Ancient Astrology History

Define:-

astrology, type of divination that involves the forecasting of earthly and human events through the observation and interpretation of the fixed stars, the Sun, the Moon, and the planets. Devotees believe that an understanding of the influence of the planets and stars on earthly affairs allows them to both predict and affect the destinies of individuals, groups, and nations. Though often regarded as a science throughout its history, astrology is widely considered today to be diametrically opposed to the findings and theories of modern Western science.

Any day learning astrology with proper Guru will be more effective, the very reason for this is astrology is such a vast subject with so many resource available today you can easily carried away by irrelevant information. Having said that, you can also learn from online resource but don’t hesitate to validate them with your personal experience.

The books by Dr.B.V. Raman and K.N. Rao are best resource to get started, both of their books are detail and rational. You could also learn from their training institutes. KN Rao founded Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Dr. B.V. Raman founded “Indian council for astrological studies” to help people learn this divine subject.

Except few YouTube channels I don’t recommend any other, as I observe many of them repeat the concepts that are already detailed in books.

Few important tips here,

Take ample time to read the concepts and never rush through the concepts.

It is normal to apply the concepts to your own chart, but don’t over do it. It is natural to decode our own birth chart first, but if someone over do it then their learning would stop.

Check as many horoscope as possible and validate the concepts you learn.

Never hesitate to break the traditional concept, if with your repeated interpretation found something new share with larger audience.

Never learn this divine subject with intention to make money. If you master this subject and have strong intention to help people then money will become byproduct.

Research, Research and Research. If someone have passion they can find astrological combination for anything.

Last but not least, use the subject to spread positive energy in the world. Help people to identify good and bad time to accelerate or apply brakes in their life. Don’t use this divine subject to fear people.

Purposes of astrology

The original purpose of astrology, on the other hand, was to inform the individual of the course of his life on the basis of the positions of the planets and of the zodiacal signs (the 12 astrological constellations) at the moment of his birth or conception. From this science, called genethlialogy (casting nativities), were developed the fundamental techniques of astrology. The main subdivisions of astrology that developed after genethlialogy are general, catarchic, and interrogatory.

General astrology studies the relationship of the significant celestial moments (e.g., the times of vernal equinoxes, eclipses, or planetary conjunctions) to social groups, nations, or all of humanity. It answers, by astrological means, questions formerly posed in Mesopotamia to the bāru.

Catarchic (pertaining to beginnings or sources) astrology determines whether or not a chosen moment is astrologically conducive to the success of a course of action begun in it. Basically in conflict with a rigorous interpretation of genethlialogy, it allows the individual (or corporate body) to act at astrologically favourable times and, thereby, to escape any failures predictable from his (or its) nativity.

Interrogatory astrology provides answers to a client’s queries based on the situation of the heavens at the moment of his posing the questions. This astrological consulting service is even more remote from determinism than is catarchic astrology; it is thereby closer to divination by omens and insists upon the ritual purification and preparation of the astrologer.

Other forms of astrology, such as iatromathematics (application of astrology to medicine) and military astrology, are variants on one or another of the above.

Horoscope

horoscope, in astrology, a chart of the heavens, showing the relative positions of the Sun, the Moon, the planets, and the ascendant and midheaven signs of the zodiac at a specific moment in time. A horoscope is used to provide information about the present and to predict events to come.

An individual horoscope usually plots the moment of birth and is used by astrologers to analyze character, as well as—in conjunction with other astrological data—to predict the future. This is in accordance with the belief that each celestial body has its own mythological character, modified according to its geometric relationship with the other celestial bodies at a given moment. Everything in the universe being interrelated, these bodies exert an influence, particularly on the newborn.
