Height Chart for RRAU

Note to self. Lailani's height is probably a typo, given all her notes are all over the place. xD Her medical document says she's 5'0" tall. But, at this point, I'm fond of my tiny pipsqueak, so she gets to stay like six inches shorter than is probably possible for an elf.

Might go with this adjusted height chart which makes Lailani a little more reasonable in her shortness. Still short, just under 5'0", but not like dwarf levels short. xD Will ruminate on this.

Lore Sheets

This is a collection of all the lore sheets I posted ot Rook's Roost. Not all Rook's Roost AU. Includes my "canon" Rook.

Argo's Lore Sheet

In my universe, Argo is the true Rook. All the other "Rooks" as it were would be considered AU companions that he picks up along the way.

This is Lailani's backstory both in canon, in "my universe" as I call it, and also in the RRAU universe which is why it has notes for both canon and for RRAU.

Semar's Lore Sheet

This applies to my canon world state, my au companion verse, and also RRAU verse.

This is where I get a bit nervous cause I'm seriously bending canon, and basically smooshing together like all the Darkspawn/Titan lore that we've learned into this one character.

Still working on the last couple of my characters who I'm fleshing out. I'll at some point go into Semar more deeply.

Rook's Roost AU Quarters

Okay, so I'm now obsessed with this AU, I've been so enjoying reading everyone's posts. And I saw some others sharing their AU rooms. I'm not an artist and while I am a writer, it's nice to have some visuals to go with my poor attempt to describe their living spaces… So I went to pinterest to find some inspo photos to make a sort of mood board for each of my Rook's and share a little more of their personalities too.

Kalais

Kalais space is surprisingly woodsy. Perhaps because he spent so much of his life on the road with his traveling merchant parents. He likes the feel of being outdoors, in the woods and his bedroom and space reflects that. His quarters are unusual for having a full kitchen in it. Usually most go to the communal kitchens to cook, but Kalais likes cooking and his space reflects how much he loves it by giving him a chef's dream of a kitchen. And his space also reflects how much he loves company. He has a grand, open main room that anyone who enters his quarters walks into first which is both inviting and cozy. There is a cozy fire place and a massive couch for like twenty people to sit on if they wish. The kitchen is visible off to the left and so if he's cooking, he can easily chat with his visitors. Up a set of stairs takes them to the upstairs bedroom where he has a cozy, forest-y space. On his bed, he keeps his childhood plush toy, Mr. Beaks. And he is absolutely not ashamed to introduce anyone to him and talk about how much he loved (and still loves) griffons.

Kalais would use his space mostly for gatherings. He'd absolutely have an open door policy, inviting anyone and everyone to simply drop by and make themselves at home on the couch or in his kitchen. If he's cooking, he's always making enough to be shared. And he keeps a stockpile of both coffee and tea, just in case. He's always prepared for any kind of visitor that might be by. He's probably OVERLY accommodating. Never really allowing himself to have any sense of privacy. He doesn't like feeling alone, and so it makes him antsy if there isn't anyone visiting him.

Lailani

So, Lailani, or just Lani to her friends and fellow Lords, is definitely water obsessed and she needs some sort of water around her. She may not be able to get the ocean in the Lighthouse, but she'll get at least a little something. So, yes, her bed would literally be next to little pond. Thankfully, she's not prone to restless sleep or she'd find herself waking up in that pond constantly. Her bedroom can be found upstairs, she takes a wooden, falling apart stairs on the outside of the building to get up and swing in through the window into her little nook of a bedroom. There isn't much space in that part of her quarters, just a bed, the small pond and an open window/wall space which doubles as the precarious entrance and exit to her bedroom. She doesn't have any books or writing material or space for that in her room because well… She can't read or write. She was never taught and she's a little embarrassed at this point to ask for help. But, the bottom floor is more easily accessible. And it's of course basically just a large bar. You'll find her posted up at the bar drinking, or playing drinking games like darts or throwing knife games. Maybe showing off with her magic a little if she has an audience.

