I always liked the anime illustrations in the original NES Zelda manual, and it saddened me to find out these weren’t actually part of a real animated promotion for the game. So I decided to take those illustrations and re-create them as if they were!

SOUL x MAKA WEEK 2025 PT.3
DAY 5: BITE I tried to make it look like Soul is calm and holding his newly-turned-vampire friend’s head through it all. I was going to add a bit of dialogue where he says “Don’t take too much, yeah?” but I think leaving it as is was better.
DAY 6: SUNDER Forced apart, reaching out. One is weakening, the other desperate. Idk these are the only mental notes I had while sketching this one out. I think it’s one of my favorites though.
DAY 7: FREE DAY I’ve always wanted to draw them just existing together. Felt like a nap was the best way to show it :’)

#as someone who used to play quadball back in the day…#this wouldnt be the craziest sport to be made real out of a book series tbh#with some quality of life improvements for sure (SMALLER FUCKING COURT)#aftg#edit: actually ive thought more about it so here is an essay on how i would bring exy into a real sport#firstly smaller court. obviously#depending on how big the court ends up being tho we could add in a ‘mid-fielder’ type position between backliners and strikers#im also debating taking the roof off the court but idk i love the drama of a roof rebound move#secondly referees do not lock the court doors holy shit!!! one ref on court and others in the inner court for consultation#but we do not lock players in a box for 40 minutes!!! the fire escapes oh my god!!#thirdly. gear.#take off the arm guards and neck guards(???) and shin guards fuck all that#bruises from stray balls are fine you’ll live#add in a mouth guard holy fuck PLAYERS WOULD NEED TO WEAR MOUTH GUARDS#next i would add legal hitting zones and penalties for hits of excessive force and high risk hits (eg going for the head)#now quadball also had/has a gender quota where a team can only field a maximum of 3 players of the same gender at one time#of a team of 6 (i think its been years so i dont remember exactly but you couldnt have a team of he/hims taking all the glory)#i dont think Kayleigh and Tetsuji would have implemented this and in 2007 i can imagine it wasnt a thing#HOWEVER it was fun and meant everyone got to play not just the 6ft cis guys who were banned from playing rugby bc too many concussions lmao#finally i love the dealer position it sounds so so fun but i feel like it could be refined#eg can a dealer make a shot at goal? can the dealer play anywhere on the court or must they stay in the centre half? etc etc#thats all i have for now thank you 🫡
