If you adopt a Pokémon who is from a species that evolves at all, for the love of dragons, *keep track of what typically causes that evolution.* Even if you and your partner aren't regularly battling, certain species have really wild evolutionary triggers!

This caused a lot of issues for my mom as a groomer because people adopt tiny Pokémon with odd evo trigs and then treat them like they're guaranteed to always be tiny. Your Inkay can and will evolve seemingly at random into a Malamar, and suddenly, it is not cute when it tries to cuddle in your lap. This really goes for all pokemon, but please plan long-term.

I live in Nimbasa city, and there is proposed legislation right now for all non-gym tournament registered Pokémon to be issued an everstone collar. In rural areas, it's one thing for your little Growlithe to evolve into an Aracnine. It is another when you live in an apartment building, and he almost burns the place down due to behavioral issues and lack of forethought in his training.

As you can see, the myth just started to grow, characters and ships and tropes being added one after the other, almost bizzarely without contradiction, until there was enough of shape to the whole thing for people to start posting fanfic about it on AO3. I also just found out about the Goncharov Game Jam. It appears this opened a day after after the meme took off.

Goncharov was first entered into Wikipedia between Day 4 and 5 (attempts to vandalise it with fake info don't count, incidentally – please knock that shit off) under List of Internet Phenomena. This was then expanded into its own Wikipedia page at the end of Day 5 because, according to the talk history: "the topic now meets the notability threshold for its own artice due to significant coverage in The New York Times and other sources cited." We're on Wikipedia, people!

And then we made The Guardian half a day later. So while the meme is definitely dying down to embers by now, it still stays winning.

Oh boy. Camp.

So I'm a Counselor In Training at a day camp (which is why I haven't been posting a lot), and the camp allows kids to bring one partner Pokemon. It's great, the activities are meant for the camper and their Pokemon to share, excellent for bonding.

I bring Caroline (Deerling) and she loves it. Most kids bring Lillipups, Purrloins, Minccinos, and other pets, but there's a lot of strict regulations regarding which Pokemon are allowed besides those. No Pokemon that can't fit into a small room, no fire types with open flames, no aggressive Pokemon, etc. Reasonable stuff, about what you'd expect...

So far we have had:

Like 4 Charmanders (one kid said he would put the flame out so the Charmander could stay... yikes!)

A kid claiming he would bring his "blue worm", it was a fucking Dragonair??? Where did he get that??

A Gothorita who hypnotized me into giving her camper an extra popsicle

An Oshawatt, which is allowed, except this one straight up hated everyone and stole a bunch of shoes

Spotted a wild Palossand variation today! The sand on the beach was both black and that reddish hue you see, the black sand was just underneath. Somehow that led to the is weird shiny but also not shiny variant. Very cool! Took a few photos and left it be :3
