OKAY so there’s two reasons for this ask:

Have you ever heard King and Lionheart by Of Monsters and Men? It’s one of my favorites for platonic dynamics, and I was listening to it earlier and getting some pretty strong Obi vibes (specifically season 2 Obi with both Zen and Shirayuki.)

2. With that— I’m working on putting together an Obi playlist, so I’m here to ask for some song recs :D I listened to How Long, How Low, and I loved it!

This was the SO chaotic

Based on true events.

Some ppl and I were playing R.E.P.O. and, before we had ever encountered a room such as this, one of us full sprinted through those doors as usual; I only heard an abruptly cut off scream before rushing the cart through those same doors to pester the other about leaving the cart behind and… well I think you could guess what happened next XD

Thought:

I see a lot about “Leo’s real smile” and I always ADORE the concept. So wholesome. So good. Lots of angst potential. But…. Idea. What if, in the future, Leo learns to fake his real smile. Obviously, wouldn’t be a perfect replica (or it could be if you really want it to be), but it’s just close enough to be uncanny. It’s just that one bit off that makes it all feel so wrong. So when that “real” smile comes out, it’s comforting… and then it’s so so painful. Because that’s why Leo does it!! He realized in the future that his little fake smiles stopped bringing comfort, but his true smile always did! And it’s so devastating for his brothers because through all the masks, all the facades that Leo puts on, his real smile always shone through. There was at least one thing Leo couldn’t hide. There was one part of him that was still genuine in the midst of the show. They thought he could never take that away from them. Never dull the light of that smile. And then one day, he did.

Recovery period. Leo smiles. First real one in months. Everyone lights up when they see it, whether it’s the beaming smile and the surprise hug from Mikey, or the soft and proud look from Raph. But… Donnie. The Donnie who has been trapped in the future for the past two years. The Donnie who has been forced to watch a twin much older than his own force a smile in every conversation, every laugh a plea to ignore the pain present in his eyes. The Donnie who has been forced to take note of every detail of that real smile as to not mistake it for the fake. The Donnie who has learned that real smile is never coming back. It’s always a fake. It’s always off in some way, but it got harder to spot each time. When he sees his twin sitting with his family, with that same smile, His face falls. It’s fake and he knows it. He searches for the twitch, for the slight discomfort, for any tell of the facade. It HAS to be fake. It’s a mirror of the countless “real” smiles of his older twin. The others notice Donnie’s face. His twisted expression in a time of so much relief and joy. He falters. The way Leo’s face dropped into something of worry when he met Donnie’s expression, was the smile real? Was Donnie just so stained by the future that he can’t accept the present? That is Leo, his twin, his 17 year old twin, his real twin who hasn’t been dulled from years of loss and war. That smile was real. Leo finally felt free to reveal it to them after all the chaos. And Donnie ruined it. He ruined the moment, he ruined their happiness, he ruined it and he doesn’t know how to fix it because he doesn’t know how to fix himself.

“Don? Hey, are you alright?” Leo’s voice rang in his ears. The true concern in his voice made the pain worse. Donnie was broken. Leo was happy only a moment ago and he ruined it. He was fine. They’ve already addressed his issues. He is healing. He is supposed to be fixed by now. It doesn’t matter how he feels. He is better now. Confronting his dumb-dumb mental block would only set them back.

The mask slipped on without warning, he smiled one he’d seen so many times. He opened his mouth to let a lie slip ‘I’m fine’ he wanted to say. ‘it’s nothing’ he wanted to plead. Instead, knowing his own notoriously great track record with lies (he thought sarcastically), he dropped the fake smile and just… left. Not his greatest moment but far from his worst.