Lailani is a bit standoffish, which is why her bedroom space is pretty close to inaccessible to the average person, only someone dedicated and willing to risk life and limb would even risk it… But she doesn't mind drinking buddies. So she has an open door policy to the "main" floor. Anyone can drop by to have a drink with her… If they dare. For such a small elf, she can probably drink most anyone under the table. Even the great Isabela has lost to her in a contest.

Her building is very open air. In fact, most of the walls aren't, you know, there at all. Perhaps it's that she doesn't like feeling trapped, or contained. Being a slave for so long has made it difficult to feel comfortable somewhere she feels trapped. And plus, she likes the open air feeling of being on the open deck of a ship. So the lack of walls remind her of that feeling, of being on the deck of a ship again with the breeze in her hair.

Yaseme

Yaseme's rooms feel historical. There is a presence to them that speaks of ancient traditions and a long history. She's also used to living in Dorian Pavus' home, a grand historic estate which is also, well, massive so her quarters reflect this history. Sh wouldn't know what to do in a small space, and so her Lighthouse quarters are opulent in it's sheeer size. Her little floating island is off of where the rest of the Shadow Dragons are located, and it seems like a floating grand cathedral from a distance, and is a rather distant island from the rest of the group, reflecting how Yaseme feels a little out of place even among the Shadow Dragons. She knows that she's not the ONLY Qunari, but she does realize that she is rare even among the Shadow Dragons.

There is something slightly gothic to her space. The main room that anyone first steps into is grand and expansive with very grand tall ceilings and a balcony level second floor. She has a grand piano in that main ground floor off to the side of the main sitting area. On the second floor, that overhangs above as a balcony, which you can get to from a spiral staircase tucked in the corner. You can find that there is a small discreet door up there that leads into the cozy but regal bedroom.

The grandness of her quarters doesn't entirely negate her homesickness. She sometimes still aches to go home to Minrathous and to the Pavus estates to see her father. But, the little things help like being surrounded by books to read, or having a piano close by to play on. Her space doesn't have anything to cook with (she can't cook at all and would absolutely burn water), but she does have a tea kettle and a secret stash of all sorts of high end, luxury tea blends. If she likes you, she may even share her secret stash of tea with you.

Inaean

Inaean's space is unsurprisingly woodsy. There is a whimsical nature to their space. The windows are slightly tinted in a mosaic of colors, but not fully colored. Their bed is low to the ground, and not very ornate. The space is a bit chaotic and messy, he doesn't really bother with tidiness, and plants are overgrowing the room in a very chaotic fashion. His space is mostly one big room, with tall ceilings. One side has a tree in front of a beautiful massive window, and numerous book shelves and a little bit of seating and a small table room enough for a tea set and to place some books. While, the other side, tucked into the corner among greenery and some windows is Inaean's horribly messy bed.

Semar

Semar's space screams stone. It's not entirely dwarvish, and doesn't entirely feel of Orzammar completely, but it's got hints here and there. But, it is cold. The natural chill of stone permeates the space. There isn't many windows in his basement quarters. The underground space is lit by lanterns that hang from the walls and candles. A little nook in the corner houses some bookshelves, his bed, and a small fire pit/fire place which warms his bed space. Their quarters aren't terribly large, and are accessed by a cellar door in the Wardens quarters. How a floating island has a "basement" is anyone's guess. But then the Caretaker is pretty inventive in how they arrange the housing for the Lighthouse and the army.

All my Introductions for the Rook's Roost AU

So, this is just the original introductions for my Rook's Roost AU characters. With some additional photo content!

