I found your tumblr about your AU and got curious.

Would characters' bending statuses be swapped - like Zuko becoming a nonbender and Sokka a waterbender - or would it be the same as the OG with Zuko still firebending and Sokka not being a bender? And would Hakoda and Kanna become waterbenders or still be nonbenders?

Mhm,Zuko is a non bender is Sokka is a waterbender,I wasn't going to go with that idea at first but I figured I have to since in the original Zuko is the one who teaches Aang firebending when he joined the gaang and this AU is very similar to the canon story. Kanna and Hakoda are also waterbenders in this AU but I'm not sure about Ozai and Iroh

Okay but who takes bato’s spot… If Ozai is Hakoda then he needs a Bato doesn’t he? But Ozai doesn’t have someone close to him in the show.. Unless you count Zhao? But it was more of an employee/employer kind of vibe…. That’d be kind of funny to see though. Just. Non evil Zhao. Would Zuko still despise him like in the show? Or would he be like Sokka is with Bato in the show?

i was actually considering to make up a character to be in Bato's spot but I thought it'd be very random so I didn't.

I also considered Zhao for it a while ago and thinking about it again it kind of makes sense,and also yes,it would be indeed a bit funny to see lol since I guess there isn't much of a verity of characters to choose from,yes that is the case here.

I think swapped Zhao and Zuko would be like Sokka and Bato in the show but also with a very slight callback to the original show,idk how to make it work thay well xd

Okay hear me out: in this AU,Aang {in Toph's place} has one of these admiration crushes kids and teenagers sometimes have to Katara {In Azula's place} as a callback and a reference to the original show.

Of course they don't end up together but if Katara would hypothetically get redeemed,Aang would definitely trust her first

Aang having tea with Kanna

Kanna poured the tea into two separate wooden cups, before passing one of them to Aang

"Here is your tea" She holds it out the cup Infront of him, "You seem a little too young to be traveling alone..and to have tattoos also"

Aang looked at her with a raised eyebrow and an innocent expression "You seem too old",He takes the cup and Kanna laughs "Perhaps I am"

Aang looked away "I know what you're thinking,I look like I can't handle being by myself", "I wasn't thinking that" Kanna corrected

"But you wouldn't even let me pour my own cup of tea...i wouldn't mess it up"

Kanna smiled "I poured your tea because I wanted to and for no other reason"

Aang looked at her and he aswell returned the smile "I'm sorry,I just really messed up today..and people see me and think I'm weak,just because of the circumstances I was raised under..but I can take a situation in my own hands by myself...or at least I think so"

"You sound like my grandson..well sort of,he doesn't talk so nicely like you" She chuckled "But always thinking you can do things on your own without anyone's support,there is nothing wrong with letting people who love you help you...not that I love you,eugh I just met you"

Aang giggles "I didn't mean that exactly,but your grandson sounds fun to be around,where is he?'

Kanna sighs and takes a sip of her tea

"I've been tracking him actually..."

"Is he.....lost?'

"Yes a little bit,his life has recently changed and he's going through very difficult times, he's trying to figure out who he is and he went away.."

Kanna looked down at her tea

"Soo,now you're following him?" Aang asks, getting her to slowly raise her head "I know he doesn't want me around right now,but if he needs me I'll be there"

"Your grandson is very lucky..even if he doesn't know it"

Aang used air bending to get up

"Thank you"

"My pleasure" She nods

Does Sokka (in place of Zuko) also get a character development? Like, he's capturing the avatar but then turn into a good guy?

I'm also very exited to see Katara and Suki being besties :p

He actually does! Like Zuko in the canon he joins the "Gaang" (I need to find a new name for the gang lol) in the finale "book",that in this case will be called Water instead of Fire

And I definitely plan to make art and I'm also excited for more Katara,Suki and Yue as Azula,Mei and Ty Lee ^^

I've never seen Ty Lee getting swapped with Yue before,but I adore the idea! I hope we see more

[Main Characters]: Toph - {In the role of Aang} She has the pretty much same personality as in canon,only she can be more childish,like canon Aang. She grew up in a small town where she used to fight in the underground earthbending Lei Tai tournaments secretly from her wealthy and protective parents, Upon finding out she's the avatar and on top of always wanting to run away from her protective family,she got overwhelmed by the responsibility and she ran away and trapped herself inside the top of a mountain, using earthbending, remaining there for 100 years. Azula blew the place up in a moment of frustration towards her brother,Zuko

Azula - {In the role of Katara} Unlike the canonically brutal and rough firebenders,the Fire Tribe has many warm and welcoming individuals that fight with honour and respect,Azula doesn't seem to fit right in with them though because,like in the canon universe,she is clever and she is quite apathetic towards the enemy,but more in a petty way like a combination of a redeemed Azula and how canon Sokka was in the beginning,she eventually gets her character development. (She also isn't Toph's love interest by the way)

Zuko - {In the role of Sokka} Zuko is Azula's older brother,who despite his awkward and introverted nature,seems to get along better with most people from their Tribe,but always tried his best to include Azula with the rest. Although he had a hard time trusting Toph,not believing she was an actual Earthbender since the Water Nation had killed them all,he -like canon sokka- eventually trusts her and they all travel together.

Aang - {In the role of Toph} Aang is a 12 year old boy from the Air Kingdom,who got raised by monks and was kept around them his whole life, wanting to explore the world outside the Air Kingdom,he agreed to teach Toph Air bending. His methods of teaching are not how Toph expected,Aang was so calm and interrupted lessons sometimes to have fun,Toph had a hard time learning air bending as it used so different methods from what she knew,and when she was in the air she couldn't see with her feet, which also annoyed her (The whole vibe was kind of how Korra struggled to learn air bending when she was trained under Tenzin).
