I don’t reblog anymore but I want to say this: I think both could have worked.
Having star be more human like would have gave him some agency and feel more like a character than a maguffn.
For a royal villain couple, I can take it or leave it. I think people just want to see the king and queen be more lovey dovey to each other.
Everything else is fine, just put more soul into it. Make it feel like it was made by humans who actually care about Disney instead of a chat bot trying to write a Disney movie.
Though, I am limiting the options as only these two because some people wanted a completely different movie. Like, I know it's supposed to be Disney's (the animation studio, not the whole dang company) centennial anniversary movie and therefore it should include the tropes it's known for like romances, obviously evil villains, animal sidekicks, etc. But, that only sets up way too high expectations than what the creators have intended. So, let's just remake Wish as any other movie Disney made without the pressure that it's their 100th anniversary movie.
For the "improvements" we gotta to stick on the ideas that are present and unused. Things like "making Magnifico the protagonist" is thrown out of the dungeon window because that would've been a completely different movie. The main fundamentals are taking down an oppressing monarch, magical being from space and achieving dreams and wishes.
But, "didn't you say in an early post to express creativity is to break out of its bounds", yes I did. However, like i said about making Magnifico the hero or have it be a romance are different to what the creators' intended story is. To remake Wish, you have to remake Wish. Not make a completely different movie. Like, still make it the same premise but with minor deets like Asha being a princess and sorceress in training or Star is a magical creature Magnifico secretly kept to harness its magic. Somewhat different story, but the same structure and themes.
If you have any ideas for alternative Wish story ideas, feel free to share them in the comments or reblog them.

I keep seeing that the rest of the wish fandom hates Star boy and this gave me an existential crisis because I still like the idea of Star boy and now I feel bad 😢

Just something I cooked up. I like to think it’s Magnífico singing the mirror like “damn this is the thanks I deserve”
(Also Almyra is not the evil queen in my au. It just made sense for the amv)

A wish crossover au where Magnifico is the slave in the magic mirror but with a twist. See the evil queen forbade Snow from talking to the mirror for fear of Snow using his power against her. But Snow talked to him anyway. He was like a secret friend to her and he started to feel the same way. But alas, rags can not hide her gentle grace and Snow becomes more fairer than the queen. But there’s a twist.
Somehow, after telling the queen about Snow’s beauty, the mirror breaks and Magnifico escapes. He has become good friends with Snow and wants to protect her from her stepmother. The story diverges from there, with Magnifico becoming a father figure to Snow.
A few things:
Magnifico doesn’t want Snow to find out how he got in the mirror. He will go under the fake name “M” which he says stands for “Mirror” (but actually stands for “Magnifico”)
Snow has heard about the kingdom of Rosas. But only as a kingdom that has long been in ruins that was once threatened by a “evil monster wrapped in green”. She doesn’t know that’s M
When asked something, M will automatically know the uncut truth about it. In fact he can’t lie no matter what. He can twist it a little but it has to be true.
M has no emotion. Having been in the mirror for years and years, he has been broken down by both magic and slavery. He can show some emotion but for the most part he acts stoic
M has glass eyes like Lapis from Steven Universe. Cracks are around his face, giving him a broken look.
M will go John Wick on anyone who dares hurt Snow. He still has his magic and won’t be afraid to use it.

facts tho. Even though the straw king is my favorite one, it should have started with No place like Oz and went from there. Also thx for the info
Ok but like for the five people who read Dorothy Must Die, did anyone else think it was weird how Dorothy was hyperfeminineized? Like the girl was raised on a farm. Dorothy and the wizard of Oz knows what I’m talking about. It gave me the vibe that the author had a grudge against a Regina George in high school and make Dorothy like her. All I’m saying is that a more Tomboy Dorothy would be more in character.

I hate no idea who Littlefinger is but YESSS with the manipulative side. He could have been a puppet master and I would have LOVED that. And I always got the vibe that Dorothy was forcing them to hang out with her. You know like 1984.

Yeah, Scarecrow is my favorite character and I think his villain arc is interesting although making him a mad scientist feels like an excuse for more gore and edginess. Him wanting power should have been explored more if you ask me. It could have been fun but it was wasted

The whole series felt like wasted potential, wanting to be more edgy and dark then actually explore what it would be like for Dorothy and her friends to become evil. That was what intrigued me the most about them and that was barely shown

I have read the prequel novels and I felt like the resentment was more about being ignored and pushed around by her aunt and uncle. The whole “wanting to be a girly princess” kind of came out of nowhere for me. Also thank you!!! I knew I wasn’t the only one!!! And combined with the fact that Tin man (an adult) has a crush on her!!! It is just so uncomfortable

Hey coming out of retirement to tell you guys that did anybody know that Bill Fagerbakke (who voices Patrick Star) also voiced Scarecrow in “Dorothy and the wizard of Oz”? I didn’t know that
