starryeyedfrey:
It was a slow day at work as Frey checked the flower stocks. They were supposed to receive a whole batch of hydrangeas today after all, and she was the only one in the store since her co-workers were also handling a shipment.
“That’s around 3 crates?” She mutters to herself as she tapped her pen on her checklist, and then proceeded to look at the flowers in the shop. “Yep 3 crates.”
She then walked back to the counter and put the list down. As she looked up she saw a customer walk in and smile at her. “I need some help. Think you’re up for the challenge?”
Frey smiled back at her and nods. “Sure! I’m up for any challenge! Then how may i help you on this fine day?”
Karen looked over the rows of flowers once more.
“I need flowers that would look nice in a home. Not too girly.”
Pink was out of the question. She did not want her home to be flooded with petals that were her least, and she meant least, favorite color ever. There was something about the color that was off-putting to her and it might have been that she grew up around a bunch of girly girls and never really fit in, but that was besides the point.
“Enough to fill four vases should be fine.”

@harbourpointe Baycourt Company Picnic
Karen couldn’t care less about what people thought of her cooking or if it was considered a picnic food, but she had been craving her Red Wine Barbecue Pork Ribs for some time. The picnic was an excuse to finally stop procrastinating and put in the work that it took to prepare and cook the perfect ribs. It was all about tenderness and flavor. She was no professional when it came to her skills in the kitchen, but she knew enough to get around.
This specific recipe she gotten out of her grandfather some years ago.

change-the-ending:
All technology had the ability to be temperamental. That was just a fact of life. But the fact that it happened so frequently at Manna’s house was absolutely incredible.
One moment, her baking was going excellently. The next, the oven somehow surged in temperature - something that Manna didn’t notice until the kitchen began filling with smoke.
Disaster averted, Manna sat in a rickety lawn chair in front of her house, all the windows open, smoke still gently wafting out behind her. She tried to relax in the sunlight, difficult as it might be, and when a young woman jogged past Manna cheerfully waved and beamed, trying to be neighborly, as if it didn’t look like she’d just recovered from a house fire.
The best part about Spring running was that it was easier to go a longer distance without having the heat drain all energy within five minutes of stepping out. It felt great to be able to run without feeling like she was about to faint from heat exhaustion; however, her run took an unexpected turn when an older woman cheerfully waved at her while the home behind her was filled with smoke.
“What the-”
Karen had already moved a couple of feet passed the woman, but slowed her pace and turned around. There were mixed feelings of confusion, curiousness, and concern, though the homeowner seemed okay.
“Is everything alright here?”

thepostboy:
Dirk didn’t go out to drink much. Even now that he was legal, alcohol wasn’t really his thing, y’know?
But he did appreciate good food, and even though he was perfectly capable of making his own at home, he also kinda-sorta needed ingredients to make a good meal. And with his budget as tight as it was, well… it’d be a while until he’d be able to go grocery shopping again. And even then, he wouldn’t be able to get all the things he wanted or needed. Sometimes, living like an adult really sucked.
Was this what Ivan had to deal with all those years? Yeesh.
But, he digressed. The Red Snapper was the perfect spot for a quick meal when he couldn’t make his own, and he found himself in there today. Picking at his curry as he watched the amusingly hot tempered bartender chew out a bunch of rowdy customers. Having dealt with plenty of those types himself at The Roast, he understood exactly what it was she was going through.

So after her heated proclamation, Dirk glances over at the rowdy group and then back to her. “You can just kick ‘em out, yeah? If they keep all that up. Though I doubt they’re gonna stop with anything short of an ass kicking.”
The fuse was about to blow when she heard some bystander speak up. That’s how it usually went. The people on the outside had a lot to say, but rarely were they seen jumping in to stop the situation. It was that much easier when they weren’t in the actual situation as it was happening.
“Kicking them out once won’t stop them from coming back another time.”
She shot the nosy brunette a look that told him that she didn’t want nor need his input. Nothing bothered her more than unsolicited advice and opinions and she had handled situations like this plenty of times before.
“But I haven’t beaten someone up in a long time... That could change today.”
Her eyes moved from the guy back to the group, that now stared at her unsure if she meant those words. If they were really curious, they could continue what they were doing. It was only a matter of time.

Floral Wines || Frey & Karen
@starryeyedfrey
Her home was feeling a little empty, so Karen felt that a few, nice floral arrangements would be the best way to brighten up the place and add a nice comfy and cozy feeling. There was only one problem... She didn’t know anything about flowers. General names and colors, sure, but nothing about meanings or perfect arrangements. To her, if the flowers looked nice together, that was all that mattered.
“Hey.”
Karen walked into Urban Gardens and immediately started looking at the flowers that greeted customers by the door.
“I need some help. Think you’re up for the challenge?”
She turned to the first employee she saw and smiled.

Day Off || Open
Karen sat up in her bed and stretched her arms up into the air. With the day off, she was able to enjoy sleeping in and taking the day to do whatever she wanted or nothing at all. The options were endless! And after thinking about all of the possibilities, she decided to start her day with a simple run to get her day started. Even if she did nothing else after, at least a little bit of exercise would make her feel productive for the day.
She moved off the side of her bed and to the bathroom to get ready for her late morning. Her teeth and hair were brushed, she changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top, and grabbed her phone and a pair of headphones. Once out of the house, she tied her hair into a ponytail and put her headphones in before starting her run.

