Project Sparkles Cancellation

I hate to be all matter-of-factly with this post because this event has always been very close to all of our hearts. For 5 years we came together to celebrate what made us unique. It made our community based in love and giving. So with a heavy heart I have to announce that Project Sparkles will be discontinued indefinitely.  There is still a chance for it to come back if there is enough interest however. The ultimate reason we can no longer hold onto the event is simply because we can not raise enough money. We did everything that we could, from pushing the event back 6 months, to expanding our horizons and inviting new fandoms to join us, giving discounts on tickets, allowing payments in person, having raffles to raise money. We tried our best to make it work from our end for you guys. However our efforts never paid out and we are left with what we currently have. 

What happens now?

Anyone who has already paid for a ticket is welcome to ask for a refund of their money. You can do that by asking through this blog, @atlantastuck @georgiagems @nonoising or emailing officalfandomfusion@gmail.com Your refund can be given back to you via paypal or in person at an upcoming event (more info on events later). Everyone who bought a ticket will also be emailed about it and you can also reply to that email. 

If for any reason we have money left over the money we will be using it for 2 possible out comes:

1) I have been considering to put on another fundraising type event that will be like an art show. I want to help support our community in the nerdiest way possible that is different and unique than conventions do. By show casing the work of our community and raising money and canned food for homeless LGBT youth I can see something like this achieving that goal. It also may be possible to have the event multiple times in the future. 2) Use the money to help fund small events for any event that is within the Fandom-Fusion umbrella. I am always open to any new ideas and help that anyone might be able to offer the community.  Going Forward Fandom-Fusion is still are dedicated to providing a comfortable space for fans to be able to come together to learn, network, and have fun. No matter what happens we will still be focused on convention photoshoots, meetups, and panels. Since 2011 we have been coming together to celebrate what we love, and I don’t know about you but I don’t intend on ending that any time soon! With so much love!~ @nonoising

for the 4/16 meetup, will we have the venue to ourselves?

No! This is the main difference as to the Meetup and the actual Sparklestuck event. We are literally meeting during their normal operating hours, which is why there are so many costume rules. One reason why that is is because not only is is dangerous to have a few of those costume pieces but we also do not want to effect the business of the Sparkles as much as possible. So these rules will be enforced strictly to be able to maintain good relations with our generous hosts (who have allowed us to show up in as mass as we are). On a side note; The organizers won’t be at Sparkles until 2pm tomorrow because of overlapping scheduling issues. Everyone is free to be there as early as they want and start the party before we get there though. We will probly be able to make an announcement over the sound system when we show up and will be taking over the both directly beside the DJ booth. (If someone gets there early and wants to hold the table that would be awesome)

Out of curiosity, is Sparklestuck 2016 a lock in this year?

Yes!!~ It will be happening in the winter!~The new date of the event will be release on the 16th

Do you have to pay for Skating? If you're a minor, do you have to be accompanied an adult?

For the 4/16 meet up; no you don't have to pay for skating and no you do not have to have a parent accompany you, but you do have to check in with the organizers so we can give/take any information for your guardian.----For the main meet that is being moved to the winter. The ticket price includes skating but you don't have to skate during the lockin.We will be providing a FAQ in the form of a printable Google doc for you to show to parents on the event. It must be signed and filled out with any information the parent feels we need to know for any minors to be able to stay the night. Its more of a "yes i have seen and understand all the info" rather than a permission sheet. Still, parents are more than welcome to come and spend the night with us as well.

This is a meetup at Sparkles for everyone who wanted to come to SparkleStuck. We will be accepting prepays for the Winter Sparkles for $25 as well as donations to help get the new event off the ground. Meet with the organizers and team to find out how to help in the furture or just come and hang out and meet new fun people! Will start at 12pm and last until the building closes at 10pm or until we are all pooped. Sparkles Admission Details: $9 Single Activity Admission and $4 Skate Rental. Unlimited Fun Admission ($19): Includes skating, rental, playground (children under 10) and unlimited laser tag games! COSTUME RESTICTIONS: -no grey paint -no horns -no long capes that drag the ground -no props (espesially weapons) ^^The above are restictions based on the normal opperating hours that Sparkles has.

We are opening up this project to anyone and everyone who would like to collaborate with us on this and possibly on other things in the future if this goes down well enough.

This is the basic layout of what we were trying to achieve for the SparkleStuck 2016 Time & Space poster. It is set out to be like a character selection screen from a melee game where different head shots of characters would be inserted into the boxes and 2 characters would be selected. 

The two selected characters (Homestuck; John Egbert, and Steven Universe: Steven) are drawn by the projects head artist stelacestine.

Announcement

Unfortunately I have some sad news for everyone who follows this event. Because of the lack of interest and monetary backing the organizers of the event are forced to move SparkleStuck 2016 into the winter.

That being said, we have some very exciting news to announce because we have more time to organize what’s happening! We will be completely reorganizing SparkleStuck to be a fully developed fandom event for any and every fandom that there is.  The organizer of this event is also creating a community to bring together the fans of Atlanta (and possibly further). I will make another announcement when the urls look pretty about this.  Sparklestuck isn’t going away. It’s simply reaching God Tier. And with the power, come great great things!

We will still be having a meetup on the Saturday that Sparklestuck was originally planned on (April 16th 2016). At the meetup you will be able to prepay, (for cheaper than the current door price) donate, skate, draw, and anything you can normally do during normal sparkles hours. Please check the event page for more info about COSTUME RESTRICTIONS. 

------ What can you do now to help? ------

1) Dates for the new Sparklestuck need to be picked. The three dates that the organizers have chosen to be up for voting are:

November 12th-13th December 10th-11th January 14th-15th

(It would help a bunch) Alternatively, vote via facebook. 2) The SparkleStuck 2016 Time & Space poster needs to be finished. 3) PREPAY AND DONATE TO THE NEW EVENT!! All previous prepayers will still be prepayed for the new event (and even get the best swag we can produce). Prepaying for the Winter Sparkles is starting at $25. It can be paid online, or in person. You will be able to prepay for the winter Sparkles at the 4/9 and 4/16 meetups. In addition we will be starting serious crowdfunding on a site. That will be posted on this blog once we have it too.

4) We need artists, members of the community with follower influence, leaders, and anyone with ideas for the new event. If you have any of those qualities message this blog or my personal.

Sparklestuck moved to winter?!

The organizers of the event are currently deciding on if Sparklestuck should be moved to the winter due to not having enough prepayers / interest at this time.

The best thing you can do if you still want Sparklestuck to happen is prepay and get your friends to prepay too. The second best thing you can do (if you’re on facebook) is change your status on the Facebook event page from ‘interested’ to 'going’ if you know for sure you are going to be able to make it. If you’re on Tumblr please reblog the event master post!! Reach out into the Fandom to find anyone and everyone who needs comfort in out time of The End
