This past weekend I went to Wizard World Chicago with several friends.  We had passes to get an autograph from John Barrowman and to also see his panel. He’s such an amazing guy.  He really enjoys doing Cons and interacting with his fans. His panel was a blast. He wore a Dr. Who Tardis romper and heels when he came out. He’s funny, interesting and really caring. He spoke out on trans issues, sang and shared some personal stories. Great fun. The last pic I snapped from his autograph line, he was up on a chair adjusting his sign.  Nice butt. He actually mooned the Catherine Tate line that was next to us but I missed the shot! These pics aren’t great, I wish they had turned out better. He moved around so much most were blurry. I wanted to take a selfie with him instead of paying for the professional pic, but they even charge for a selfie and I was flat broke.

John Barrowman is in the hospital with appendicitis and of course he’s been putting up videos on Facebook while also drugged. Should be getting his appendix out this morning I think.

50) In 2014, he was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to Light Entertainment and to Charity.

49) After Torchwood JB got a good gig in the US playing the Businessman/ Assassin Malcolm Merlyn (a.k.a. Ra's al Ghul) in Arrow. He has now played same character on four different series: Arrow (2012-6), The Flash (2014), Supergirl (2016) and Legends of Tomorrow (2016).

47) waaay back in 2006, JB featured on Cbeebies Storytime (the BBC Children's channel) telling 5 stories over 5 nights. Stories included a Pipkin of Pepper, The Bumposarus and Winnie the Witch amongst others.

44) JB, along with his sister Carole, have contributed to various Torchwood spin- off media, including:

top image: Torchwood comic series (2010, 16 issues)

middle image: Torchwood comic series (2017, 5* issues so far.)

bottom image:  Torchwood novel, Exodus Code, released in 2013.

*I've only got 1 to 3 so far but I think there's been 5.

43) In 2006 JB got the star role of Captain Jack Harkness in the Doctor Who spinoff series Torchwood. The first series of 13 episodes started on BBC3 in 2006, the second series switched channels to BBC2 in 2008. It swapped channels again in 2009 for it's third series, this time premiering in a prime slot on BBC1. It comprised of only 5 episodes broadcast on 5 consecutive days, which is unusual for a BBC channel. Series 4 hopped across the Atlantic to the US, premiering on the Starz channel in 2011. JB was only one of two original cast members to star in all 41 episodes.

42) JB co-starred on Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's Putting it Togther along side Carol Burnett and George Hearn in 2000. JB sang Marry Me a Little as well as a few other songs. The blooper reel on that's a giggle too :o)

I meant to post these on Sunday, but I got waylaid by unexpected events. Anyhow, I now have time to finish this celebration off :)

41) JB played Scotland's most famous poet, Robbie Burns, in the mini-musical Red Red Rose in 1996. This was a final contender with 2 other mini-musicals which were competing to be made into full length musicals. Sadly it didn't win, but at least the songs got released on CD.

40) he's done a cookbook, which included family recipes :o). it was sold at his Tours that year and the money went into a college fund for his niece.
