Hello, tumblr It has been a while since I posted, this seems like more of a safe space to express my opinion,

I feel like there are absolutely insane amounts of porn art on Twitter of female characters where the female form and body are so disgraced and contorted into obscure proportions, and sometimes I leave my timeline feeling kind of violated; I feel very scared to express this because I think, who am I to shame anyone? But at the same time, I see absolutely vile things; I see characters with insane bodies and children's faces; I see breasts the size of Mars, bent into poses that hurt even thinking about.

As a woman, I feel like this thought or even expression or pointing out how strange it is and how normalized it is really kind of makes me feel that if I say something, I will be attacked to no end by men and women alike.

What irritates me more than the actual thing is the possible consequences for expressing this and that my feelings as a woman seeing female bodies being depicted like this by men would be used against me. I have held my tongue so many times for fear of men turning the table and weaponizing feelings of discomfort instead of hearing me out.

Do you guys want to start a conversation about this, or do any artists relate to this feeling?

What is your webcomic gonna be about?

Due to the amount of work I'm currently under, the time of release of it is very questionable, but I am very happy you asked!

The story itself is something I created amongst going through some female moments and falling in and out of having feelings for someone. I manifested the mess into a character and eventually into a story. The main premise is about fairies living apart from humans discreetly, leading war humans are unaware of, and fighting humans' theft of land and destruction of nature by training fairies to become pixies and eliminating them in a seductive streak depending on their potential to become a systemic threat. One of them wasn't quite able to finish the job due to her overwhelming amount of empathy, she gets stuck trying to protect this human.

Where did you learn to paint? How long have you been doing it?

I have been drawing since I was a toddler, it was always my favorite thing to do and I was always hyper-fixated on it. That phase never left me growing up, so I was always enthusiastic about learning and getting better because if I was drawing in any capacity I was happy.

I study a lot of different artists I admire. I think the key to improving is intertwining studying real life, and art you find personally pleasing.

I am not a massive art nerd who I memorizes artists names, but I do make an effort to remember some who personally inspired me with their art style and vision ( keep in mind I am only referring to their art and when referencing them as inspiration I purely mean it in the technical art sense )

a whole bunch of Twitter artists that are younger than me so I am actually ashamed to name them cause why is this 15-year-old actually slaying my whole existence and I'm caught studying their shape design.

Now to address how I learn and advance my skills.

I don't know.

Actually, I kind of do and don't at the same time. I really am more of an impulsive, intuitive type, where I really do what I feel like and I sometimes get more adventurous while doing a piece or even doing a sketch, so I kind of think: What if I do this... But I don't know how to do that. And that's how I start researching and looking up how other people do it or I straight up just start guessing. Learning new things for me doesn't come from a place of "I am not good enough and I better study this or else no one will respect me" Learning new things for me comes from a place of looking at what I am doing and being like "omg wouldn't it be sick if I knew how to do this so I can do that on top of my sketch??" or "I wanna sketch this scene but wouldn't be cool If I drew it from an extreme perspective?"

Being enthusiastic and excited is the key, learn because you are excited to and study to add to your vision, not to compare yourself or try to reach a standard when the standard is constantly changing and literally the only people you're seeing as the standard are the people who do not care about it and love themselves and are excited to draw, that's why they make it look so easy.

sorry to ask, but what brushes do you use?

I change my brushes pretty often for sketching, but I usually use the same ones for lineart, and I stick to a lot of basic brushes for rendering such as airbrush for effects, blunt full opacity brush, and so on. Sadly I can't tell you where I got a lot of my brushes from because most of my favorites are brushes I got from other people and I kind of added some of my own tweaks to them. But I also have favorite brush packs I actually purchased. And for effects and for doing more graphic-looking rendering I like to use some of sam_does_arts brushes I received upon subbing to his patreon.

It is a bit of a bummer to spend money, for me it always was, especially on brushes, but these sets have proven themselves in quality and versatility. I use them every day and love their look and feel <3

Been a bit since I posted here, I just finished this commission and I have been asked to dress up my commissioners oc which is based on a panda, the original design made by another artist was gorgeous and It was tough to work on top of something so well designed and pretty (not sharing it since I didn't ask for permission and this artist is a bit bigger so I think my dm would drown among the other requests). But I am really happy with how it turned out, I really wanted to give her a balaclava and I am so happy my commissioner let me make this choice.
