this is a part of a broader problem i have with the show. taking events from the book, either watering them down or sensationalizing them, and acting like the original effect is still there.

another example is

being turned into Daemon giving her that necklace in the beginning of season 1 which DISAPPEARS AFTER EPISODE FOUR🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮😞😞😞😞😞🫤🫤🫤🫤🫤 it leads you to believe this necklace represents everything else he did for her in the book so you're like "ok, this must be like the most important thing ever since all of her other gifts got written out for it, really sentimental valyrian steel n all that blah blah blah" but like, nope. that whole paragraph like, really drives home the point that Daemon is in looooove with rhaenyra like that inseparable type of honeymoon phase love or at least infatuation just for the show writers or whoever is crafting these terrible moments in the show to ignore it all (placing my bets on it being sarah's fault). it would be fine if they took this part out and replaced it with something else that gives the same vibe but they don't !!! they literally don't care !!!

i feel like the reason for this specific paragraph's events being written out is the "show don't tell" concept but like. you decided not to tell us. but you did nothing to show us either.
