the first part is for building the wall, and it's a constant cycle of thinking it's other people building that wall around you and finding reasons in their actions to lay the bricks down yourself. you build the wall because people shun you, but people shun you because you're building it. it ends with you thinking how great it is that you built this wall, you're safe now.

the second part is for tearing it down, but it really starts with noticing the wall, the distance between yourself and others. then comes the cycle of denial, pretending like there is no wall at all, pretending that you don't need anyone or anything in the safety of your very good wall. and then comes the cycle of noticing that the wall has been harming you and the ones who loved you; it's not the consequence of the hurt, it's the cause of it. and in your cycle of denial you try everything to tear it down, but you feel like the wall is such an integral part of your being that you fight against doing so. you want help to tear it down, but you don't know how to do it, so you convince yourself that you're forcing others to do it for you.

in the end of all of this, you feel relief. but the wall is never truly one hundred percent gone. it waits for a moment of weakness, when you're not vigilant, to start coming around again. and you have to start the fight anew.
