'And all at once, summer collapsed into Fall' - Oscar Wilde. A little self-care tip for the Autumn: keep it simple. Remember there's no rush to grow up and figure everything out all at once. Take time each morning to get up and make a wholesome breakfast. Focus on the things you got done rather than the things you didn't and even if you did nothing all day, be gentle still. Go outside on walks more often during daylight hours and soak in more sunshine. Sleep more if you need to, your body repairs most when you do. Get more out of conversations by talking deeper with few. Practise vulnerability and face truths if you're struggling (or even if you're not). Take big leaps one small step at a time. Push yourself a little more each day. Focus on learning more than on achieving; the journey more than the destination. Be proud of the small things you did when it was hard to do anything; brush your teeth, wash your face and comb your hair. Stay present for longer amounts of time each day and it'll get easier. Take in colour. Notice shape. Memorise emotion. . . . . . . . . . . . . . #igers #instagood #instadaily #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagram #book #writerscommunity #instawrite #l4l #girl #life #happy #love #beautiful #autumn #colour #cute #picoftheday #phd #minimalism #hijabi #art #model #colourful #London #scenery #travel

The word “Salaat” in Arabic is often translated to English as prayer; Salaat comes from the word Sela, or connection. I find that a rather more accurate description of this act of meditation, for Rasoul Allah (the messenger of Allah) Mohamad PBUH has once asked Bilal (a companion of the messenger with sincere vocal capabilities) to call for Prayer (Azaan, a word that stems from the word: Aouzon, or the permission to pray) and said: “Heal (or relieve us) with it (Azan)”. I’ve never realized that meaning, how one would feel healed or at peace after Salaat. My first impression was that I felt I have submitted to Allah’s command and that He will be pleased with my Salaat. On a second thought, Allah is not in need of anything, and that this is not the reward one gets from Salaat. The true rewards are to have peace of mind, to recharge your energy, to clear your mind, and to remind yourself that you are fully dependent on He who created you.
It was concluded that Salaat does not just benefit your soul; and to argue this point, I think this is because the soul has not yet been detected by the modern technology. Salaat actually recharge you with positive energy; it aligns your chakras, feeds them, and relieves your painful thoughts.. If you go through this 25 min video, there are actual scientific proofs for all of what I have mentioned. The video, though, does not clearly explain how you can heal yourself through Salaat. Well, for starters, think of Salaat as a way to transport you to a state where you know that Allah (The Lord), your creator, will be listening. This thought alone is just crumbling, humbling, and mind blowing. Before you begin your Salaat, think of what you are about to recite, “I have directed myself to He who has created the Heavens and Earth”. Total submission - gradual self-denial for as little as 5 - 8 minutes. During Salaat, just think of no one - The Lord knows best what you are in need of.
I know of people who do not know the purpose of Salaat. They think it is a valid reason for not practicing it. Some do practice it, but feel that they are not being sincere about it. Well, Salaat is your way to 5 daily meditation sessions, one at dawn, two through out your busy day, one at dusk, and the last being at night. Five times to connect, to surrender, to flee your busy day for few moments.
What follows Salaat is a feeling of numbness in the frontal lobe; it becomes less active. It may sound bad! It is not. It is one way to clear your mind, and allow for positive thoughts, great ideas, solutions to problems, and good mood to jump in.
Lastly, I would like to add a verse from Qur’an (Taubah 103) that I’ve often read, perhaps understood, but now can realize its profound meaning: “خذ من أموالهم صدقة تطهرهم وتزكيهم بها وصل عليهم إن صلاتك سكن لهم والله سميع عليم” Khuth min amwalihim sadaqatantutahhiruhum watuzakkeehim biha wasalliAAalayhim inna salataka sakanun lahum wallahusameeAAun AAaleem
Take Sadaqah (alms) from their wealth in order to purify them and sanctify them with it, and invoke Allah for them. Verily! Your invocations are a source of security for them, (or, surely your prayer is a relief to them) and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

As you may already know, the 10th October was World Mental Health Awareness day. And when I logged onto social media that day, I was welcomed by an outpour of support, understanding and hope for a brighter future for mental illnesses. In the UK, approximately 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem. There are many, many reasons for someone to develop a mental illness - including several that we still don't know about. I know how important it is to be able to talk about a mental illness and feel heard... A lot of people won't understand what having one is like, but it gives me comfort to know that those people are nonetheless trying to understand. Personally, I know that there are so many people who are accepting and willing to support someone with mental illnesses... Though I know not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to say that they have had someone to help them through their own. A future I'd like and somewhat need to see is one where people who are struggling are given the help they need. I want to be part of the therapeutic endeavours that medical research will have to offer. I want families to stay together for longer. I'm hopeful, guys. So hopeful. <3 . . . . . . . . . . . #igers #instagood #instadaily #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagram #book #writerscommunity #instawrite #l4l #girl #life #happy #love #beautiful #autumn #colour #cute #picoftheday #mentalhealth #hijabi #art #model #colourful #London #scenery #travel

So you have some kind of routine: you wake up, shower, have a cup of coffee, get dressed, go to work or school, come home, eat, sleep and repeat. Maybe you're young, or maybe you're a little older. Perhaps you have kids or maybe you're someone who wishes to have a couple someday. Maybe you're financially well off, or maybe you're working 3 jobs to help pay off the basic bills. Whoever you are, however old, whatever challenges you've faced; you've got one book with a lifetime of pages to fill. Spend your time doing the things you love. And if you can't afford that, work jobs that will help you to do so. Be with people you appreciate and who appreciate you and your ideas. Break things and make new things out of the old. Travel alone or with the people you care about. Don't listen to the voice sitting on the backburner that's telling you settle for less than what makes you happy just because everyone else is doing it. You write your own story. Nobody should care about it more than you do. Fill it with as many experiences as you can whilst also trying to see the value in everything you do... even if it's just a night of reading books under the covers. And when you fall down, pick yourself back up and try something else. Something different. Something interesting and new and wonderful. And, finally, if there's just one piece of advice that you really should take on board, it just has to be: always wear sunscreen. . . . . . . . . . . . . #igers #instagood #instadaily #bookish #bibliophile #bookstagram #book #writerscommunity #instawrite #l4l #girl #life #happy #love #beautiful #autumn #colour #cute #picoftheday #motivation #hijabi #art #model #colourful #London #scenery #travel
