Saving this for history purposes.
For the record, it was all unnecessary BS too. The umps called for the field to be tarted before the rain even started falling. They could have easily gotten through another inning or two.

This is amazing on so many levels.
1. Damian Lillard showing his roots.
2. Loyalty to Oakland when the Warriors are about to move to the city.
3. Are you kidding? Anytime anyone shows off their A’s love it happiest me!
4. Oaklandish hat in A’s colors.
This Warriors fan is loving it. So stoked for this matchup.

I’m still bitter about missing this game. I had planned to go but got a last minute invite to a birthday dinner for an old friend that I hadn’t seen in a while. I *dropped my brother off* at the Coliseum for the game on my way to dinner. A few hours later he texted me that now he could claim to have seen two no hitters in person, and that was how I found out what I had missed.
At least I’ve still got Braden’s Perfect Game in my personal archive! One mark off on the baseball bucket list!

April 20, 2018
Sean Manaea tosses the 12th no-hitter in A’s franchise history and the first since Dallas Braden’s perfect game in 2010, when he keeps the opponents hitless in the team’s 3-0 victory over the Red Sox. The 26-year-old southpaw’s performance ends Boston’s run of 3,987 games without being no-hit, a streak dating back Mariners’ Chris Bosio’s no-no against the club at the Kingdome on April 22, 1993.

National Siblings Day
It's late, but I want to acknowledge National Siblings Day before it's over, and my baseball blog seems the appropriate place, because there's nothing my family does better together than baseball.
I grew up, classic middle child, complete with the associated syndromes, with my two brothers. I was raised a total tomboy, more interested in playing sports than clothes or makeup. But even so I wasn't really close with my brothers as kids. That didn't happen until our late 20s or so.
Both of my brothers got married in 2017 and my sibling group grew by two. Having sisters for the first time in my life has been an absolute joy for me. I adore them both and feel so lucky that my brothers found them and brought them into our family.
Back in February we took our first ever siblings-only vacation to Phoenix for Spring Training and had a killer time. I can't wait for the next opportunity for us to travel together as a group, whether or not it's related to baseball!!

The new home of the A’s AAA team. I do think it’s semi-hilarious how since they got dumped by the Rivercats (a wound that is still fresh and painful to me) that their M.O. has been, “what PCL team has the newest ballpark?” Nashville? Check! What? Vegas is building one? Well why the hell not!

Ramon Laureano was on fire last night. Sure, the homer is the flashy thing to share, but his throw was way more fun to watch! (Though....unpopular opinion...I’m not convinced he got him.). This guy seemed to come out of nowhere last season and he is so damn fun to watch. Here’s hoping he keeps putting on a show!

A tradition that we A’s fans are really starting to love.... Opening Day blasts from Khris Davis. And he did it twice this year thanks to the Japan series!

Opening day... my personal holiday and favorite day of the year. The one day when everything seems possible. Right now I’m sitting in my brother’s San Jose apartment waiting to leave for my 14th consecutive Opening Day at the Oakland Coliseum (the vast majority of which were spoiled by King Felix), and I just want to kick off this new blog with one of my favorite baseball quotes, from Field of Dreams...
“They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. "Of course, we won't mind if you look around", you'll say. "It's only $20 per person". They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it, for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sit in shirtsleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces...
....The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game; it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again. Oh…people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come.”
