Hi! I love your blog! Do you have like a list or something of college au? Or prompt based on college? I'm trying to write a story set in a isolated college - kinda old style college - but I'm laking ideas...if you can help me, I'll be very happy! Thanks
I’ll try to whip up some prompts. I don’t keep track of which prompts pertain to what subjects, and a Google search only turns up this prompt.

How does this blog work? If we fill a prompt, do you want us to submit it, or are we supposed to tag it, or do we only do that if we want to? If we use a prompt, should we link back? Sorry if you answered this somewhere before -- i didn't see it/couldn't find it
You can use these prompts however you like, and you don’t have to credit this blog. (I’m always excited when people do, but I get a kick out of being part of other people’s creative process.) You can choose to submit or @ this blog if you do want to credit me, but that’s mostly so that I can easily find and reblog it onto here.

Hi! I was just wondering what are a few (realistic) things that could happen during a high school lockdown?
It’s a drill. That’s the most likely thing. When I was in high school, sometimes our teachers would tell us that a drill (fire, tornado, lockdown) was scheduled and during what period so we would know ahead of time. Drills were never scheduled during lunch hours. I never got this courtesy when we had drills (fire, earthquake, lockdown) in elementary or middle school.
Drills usually last ~10 minutes. The students are supposed to get under their desks and stay silent. Lights go out in the classroom. My high school classrooms didn’t have any windows at all (I think because Illinois gets a lot of snow and this would make it hard to heat the school. There was actually a rumor that my school was originally built as a prison - which was untrue, it was originally a middle school. But I had actual adults swear up and down it used to be a prison and claim they were there when it opened as a high school.) When I was in elementary school, all of my classrooms had large windows, lots of natural light, and no enclosed hallways. We had these thick plastic curtains that were on a track and had to be rolled across the windows. When I asked, my fifth grade teacher told me they were for protecting us from broken glass. I have no idea if they were bullet proof.
When I was in fifth grade, I was angry at my teacher (I actually think I had an anxiety attack, but I’m not sure) and so I didn’t come back from lunch. I literally just hid in the bathroom for 2-3 hours. It was literally the closest bathroom to my class and nobody bothered to check to see if I was there. It was even the closest bathroom to the front office. Eventually I calmed down and I wanted to go back to class. I was suspended (I think for five days?) and I wasn’t allowed to go to the restroom without another student for the rest of the year. I think they put the school on lockdown to look for me. My stepmom said they called the police and that I “couldn’t have been hiding in the bathroom because that’s the first place they look”. Joke’s on them, I guess.
If it’s a legitimate lockdown, it might be because of something small, like an intruder on campus who managed to get past security but is unarmed, an intruder on campus who managed to get past security but is armed, a student reportedly being armed but they need a lockdown to search for weapons (or perhaps drugs), a student being armed and attacking others. Most high schools have security guards. For the few months I went to high school in California, there was no feasible way for security to check student IDs coming onto campus or search students belongings as they came in. It was a wide campus with multiple buildings and student parking lots as well as a community pool that was frequently utilized by gym classes. Security was mostly patrolling security guards who coordinated with the local police. In Illinois, there was a field and a single school building as well as a single parking lot for both staff and students. Everyone’s student ID was checked at the door. Non-staff and students had their state IDs checked and were directed to the office immediately. Security was four or five assistant principals in suits with walkie-talkies. I think if there were drugs or weapons involved, they would have to call the police to deal with it.

[SUBMISSION] Prompt 1930. The crash
She looked at him with tired eyes, tired of being lied to, tired of loving but not being loved back. Her eyes begged for silence, his silence, his love, just one hug and she knew it would all be okay.
“I don’t think we should see each other anymore.” He said.
It was the fact that she loved him that kept her standing there in front of him, that kept her from falling to the floor. The love was poison in her veins, but it still gave her the strength not to cry to the floor that day.
“Don’t ever talk to me again.” She demanded.
“As you wish.”
She remembered all the good times they shared, sneaking out at 3 am, laying in the road, talking about the future together like they were going somewhere. Making out in the backyards of strangers, dancing to the music in their head. His rhythm met her hips, she wasn’t his first, but he was hers. To him it was sex, to her it was a gift, to him. A gift she can never ungive.
Discussed by the lies she walked away from him this day, he taught her something she will never forget.
Everyone deserves a second chance, but not everyone deserves a third one.
And no one, no one deserves a fourth one.
That night she washed her entire body of this boy she a thought she loved, she apologized and cried to her body for letting a stranger touch and fake love to it. “I will never do this to myself again” she promised.
And now she will move on. And him, oh one day he’ll realize that she’s rare.
~R~based on my own experiences.
[END SUBMISSION]
