"My parents were both quite religious and that's how I was raised. My mama still goes to church every Sunday without fail but dad must've stopped after they got divorced. For me, I acknowledge that it's likely to not be real, just scientifically speaking. But I still have faith in something greater than me despite all evidence."

"One person? Made just for you? And somehow happen to be at the same place at the same time? I'm not a mathematician, but statistically, it just seems very unlikely for that to be the case for single person on the planet. But good on anyone who just live in that kind of delusion. I'm actually jealous."

What’s the accomplishment they are most proud of?

"Well, I'm a very proud person so that's a tough task to pick one singular accomplishment. Like, being the first of my family to go to college is pretty cool. Full ride scholarship to the school of my choosing, early admission to pre-med. I also got a 520 on the MCAT."

"But my biggest accomplishment will be when I'm the youngest pediatric oncologist this side of the country. Probably the hottest too. Just haven't got there.. yet."

What is something others could do to gain their trust?

“Trust is just something that comes over time, I don’t know if there’s anything that would make me instantly trust someone any quicker. My gut instinct usually gives me a pretty good indication if someone is worthy of that trust anyway. When it says otherwise, I listen.”

The loud squeeze that followed a near ass fall on Aurelia's part is thankfully lost beneath the music. Her hand gripping onto a stranger for dear life, however, could not be ignored. Straightening up, her shoes still don't want to make full contact with the suds covered floor.

"Oh yeah, totally!" Aurelia nodded breathlessly, playing off the fact her whole life had flashed before her eyes for a moment there. "This floor is like a slip'n'slide. I shoulda thought of that when picking my shoes."

Her platform boots added an extra three inches to her height, which was helpful for her five feet and one inch self to see over the bar, but not helpful when it came to not reenacting that scene from Bambi where he learned to walk. "You like saved my ass. Literally."

Big themed events were never really Philippe's thing, but after a couple of shots, he found himself loosening up, even dancing a bit. The party was in full swing with waves of bodies pulsing to the music, bass thumping, and the foam spraying everywhere. It felt like a throwback to the college days at the infamous frat parties.

Just as he made his way out of the thick crowd, someone suddenly slipped and stumbled into him, causing him to nearly lose his footing on the slick foam-covered floor. "-Woah, are you alright there?"

"Do you think you could seriously run 5k without being chased?" Aurelia had always been better at running from something, not towards. Especially if that something was a face full of rainbow chalk in her face.

"Besides, I don't know about you but I plan on still being hungover from the foam party on Sunday. So..." she shrugged as the word extended out long and loud, "I'm going to say mimosas wins, hands down."

The only item on tonight's agenda was to have a few drinks and enjoy some live music to celebrate another college year done and dusted. The night after finals had gotten a little too rowdy last year. With her and her three college friends dancing atop a table in Oasis, which broke under the weight of their drunken gyrating, resulting in being unceremoniously kicked out by security. A fun memory to reminisce about, but not one she longs to make a habit of.

It isn't until she's at the bar that Aurelia catches Alfie's smiling profile closer to the stage, chatting amongst a group. A thought passed through her mind, something about not learning from the past and being doomed to repeat it but it's swiftly ignored in favor of perceived politeness. It feels rude to not go over and at least say hi, even if the last words they'd said to each other in person were full of pain.

As soon as a beer was placed in her hand, she quickly excused herself from her group.

"So tell me," Aurelia speaks loudly over the music as she moves up to stand beside him, as cavalier as she can muster. "Do you know if my ears are about to start bleeding or are these guys actually good?"

A morning stroll along the seaside usually did wonders to calm her nervous insides, but it had yet to do so today. It could have been the two cold drips she'd had when she'd woken up this morning, or the lack of stimulation for the day ahead. Watching her bare feet step in line with the various footsteps etched into the sand, shoes dangling from her fingers.

Her eyes did pass over a boy bending down to pick something up off the sand, not thinking much of it until he called out. "Some might call it observing," Aurelia countered as her steps slowed. "I would call it you just being in my eyeline." Although she didn't like people littering on the ocean, she wasn't one to touch other people's dirty rubbish with her bare hands. Too many germs.

Robbie pulls a weathered plastic fork from the sand, wearing a rather placid look for stumbling upon his version of a crime scene.

“Another one,” he mutters, dropping it into his bag with exaggerated disgust. "It's barely the start of the season!" He sifts through and wanders a couple more feet down the boardwalk until he catches what he thinks is someone watching him.

“Let me guess — just observing? Most people do as plastic pollutes everything.”

While Lucy was sat on the nearby bench, Aurelia was standing a little too close to the thick glass that separates her from her sea creatures. There was a hammerhead shark that had been swimming past and giving her the stink eye, so she needed a closer look. As her friend cries out, Aurelia's head turns, losing the staring contest she was having.

