I've decided on a new tradition this year (and hopefully in future years) it's called "Friday I'm in Love," where you listen to the song, do at least two nice things (i.e. putting a nice note or flower in your friends mail box), and you make sure to talk with as many people you care about as possible.

Today I walked one of my favourite profs to his office, and visited my choir director to chat about his upcoming harpsichord recital. I bought my dear friend a rose and left him a note to thank him for all the aesthetic arguments he tolerates with me, and a newer friend a rose because she's been feeling lonely.

Last night I read Iris Murdoch's "Art and Eros" and I cried like a baby at the end. I love Socrates with my entire heart, and I love Plato with my entire heart, and I love my professors with my entire heart.

woke up at crack o' dawn to register for my classes and also cram for my latin midterm. thoughts and prayers appreciated, I need to make a little shrine to Cicero to pray to or something, because if I don't at least get an a- on this one I will put dirt on my head and tear my clothes. ululabo even.

anyway, a new Indian food place opened up in my college town, so naturally I got myself some curry and naan delivered and read the Odyssey and I absolutely refuse to believe I have to wake up and sing in church tomorrow. Isn't it supposed to be the day of rest?

I'm starting Greek this year, and I'm an upperclassmen, and all the freshmen ask me questions because I'm picking it up quickly (from taking two other inflected languages), and it's so sweet. Today I took a lady bug off one of their back packs and put it outside because she's afraid of bugs. They're doing so great!

I knew something was funky with my latin homework when I fully had the sentence "he killed him a little" in my notes. :/

I'm proud to say that I'm tutoring the first years in our great books program this year. I'm also scared. I want to be like Aeneas, father to my troops, as it were, and really give them the best experience I can. I hope they like stickers from classical literature.

Inviting your (incredibly intellectually intimidating) favorite professor to your informal virtual summer book club sounds like a good idea, until you realize that your amateur appreciation is rendered pale by the outstanding light of her mind, and that you read the entirety of paradise lost book 3 so fast the only thought you have is "mmm christology"
