The particular kind of depression I had undergone has a higher morbidity rate than heart disease or any cancer... It is projected that by the year 2020 depression could claim more years than war and AIDS put together.

People don't seem to understand why I get all screwed up over people not fit to be parents wanting to have children. When you spent your entire childhood being told you weren't worth the food you ate and the bed you slept on, it becomes pretty fucking obvious that most people on earth shouldn't be allowed to parents, because they can barely even act like adults.
I'm just gonna say it, since old trauma of mine is cropping up...
If you can't afford to have a child and actually provide for it - do not bring the child into the world. It's fucked up and cruel.

The shower. I cry in the shower. It's the only place I feel safe to do so and it often takes a lot of time to get myself to feel those feelings because they are so physically painful. It's my place to feel things because it is warm and safe to me. I don't cry very often, but I can in the shower because there is no one there to judge or criticise or yell at me for using up all the hot water. The most difficult hurdle has actually been overcoming my own criticism. My own fear and ignorance about feelings and grief and trauma.
Anger is a different story. For that, I put my headphones on and I go for a walk.
And stress? Often for me it's about being in a safe place. I have a little routine where every evening after 5pm I sit in my room with everything closed and watch TV. Because its something I can control fully.
Hope this helps
what is peoples secret to mentally allowing themselves to cry and freak out and panic over something instead of just shutting down and freezing and dissociating from any feelings and not expressing anything thus letting that pent up stress and anger keep building up but unable to be released. just asking for a friend

And sign this petition if you are as furious about the new abortion laws as I am. It is on the White House website, and they will have to respond if it reaches 100,000 signatures.

Just for once I’d like to tell the gate agents and flight attendants that my folding wheelchair is going into the onboard closet and not have them tell me there’s “no room”. Bitch that’s a wheelchair closet, not a “your bags” closet. Move your damn bags where they belong.

July was really hot, so I only went outside at night and took bunch of pictures and drew on top of them when I got home. I couldn’t draw much other stuff because of the heat, but these phone doodles were quick and fun. I have always loved to imagine what kind of monsters and dragons would live in my neighborhood.

Okay… is this some dumb new feature, @staff? I commented on someone’s post. Not reblogged, just commented and now I’m getting a notification for Every. Single. Person. who has commented after me. I don’t want or need this.

While I think it’s great seeing all the excitement and press coverage about India legalizing gay sex, I think it’s really important to remember that this is NOT India progressing due to Western influence. This is India decolonizing.
The homophobic statute that was overturned is a product of British colonialism in India. Prior to that, India had a rich and vibrant queer community that played important functions in society. There were queer Hindu gods and hijras serve as an example of how queerness in society was venerated. This is not something to patronize India over and congratulate ourselves in the West for. This is a victory for India reclaiming their culture.

kids, when you’re choosing your college schedule, you’ll hear a voice saying “just take the 8AM class. it won’t be that bad. you’ve done it for this long” that’s the devil talking
