Hello French people here. Since other people will certainly dissect the Marichat moments, I come to explain precisely why André was akumatized.

André has always seen Ladynoir as the ideal couple. His intuition told him it was true love.

Then he saw Marinette and Cat Noir together.

When he finds Marinette and Cat Noir, Glaciator tells them "It's Ladybug and Cat Noir who must love each other, not you two! My ice creams are never wrong!"

André was akumatized because his intuition told him "Ladynoir ? Marichat ? Same energy, same picture" and his logic told him "Wtf, Marinette and Ladybug are 2 different people!"

About Marinette and Adrien who didn't recognize themselves as Ladybug and Cat Noir

After responding to a comment on YouTube, I feel the need to talk about it here as well.

Several people were very skeptical that Marinette and Adrien didn't recognize themselves as Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Even after the special New York episode and the explanation of Uncanny Valley, there are people who were still skeptical.

The point is, it exists. In real life. This is called prosopagnosia.

What is prosopagnosia? It's a disorder of face perception. 

It can be innate, but it's usually related to brain damage. People with this disorder are unable to recognize faces, whether they are familiar or unfamiliar. Some are even unable to recognize their own face in the mirror. Others have the precise memory of a person's face, yet are unable to recognize that person when they have it in front of them. Brad Pitt has this disorder, to give you an example.

To be able to recognize someone, people rely on other details, such as gait, fashion style, sometimes also voice and smell.

Think it's more or less the same in Miraculous, a specific prosopagnosia brought on by magic. Adrien and Marinette no longer have the same personality when they become Cat Noir and Ladybug, they have absolutely nothing that can recall their civil identity.

Alya guessed that Carapace was Nino, but not because of appearance ; she recognized him because Carapace acted in a way that is specific to Nino.

I wanted to talk about the famous yellow rose that Chat Noir gives Ladybug. He tells her that he read that it represents friendship and Ladybug tells him that it represents jealousy. 

They're both right, actually. 

If we want to give a flower to a friend who is really important to us, the yellow rose is perfect. 

But in a romantic relationship, this rose represents jealousy ; it was also the flower offered in the past when we wanted to be forgiven for adultery. 

This flower has two opposite meanings.
