Thoughts on Caridi's "Faithful Obedience and Fraternal Correction"
DALLAS - Opinion piece by Greg Caridi, the Chancellor of the Diocese of Dallas.
---
Caridi makes statements that seem to be in line with the Church's theology and canons. I do have two questions for him though.
First, can you provide evidence that any of the corrections in the Diocese of Dallas which you term improper come from a place of hate or have been delivered in a hateful manner?
About 2/3 of your article seems to rely on a straw man assumption that most if not all of these “improper” corrections have come from a place of hate or have been delivered in a hateful manner.  While there is all sorts of behavior on social media and the internet, I have yet to see any instance of public hateful attacks on the pastors in the Diocese of Dallas.  I am very interested to know if examples do exist.
Second, let’s assume that your analysis of Thomas Aquinas regarding lay correction of prelates is 100% accurate.  Perhaps not all of these corrections are being performed in the proper manner that the church prescribes. However, since they are not coming from a place of hate nor are they hateful, they should be worthy of consideration even if their manner is improper.
My question to you is, as chancellor of the Diocese of Dallas, what steps have you taken to address the concerns that are driving these public statements, and what steps has the local ordinary taken to address these public statements?
If there is a proper way to issue corrections to prelates, there is also a proper way for those prelates and their administrations to receive correction. While the laity are obliged to behave in a manner fitting to them, even if they have a point, those on the receiving end of correction should discern if the laity have a point, even if the laity are behaving in an unfitting manner.
The laity may not be behaving in a fitting manner, but, Mr. Caridi, you seem to be spending a lot of your effort on pointing out how their behavior is unfitting rather than addressing the root problems, problems which you have much power to address.  I'm happy to work with you to share with the laity how best to issue these corrections in fitting and proper ways.  Are you willing to address the problems that have given rise to these outcries?

What the heck.
Important to keep in mind: the pope is only infallible in matters of faith and morals when speaking ex cathedra, or in his full role as Pope.  A statement from an interview for a documentary about someone’s life does not count as speaking ex cathedra.

DALLAS - Dallas County Commissioners voted to slash parts of Judge Clay Jenkins’ order that everyone in the county must wear masks while out.  Those who do not wear masks will not be fined or have any issue with law enforcement.
King Jenkins’ order has been curtailed.  Did he even have the legal authority to force people to wear masks in the first place?

WASHINGTON - Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that using hookup apps is up to you, and you should evaluate it based on your own comfort for risk.
So let me get this straight: if I want to engage in immoral acts and risk spreading disease, that's my choice, but if I want to go to church on Sunday (which has a much lower risk of spreading coronavirus than fornication), the government will fine or jail me?