Kalais Montero

He/Him ♣ ~23 ♣ Male ♣ Qunari ♣ Warrior/Reaper ♣ Grey Warden

background: So, Kalais would relatively remain the same. Though, his last name wouldn't be Thorne like in the game verse. His last name would be, Montero, which is the last name for one of his OC mothers (I don't know why he goes by Thorne in canon... oh well). Anyways, he was adopted by loving parents from a orphanage in Antiva. His name is Antivan in origin, which is unusual for a Qunari, and he's aware of it. The two who adopted him were a human and an elven couple. Two women, OCs named Maria Montero and Elera, who were traveling merchants who wanted a child of their own. He lost them tragically as a teenager during the Breach event. They were killed by demons while they were traveling through Ferelden/Orlais region. He met his first wardens there and became enamored when they saved his life. He was already super obsessed with griffons, even having a childhood toy of a stuffed griffon named Mr Beaks, but it only intensified after that. When he joined the Wardens, at the young age of seventeen, he was eager to be a "hero" and was nicknamed 'white knight' or simply 'knight' by his fellow Wardens. I believe Kalais would be met in the Grey Warden camp after The Siege of Weisshaupt.

missions: He's a tank of a guy. He's handy against Darkspawn, and also is not too bad with navigating Treviso and Antivan politics. He has a great respect for the Crows of course, as he is technically originally from Antiva. It wouldn't have been more than a hop and a skip to make him a Crow to be honest and he knows if fate had been different and he never was taken in by Maria Montero and Elera, that he could have been taken in as a Crow.

approval: He approves of anything that involves doing SOMETHING. He doesn't like sitting around and waiting to act. He's impulsive and eager, and is passionate about helping others.

romance: Kalais would be open to romance with any men. He's gay, so he's uninterested in women.

location: He prefers to be in any sort of training room, or exercise building. He's either working out or training. Or trying desperately to catch sight of Assan and sneak him treats/steal some pets. He likes everyone and is very easy going. He's basically a giant golden retreiver of a person and is very happy go lucky and doofy so he likes to be in locations where he can easily find people to talk with. He's quick to make friends and is often sharing the food he cooks with anyone and everyone, so he also can often be found in the kitchen.

Lailani Laidir

She/Her ♣ ~30 ♣ Female ♣ Elf ♣ Mage/Spirit Caller/Blood Mage ♣ Lord of Fortune

background: So, Lailani would relatively remain the same as well. I'd keep her last name as well, though she doesn't exactly have adoptive parents. She just heard that last name once and liked it, so she claimed it. She has no idea if it's common or rare. Given her background as a former slave from Minrathous, she doesn't remember having a last name, or her parents. For a long time she didn't even have a first name until eventually one of her fellow slaves who took care of her to a degree named her Lailani. Her backstory changes a little from game canon, and the canon I was originally following. Instead of being a galley slave, she actually was just a personal slave. She escaped her previous master (incredibly abusive) and chose to sneak aboard a ship. She didn't think that ship would wreck on the Rivaini coastline. She was lucky to survive and got picked up by some Lords of Fortune who were passing by. She ended up joining them and was taken under Isabela's wing. Lailani sees Isabela as a mentor figure in her life and respects her greatly. She could be recruited at the Lords camp after it's discovered. She'd be in the bar, probably drinking and looking for someone to offer her a challenge.

missions: She's tricky. A sharp blade, but also a mage. She's quick on her feet. She'd go on missions where magic is called for, or if it involves stabbing Venatori. She hates Minrathous, but she'll go to missions there if it means killing people.

approval: She approves of anything that helps the average citizen. She also approves greatly for taking down tyrants or bullies. She loves when the First Warden is punched in the face.

romance: Lailani would be open to romance with any gender. She's pansexual and open minded. Though, if they're from Minrathous she may have issues with them. She's wary of all people from Tevinter.

location: She'd be found anywhere that's up high. If there WAS water, she'd be there. But since the lighthouse and related buildings are all floating over empty air, she prefers to be up somewhere high where it's not easy to get to. Sitting on top of roofs, or clambering along balconies that are not easy to find. She likes to find the most broken, and torn up parts of the Lighthouse and make a nest there. She doesn't like being easy to find or get to. She's nervous around new people.

