#Silkworm 🐛 (that’s the closest emoji to a silkworm I could find 😆 sareh)
I am not an adventurous eater. Although some of my favorite dishes might be categorized by most as exotic food (paklay, dinuguan, papaitan, bopis—I swear I’m not aswang, entrails just entice me 😂😂😂) and some even illegal *cough-sanga-cough*, I never would have imagined myself munching on creatures that are perhaps meant to munch on me when I’m gone. (Ok, I know that’s not accurate but you get my point).
But my sister and brother-in-law are the most persuasive people on earth I know (Kuya sam just kept showing off these tiny things as I took a snap of ‘em. #supportivemuch haha) and they got me to finish a cup of this steamed Silkworms. Forget about #chichaworm, this is the real deal. Hahaha😂😂 and since I ate it, I thought I might as well make the most out of the experience and—welll– enjoy it.
It tastes earthy, like peanuts but less sweet (my kind way of saying it tasted like soil.haha) Texture is soft as it was boiled/steamed, much like soaked corn kernels. It also doesn’t have a repugnant smell; smelled natural even.
It’s an acquired taste really (much like beer, eh? Haha) Once you get past the fact that it’s a crawling worm that looks like a cockroach (hehe), you’ll come to see that it’s not that bad (Seriously, it’s not. I might have upchucked a little. But it’s ok. Hahaha)
Anyway, it’s another must-try. ❤

It was the first time in a long time that I allowed myself to think uninhibited. No voices to tell me I was wrong. No voices to tell me to think otherwise. No voices to tell me to stop. Realizations are epiphanic when you have them in a time of solitude. There’s something about giving yourself the time to set things in perspective. There is just you and your unsullied thoughts. It’s like having a cup of coffee with a friend after a tumultuous mischief. Except that the friend is you.

Thanks, @don_kenito! #happy29thbirthdaylapadiday! ❤ Not that I'm ungrateful or anything but Ken knows how strict I am about gift-giving lest our relationship be patterned on the what-is-expected, the routinary, the-society-mandated-standards, or whatnot. Heck, the first thing I told him, courting me was "Don't buy me flowers. Don't give me choc'lates". I understand the struggle Kenneth went through to please me because I literally am so hard to please... like you have to rack your brain and heart off to be able to strum the strings in my heart. (My friends could attest I am not exaggerating) My love language does not put emphasis on material things or tradition. I abhor tradition. I'd rather be wooed in a way where Ken puts a part of his soul in it. Ken could give me a rock and if the rock has a story of love to tell, I'd keep it. He had written me cards (cards he made himself) and arts-and-crafts (which he also made), trying to live up to my caprices. But ken has find ways to revise the traditional for me. He brought me flower once, 5 years into our relationship. I had just woken up, he stood on my bedside, roses in hand... And before I got upset he explained, "I've never bought you flowers... and you said you were never given a bouquet because you didn't want to. But I want you to know how it feels like to receive one. And I want to be the first." ❤ Now, on my 29th, he bought me this bag. I didn't need it really. And I didn't really want to burden him. But I saw in his eyes the pride of having given me something he bought with his hard-earned money. He said, "Sagie lang gud, Nis. Gusto ko tagaan ka." He was gleaming.