Clean Up || Open
“I’m not cleaning this!”
Karen slammed her hand on the counter and left it there, glaring at a group that had been giving her a hard time. If each bartender was known for a trait by the customers, hers would be her strong personality, even towards the customers. She had a feeling that the differences between the workers was what kept her from being fired. There was something about the various personalities that the customers liked and if it kept her from having to change or losing her job, she didn’t care what they thought.
However, this group was really pushing their luck. They spilled every other drink handed to them purposely, chuckling after, and one had the audacity to drop a glass at one point claiming it was an accident. It had her wondering if this job was worth it because she was ready to jump the counter.

I’m Not Paying || Chase & Karen
@citricizingyourfood
“Chase, my man!”
Karen walked up to her co-worker before an early shift at The Red Snapper. Her typical schedule had her working nights, but with the day off from the mart and another co-worker needing their shift covered, she stepped in for the extra money. There was the fact that she wanted to see who worked the morning shifts and compare the crowds to her usual time, too. The late night crew typically got stuck with more than their job description called for because someone in the morning crew can’t do their job right.
“An early shift and I still work with you. Must be fate telling us-”
She paused and smiled.
“That you need to make me some free food!”

Drink Up || Calvin & Karen
@mycareerisinruins
“I’m throwing in the towel.”
Dramatically, Karen tossed the rag she had in her hand on the counter and slumped over next to it. She had recently shined the counter and lying on it meant that she would have to spot shine that area again, but she was done for the evening. With the long, stressful work days, the bar regularly became busy after five o’clock and only being scheduled nights, it was a lot. Especially after working her shift at the MinuteMart.
“Calvin, you got the rest, right?”
She looked over to the man and offered a wink and a smile.

Karen came home to see a small box waiting for her from Ann. Surprisingly enough, it wasn’t a bottle of wine like she was used to getting from her, which they always would up drinking together. Instead, it was a small bracelet with a ‘K’ on it. Knowing Ann, that meant that she must have had a matching one with an ‘A’ and the other girls in their group had corresponding ones as well.
“I could have guessed it was from her without reading the note.”
She said to herself, putting the bracelet on her wrist. Once the bracelet was in place, she walked over to Ann’s room, let herself in, and jumped on her bed.
“Let’s go out tonight! We can all show off our bracelets that way.”
‘Tis the season to be tipsy
@deskmaiden @bad-andboozy @evielefleur @highonrhythm
A small box with a bracelet with each of the girl’s initial of their first name accordingly was left for them. Along with that was a little note that read:
For my drinking buddies~ Let’s go out sometime, yeah?
-Ann

One thing that bothered Karen more than anything after a shift at work was cleaning up after her fellow bartenders. She understood that when things got busy, it can be harder to keep up with things, but they could take the two seconds to place the bottles back where they belong. Having to organize the shelf once the place closes is something that could be easily avoided.
“Not really, unless you really want to.”
She couldn’t imagine why he would want the extra work other than to close up faster, but even then, he would be in her way. He’d still have to finish his glasses after this. She placed a bottle back on the counter and sighed loudly.
“This has to be my least favorite part of the day. I’d rather deal with a line of customers.”
Last Shift || Karen & Calvin
@bad-andboozy;
Wiping down at the end of the day was monotonous work. With the holiday season approaching, the restaurant, and thus the bar, was seeing a lot more customers, which meant things often got swept under the rug until they could get to it later.
Calvin was busy cleaning the glasses and looked over at his fellow bartender, a young woman with brown hair and blonde bangs. “You need any help over there,” they asked.

Karen was cleaning glasses behind the bar as most bartenders would do on their off-time before a familiar face walked in. Though in reality, every face was familiar since she was really good with names and faces.
“I’m as good as I can be doing a job like this, Rebecca. I hope your day was more eventful than standing behind a counter all day.”
With a quick nod, she took the glass she had in her hand and filled it with the needed ingredients for the simple rum and coke. The glass was then slid to the woman with ease and smile.
“You should try something different next time.”
Candy is Dandy but Liquor is Quicker || Rebecca and Karen
The day passed by slowly, and worse than just being slow it was annoying busy with uncooperative clients. Rebecca had spent a couple of days drawing designs for them and they turned down each one since “They weren’t modern enough.” It was irritating working with pretentious clients like those. But once the day was done she began going to her favorite place, the Red Snapper.
Rebecca has been going enough to know the bar tender personally. She was a nice woman and Rebecca genuinely enjoyed her company while she was there. Maybe it was the decent tips she left? But she liked that think they were friends none the less. Soon enough she was in front of the establishment. She took her usual barstool and found her favorite bartender.
“Hey Karen. How’re you doing today hun?” Rebecca asked giving her a smile. “Can I have some rum and coke?”

Before going to mass on the night of Christmas Eve, Eve had stopped off to deliver gifts at a select few apartments. Her cousin Karen was an obvious choice, and Eve set the gift in front of Karen's door with a gentle smile on her face. Inside was a box of hand made liquor infused truffle chocolates and a violet coloured scarf. Attached was a note in Eve's flowing handwriting: To Karen, mon couer! Wishing you a very merry Christmas! All my love, Evie <3
Karen had thought she heard something outside her door, but when she opened it, all she saw was a box with an attached note. She picked up the note to read it and smiled when she saw it was from Eve. She never missed a gift. Once she took the box inside, she placed it on the counter and began to open it. What was inside made her smile even more.
“Ann! Break out the glasses! Eve sent the most amazing chocolates and we need wine.”
