the other thing with viktor is idk why some people seem to think he was secretly a eugenicist the whole time??? like i'm not sure why people sometimes jump to that instead of the progression of guy has a physical disability that makes him feel lesser than other people -> he suddenly gains the ability to remove that disability, which he views as a net improvement to his life -> he has a brain eating corrupted magic artifact that causes him to lose touch with reality to the point that he no longer sees the world the same affecting him for 6ish months -> zaun itself has a high population of people who are disabled in a way similar to him -> he begins to think that the way to help them is to similarly remove their disabilities and injuries and possibly isn't aware of the added side effects -> the person closest to him tries to kill him, merging him with the magic source and making him lose touch with reality even more -> THEN he starts forcefully stripping people of their humanity

like idk do you think viktor, who had such little say over his own technology to begin with, was sitting there in piltover for 7 years thinking oh man i can't wait until i can make a sick hivemind and remove everything that makes people individuals that would be so cool. he wasn't saying that shit about evolution in season 1 is all i'm saying. i think the more interesting way to view this is to consider that one of viktor's greatest flaws is that with his very limited perspective he still thinks he knows what's best for people. which without the hexcore's influence wasn't really that big of a problem especially since viktor has always been focused on helping other people. but that combined with the arcane isolating him and taking advantage of his insecurities and corrupting him + the betrayal from jayce is what led him down the path that he went down