Yaseme Mercar Pavus

She/Her ♣ ~20 ♣ Female ♣ Qunari ♣ Rogue/Assassin ♣ Shadow Dragon

background: Sort of like the canon 'found on the battlefield' background, but instead, I'd see her being the adoptive daughter of Iron Bull (my Inky in my canon world) and Dorian Pavus. She had to be kept secret of course and she doesn't usually give out her real last name to anyone. Iron Bull brought her back from a mission once to Dorian, who didn't much know what to do with this unknown toddler. But he did try his best and grew very attached and protective to his Qunari daughter. Yaseme is headstrong and takes after Iron Bull in some ways, and with Dorian in other ways. She doesn't have any magical talent, but she wasn't exactly capable of the same sort of swordplay as Iron Bull, so she adopted the ways of the rogue becoming adept with daggers and blending in with the shadows. Dorian was reluctant to see Yaseme join the Shadow Dragons, but understood that his daughter needed somewhere where she felt like she belonged, given she was a Qunari in Minrathous. Yaseme could be recruited early on, inside the Shadows base.

missions: She prefers missions in her home region of Minrathous and tags along for those. Though, she is good with anything that involves sneaking around and spying. For such a large woman, she's incredibly adept at disappearing into the shadows.

approval: She approves of actions that are more cautious or clever. She doesn't necessarily think it's wise to rush into action, and admires when they choose to talk things out over going straight to violence. That said, she also can't tolerate injustice and likes to see those who are trodded upon defended vigorously.

romance: Yaseme is pansexual and will pursue a relationship with just about anyone.

location: She'd be found where ever it's dark or quiet. She likes to have a peaceful environment around her so she'd probably be in a quiet corner of the library or in the recently discovered music room. She likes to solve puzzles and word games, so she's often got those sections of the Minrathous paper with her, or she might be caught absently playing the piano.

Inaean Nehn'sulahn Aldwir

He/Him ♣ ~25 ♣ Trans Male ♣ Elf ♣ Mage/Evoker ♣ Veil Jumper

background: His given name means 'to be free like a bird' and his last name/Clan name means 'joy in song' or 'to sing in joy'. He has a different Clan name, but he also belongs to the Aldwir Clan (have we agreed on in the RRAU that Aldwir is a Clan?). Anyways, he would have joined up right after the Veilguard dealt with the village of D'Meta's Crossing. After seeing what the gods did, HIS gods did to the village, he couldn't stand by and do nothing. He's never been a very good Veil Jumper to be honest. Too rash, not very good with artifacts. He breaks things more than he fixes them. But, he wants to do something GOOD. And saving the world from his gods? Well, that seems like good work to him.

missions: He will do most any mission, but if it's Arlathan forest, he'll be there more often than most others. Also, if it relates to magic or magical artifacts. Though, it's generally agreed that Inaean is terrible with magical artifacts.

approval: He approves of quick thinking and decisive actions. He doesn't like waiting around and debating the options when you could just do something.

romance: Inaean is pansexual. And will pursue a relationship with just about anyone.

location: He can be found anywhere in the Lighthouse with a great view and some nature. Often can be found in any greenhouse area or up high in a building with a great view.

Semar Weyroth

They/He ♠ Unknown Age ♠ Nonbinary/Transmasc ♠ Dwarf ♠ Unknown ♠ Grey Warden

background: Semar would arrive JUST before the choice between Treviso and Minrathous. They've arrived all the way from the South, hailing from a Grey Warden outpost in Amaranthine, which had heard about the strange workings on the Blight up North. Semar seems to have mysterious origins and a mysterious patron as well, and seems exclusively interested in the changes in the Blight. There's something just… slightly off about him. He's always a little distant. His communication skills are stilted. He can sometimes be perfectly charming, but other times it's as if he has no idea how human interaction even works. And sometimes odd… things happen around him.

missions: They are hyper focused on the Blight. They probably wouldn't go on any mission that involves the Blight in some kind of way.

approval: They are difficult to earn approval from. They will like people who are curious and who try to ask questions first before acting. Choices that are made with clear thought and with a sympathy for both sides will win Semar over.

romance: Semar is pansexual and would romance anyone. Also polyromantic, though they don't really talk about it. Romance hasn't been in their life in a long time.

location: They'd be find anywhere that is dark and windowless. They're unnerved by too much sky. They are not originally from the surface and being above ground makes them a touch anxious.
