Sometimes I feel like I'm a witch doctor. My son had a piece of glass in his foot and wouldn't let me touch him. So I crushed some cloves mixed it with a bit of water and placed it on his foot with a wet paper towel for a few minutes. It numbed the area enough for me to poke around and remove the glass with ease.
