WIP Snippet
“Another beer, please.” Ace leaned against her pool cue to avoid touching the top of the bar. She had made that mistake earlier and sticky fingers from spilled beer and God only knew what else had made her miss a few of her shots. On the bright side, it made the poor saps that she was hustling think they had a chance, so there was now close to five hundred dollars sitting on the edge of the pool table. That would be more than enough to keep her bike on the road for a while. If they weren’t sore losers, maybe she’d take one back to the motel with her help with any hurt pride.

Writer Questions – Pride Month Edition
Hello Friends!
I know that I haven’t been around all that much, but between manuscript edits and actually being social, there hasn’t been a lot of time for social media. That being said, I want to wish all my followers a happy Pride month. I wish you a month of acceptance, love, and enjoyment. I know that the current climate makes it hard to celebrate without fear, but I wish you all the happiness this and every month. You’re all so much stronger than I can even image, even though it sucks that you have to be.
Now, as I am a white straight cisgender female writer, this month makes me think about diversity and inclusion in my work. I always strive to have characters from across the spectrum of the human experience, I find myself getting concerned that I am overstepping my bounds. As a straight woman, I am always worried that I am being That Author when I write a character that isn’t in my different identify circles. However, I also want my books to be inclusive. I would never write a book about what it is like being gay, or black, or transgender, but I want those characters in the worlds I create.
My question is what suggestions to people in the LGBTQAi+ community have for authors writing non-heterosexual characters. Obviously, it is not your job to educate me, so don’t feel obligated to replay, but I honestly want to hear from people and learn from the community at large. If you feel like answer, please feel free to message me, submit, or send an ask.
I hope this message finds you well
-A.Fox