"Hey, take your time," Aurelia reminds. "We're not in a rush." Now summer was here, she was a lady of leisure with no schedule to abide to. Which was a very different version of her compared to the rest of the year. Taking a few steps over to park herself next to the blonde, her hands rest in-between her knees, gaze turning upward. "I love how it looks like they have cute little faces underneath."

Lucy sits on a bench in the middle of the shark tunnel, looking directly up a large stingray that shared the tank gently swim over her. Delighted, she looks like a kid in a candy store watching the cartilaginous fish mosey on by.

"Look how massive it is!" She turns to her company beside her, palms clasping together im the midst of her glee. "Okay, okay, I promise we can keep moving on now. I just wanted to see the Stingray go over one more time."

It felt a little too early for a pop quiz, but with her matcha in hand, Aurelia was struck with curiosity. Plus, a hundred dollars wouldn't go unappreciated.

"Did a parent make out with a teacher?" It was her best guess under pressure, and if she heard such a piece of information, that tea would be piping hot. "Or someone's spouse?" It wasn't clear if this barbeque was for the kids, or their too-involved parents.

Never in a million years did Nova think she would be on a PTA board. One of the moms caught wind of her successes and said Nova's perspective would be a great addition. She could write a whole novel in just what she witnessed in various meetings and events. "I'll give you $100 if you can guess what detail regarding the end-of-the-school-year barbecue turned into a full-blown tea session." The meeting was only supposed to last two hours and turned into three with the last forty minutes of pure bickering.

Born with a weak heart, Aurelia Solis has always been just outside of death’s grasp. Even before she had entered this world, there was little hope that she would survive on her own. The first child of two worried parents, they were told by doctors that it would likely be a miracle if their daughter live to see her first breath. It was a stressful time for pair, ultimately putting their marriage to the test. Prepared for the worst the day Elizabeth went into labor, they were almost brought to tears when Aurelia let out her first cry. However, their worry did not end there. After several weeks in the Intensive Care Unit and multiple surgeries later, it was clear that Aurelia would likely be sick the remainder of her life, however long that may be.

If the emotional trauma of it all wasn't enough, the medical bills alone almost sent the Solis family into financial ruin. If it wasn't for the strong community that rallied around them, there's no way they'd have been able to come back from it.

Growing up, Aurelia was constantly sick. From Colic to Measles, her parents were told that because of how traumatic her birth was — her immune system would likely never be as strong as other kids. There were lots of childhood milestones that Aurelia missed out on due to the various doctor and hospital visits. At the age of five, Aurelia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Through every treatment, her parents prayed and prayed. Despite barely clinging to life, Aurelia remained strong and thankfully, by the time of her eighth birthday, she entered remission. However, the damage to Manuel and Carmen's marriage was too hard to come back from.

They split up unceremoniously and bitterly when Aurelia was nine years old, leaving her to be ferried back and forth while they fought viciously over custody. Her father decided to move to Cape Cod for his work. For most of her life, Aurelia lived with her mother in New Jersey due to her father's work, with the occasion visits over the summer and winter breaks, whenever he had time off the fishing boat.

Returning back to regular life after spending years in and out of hospitals, Aurelia had a lust for life. She had big dreams of being the first of her family to go to college and there was no doubt what she would study. Without all the wonderful doctors and nurses who helped her through her cancer journey, Aurelia knew she wanted to study medicine. If there was any way she could be that support for someone suffering, she wanted to do that.

At fourteen, her mother remarried. Brian was nice enough and all Aurelia wanted was her mom to be happy, which he seemed to achieve. It wasn't long before there was news of a new arrival in the family. Her father, while somewhat emotionally distant, took his former wife moving on badly. And yet, he always seemed to brighten with his daughter would visit. Aurelia knew that her mother didn't need help. She had a new husband, a new family. Her father had nothing but his work, no one to look after him. When she could finally decide where she wanted to live, Aurelia moved to Cape Cod to live with her dad permanently.

They had a nice routine together. Manuel could be gone for weeks at a time on a work trip, leaving Aurelia to her own devices which never bothered her for a second. She was focused entirely on school, making sure she was getting the best grades possible to have the widest array of opportunities for college. When admissions rolled around, she applied to all the Ivys. Her parents would never be able to pay but there were plenty of scholarships she was eligible for. However, when the thought of leaving her dad all alone was soon to become a reality, she didn't have the heart to go.

A compromise was made.

She'd attend a smaller college in Aurora Bay, a small town on the coast where her father could get a job working the docks. The college fed right into the hospital there and had plenty of scholarship options, which would be easier to be accepted to. Accepted into pre-med, Manuel and Aurelia moved to a two-story in Fisher's Cove.

Her entire life is medicine, practically living in the library during the semesters. During the summer of her senior year of undergrad, Aurelia applied for an internship at the hospital which turned into a permanent position at the front desk. Never the type to let life get int the way of her dreams, her only goal in life is to become the best pediatric oncologist Aurora Bay has ever seen.
