"M-mother..." Goes silent with her head lowered down.

The deceiver turns with an amused smile and slowly strides her way towards the young lady. The spirals of cosmic lights dancing just beneath translucent skin. “I do not sense my cells within you....yet you call me Mother. I can change that for you darling...’ She stretches out her arm and upturns the palm of her hand, those eyes burning with the heat of a supernova to draw her forth.

The Fall of the Ancients 2000 Years Have Passed

So what exactly did happen 2000 years ago? When Jenova first impacted, the Ancients were curious. The impact had left a terrible scar upon the world and the lifestream gathered upon it. Naturally, the Ancients were drawn to that spot to check it out as well. Half of them were intrigued and half of them were wary. It wasn’t normal that the lifestream couldn’t heal something after all. Though at first they couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary.

Jenova had watched them long enough to transform her appearance to match their own and wandered amongst their ranks, claiming to be one of them from another, more advanced Star. She offered to them her technology of being able to build Weapons, protectors of the Planet and in turn herself. 

Half the Ancients were more influenced by her Whisper and half remained wary of being drawn away from nature and into her inherent corruption. The other half felt the need to evolve and adapt this technology and began to create the Weapons of the planet. This eventually divided the Ancients into two sects. Those who were overcome with the aliens corruption and those who remained pure and attuned to the planet.

The corrupted sect over time became disassociated and distanced from the Lifestream and in turn their powers eventually faded away, this led to the race of humans. The pure Cetra became fewer and far between and unable to keep up eventually died out save for few. 

The Pure Cetra never trusted her and their wariness grew the longer she remained around. The alien entities own corruption began to taint the land and twist even the plant life into dark and strange monstrosities. This is also why more monsters tend to be gathered around the Northern Crater than any other area, along with the most strange and vicious ones. 

The Pure Cetra knew enough to know this was bad and after studying her corruption took a vote to seal her away and to divide from the sect they could no longer sway. They learned that harming her did almost nothing, that she could regenerate and heal herself at will. She seemed unstoppable so they came up with a plan to lock her away forever for they saw the monster she truly was. They called upon the planet and when it sent Shiva to their aid, they used most of their energy to seal her away in ice so thick that the northern lands remain cold, frozen, and lifeless.

Jenova. What actually happened 2000 years ago? How did you trick the Cetrans into near annihilation, and what made the few survive? //Oooh a Jenova blog! Inquiring minds would love to hear some HC on this (and Reeve is totally not fishing for information).

((Seriously though that’s a good one I’ll write up a HC for and be sure to tag you in the post when I place it since I actually want to think it out. Expect terra corruption to be part of it. ))

The Whisper -

Jenova has a way of influencing others with or without her cells being within the body. The cells allow her more control and ability to take over weaker subjects, but one does not necessarily need cells to be influenced by her. 

By this I mean that just being in her presence is enough to feel her pull upon the mind. There are those who are more resistant than others, and those who are more willing to give in. It’s probably not comfortable to be close to her as the brain becomes foggy and even faint whispers and sometimes hallucinations are present.

The whisper draws one in in a hypnotic will with the intent to be drawn to her, to spread her corruption and to not want to harm her. The longer one is exposed to ‘The Whisper’ the harder it becomes to resist and can even lead to obsession or insanity as seen in Professor Hojo’s case.

Not all exposed to The Whisper will fall to it but it effects everyone in a different way be it just a headache,  general feeling of discomfort as the body tries to resist, or something more dramatic like hallucinations both visual or auditory.

“...do I know you? I’ve been trapped on this damn planet for so long you’re going to have to remind me.”

“Annihilate the place.” She orders without even having to think about it. “Don’t leave their precious legacy behind in any way worth remembering. A building is not useful to us. It is comprised of steel and prisons. What we can show them is true magic.” The monster gazes down upon him as he rests curled against her leg, her hand slowly coming to halt atop his head.

After a moments thought she suddenly stands and glides her way across the room towards the window to gaze out across that placid lake. It was test. To see what he would do at her sudden absence. The carelessness in the way that she stood without warning. That curtain of celestial hair hung straight down her back as she continues to gaze outside, faced away from him.

“Tell me...what is both your best and your worst memory.” She wonders with curiosity. Was there anything of his innocence that he could recall? Before he found out what he was. Was there anything there that made him happy or would that memory somehow involve her.

Her fingertips press against each other before her as she patiently awaits his response, not matter how long it may take him to conclude an answer. What was the worst he had ever been through in his own mind? That would be interesting indeed...
