Patronymic names exist all over so it’s not going to be a specific correlation with any earth culture but I saw someone say they thought Vela could be based on Iran. I know patronymic names are a thing in Arabic cultures but idk about Iranian culture. He seems to be vaguely middle eastern? As for Florian, he’s from a Porriman noble house so that’s more loose, I feel. I never got an Earth equivalent from Porrima, probably bc it’s the most fleshed out city so it feels more its own.

I have absolutely no canon nor real world basis for this, it’s strictly vibes but Florian has always had a Chilean aura to me

That’s the cool thing about fantasy worlds! We get to all pull from our backgrounds and experiences and tie them in however because their no right answer. What you see is what it is!

Also in the tags you mentioned Felix’s kids being Felixa/felixun and while that would be correct according to Velan custom, I don’t think Felix would want to. Despite loving his Velan heritage, I headcannon he wouldn’t want to follow Escell’s lead even if it wasn’t him that started it. It’s a tie to a man he has very complicated and painful feelings around. Little daddy issues in there. Also I think he’d be self conscious about it. In a certain way, he feels he isn’t enough to be named after. Especially entering into something like fatherhood, he would be terrified of fucking it all up and I personally think he would assume he would be an inadequate parent and his child wouldn’t want to be associated with him. With reassurance he could be convinced but he’d rather the child take his partners name as he thinks so highly of them

is '–un' and '–a' the way they indicate that the persons are related? sort of like ... Felix, son of Escell? '–un' for masculine and '–a' for feminine.

Does that mean Escell's father is named Mir?

I'm just thinking of what naming conventions they use in Vela, or if they're based off of any in our world. I think it was mentioned Vela is a country in the East, and that his people put family above all else.

There was also dialogue in game about Florian only being able to stomach Shir Berenj (Persian dessert) when he was carrying Felix. The wiki page for Florian states that it was 'Escell's family recipe', so that might give us a clue to Escell's origins. No idea about Florian, though. Maybe somewhere close by?

My personal headcanon, though, is (in real life equivalence) that Florian is Persian, and Escell is Kazakh. No real explanation for Escell, I just gave him the nationality of another character I like (Darius Asadi from A Pirate's Pleasure) LMFAO. He could be Persian, but we know for certain he's from Vela! Wonder what irl country Mike Ingram based it off on.

OK so I know that, when it comes to the very beginning of Rime and Felix's relationship back in Welwreth, Rime was probably the one who initiated it (as in confessed/asked fe out) BUT HEAR ME OUT

What if Rime was more about giving Felix space knowing, yknow, how he is and all, not wanting to push him or make him uncomfortable-- and maybe even eager to wait for Fe to come to him, so he says nothing despite his feelings toward Fe. But Felix is tragically horribly down bad for Rime and it's driving him up a damn wall. It's getting worse every day, until he feels like he's going to phucking explode if he doesn't just do something. So he has to be the one to say something first. He's just so fed up. LIKE LISTEN. FELIX CONFESSING HE'S IN LOVE WITH RIME & ASKING HIM OUT?! ... BL EASE LIKE,,. Would he say it sheepishly?? Blurt it out?? Rehearse it take a deep breath and deliver it as straight as possible only to inevitably melt under Rime's gaze after?? Not even say anything initially and just build up the guts all on a sudden impulse to make a move, like kissing Rime on the cheek?? Fe can even initiate the first kiss.... mein gott. Just imagine it... it's so cute... The possibilities are endless, and so is my love for these two.

the insane experience of missing a fictional character . like you can always go back and reread the book , replay the game , rewatch the show or movie , you can always go back & see them , but you can never experience them & their story for the first time again . its absurd to miss them because they'll always be there , but you'll miss when there were still new things for them to say .

for a small time they were real & growing and changing and you hung onto every new word, but now all they can do is repeat the same story forever&ever & they're not real anymore because you know everything they're going to do. & you miss them. its fucked man...

A person he wants to show off his corner of the world to. Now that he has something tangible to live for, he finally sees the sun
