FRIENDLY REMINDER
Tumblr media
I was sent this by the NaNoWriMo admins and literally every author needs to know this.
Not just people doing NaNoWriMo.
Published authors, unpublished authors, fanfic authors, short story authors, it doesn’t matter. Everyone needs to know this. If you write or want to write, you need this.

My first story like this was a kids book i made for a contest in elementary school it was about Godzilla fighting a giant mutated cat (weird i know) but it’s what got me to like writing in the first place my elementary school even put it in the library for kids to check out despite it not being that good when i look back on it i still feel proud thinking back on it
Do y'all have that one story?
That one story that was your first BIG project as a creator, your first passion?
And as you’ve grown in your art maybe you’ve realized it was cliche or a little ridiculous or just generally not as good as you thought it was back then, but you still hold it near and dear to you because it was your first thing and it consumed you and it showed you what it was like to really create?
Those stories are important to our history as writers and they should be treasured and loved forever even if you’re no longer actively working on it
Never forget that one story

In honor of Adventure Time ending tonight, here are some things only true veteran fans remember:
The “Susan is Finn’s mom” theory
The “Fionna and Cake are the real characters’ ancestors” theory
The “Susan is actually Fionna and also she’s Finn’s mom and she wears that hat in memory of Cake” theory
BMO gender discourse
Obsessively checking Natasha Allegri’s tumblr for new fanart and probably using one of her bubbline works as your phone background
Watching fubblegum progressively transform from a popular ship into the most hated pairing in the entire fandom
Listening to Youtube covers of “Remember You” on repeat
The “Mathematical” recap videos and their subsequent purge from the internet after “What Was Missing” aired
People writing 800 word essays about how Princess Bubblegum was actually the most despicable television character in history because of that one thing she did with Flame Princess
Actually remembering a time when this was a simple show and Finn was happy
The great bubbline drought that occurred between “What Was Missing” and “Sky Witch”
“They should move the show to Adult Swim because Cartoon Network would never allow gay characters!”
Digging through piles of weird NSFW fanfiction on fanfic.net because for some reason the entire fandom was really fucking horny all the time
Actually knowing who Rebecca Sugar was before Steven Universe was a thing

STORY TIME:
I work in a decent sized, local, indie bookstore. It’s a great job 99% of the time and a lot of our customers are pretty neat people. Any who, middle of the day this little old lady comes up. She’s lovably kooky. She effuses how much she loves the store and how she wishes she could spend more time in it but her husband is waiting in the car (OH! I BETTER BUY HIM SOME CHOCOLATE!), she piles a bunch of art supplies on the counter and then stops and tells me how my bangs are beautiful and remind her of the ocean (“Wooooosh” she says, making a wave gesture with her hand)
Ok. I think to myself. Awesomely happy, weird little old ladies are my favorite kind of customer. They’re thrilled about everything and they’re comfortably bananas. I can have a good time with this one. So we chat and it’s nice.
Then this kid, who’s been up my counter a few times to gather his school textbooks, comes up in line behind her (we’re connected to a major university in the city so we have a lot of harried students pass through). She turns around to him and, out of nowhere, demands that he put his textbooks on the counter. He’s confused but she explains that she’s going to buy his textbooks.
He goes sheetrock white. He refuses and adamantly insists that she can’t do that. It’s like, $400 worth of textbooks. She, this tiny old woman, bodily takes them out of her hands, throws them on the counter and turns to me with a intense stare and tells me to put them on her bill. The kid at this point is practically in tears. He’s confused and shocked and grateful. Then she turns to him and says “you need chocolate.” She starts grabbing handfuls of chocolates and putting them in her pile.
He keeps asking her “why are you doing this?” She responds “Do you like Harry Potter?“ and throws a copy of the new Cursed Child on the pile too.
Finally she’s done and I ring her up for a crazy amount of money. She pays and asks me to please give the kid a few bags for his stuff. While I’m bagging up her merchandise the kid hugs her. We’re both telling her how amazing she is and what an awesome thing she’s done. She turns to both of us and says probably one of the most profound, unscripted things I’ve ever had someone say:
“It’s important to be kind. You can’t know all the times that you’ve hurt people in tiny, significant ways. It’s easy to be cruel without meaning to be. There’s nothing you can do about that. But you can choose to be kind. Be kind.”
The kid thanks her again and leaves. I tell her again how awesome she is. She’s staring out the door after him and says to me: “My son is a homeless meth addict. I don’t know what I did. I see that boy and I see the man my son could have been if someone had chosen to be kind to him at just the right time.”
I’ve bagged up all her stuff and at this point am super awkward and feel like I should say something but I don’t know what. Then she turns to me and says: I wish I could have bangs like that but my darn hair is just too curly.“ And leaves.
And that is the story of the best customer I’ve ever had. Be kind to somebody today.

I need to do this more
Some people aren’t going to like what you write. Write it anyway.
Some people, people you know objectively suck at being a human being, will get more kudos, more comments, more recs. Write it anyway.
Some of your friends aren’t going to read what you write. Write it anyway.
Some of the people you support the most won’t support your work. Write it anyway.
Some people are going to say your characterization is 100% wrong. X would never. Write it anyway.
It’s been done before. Write it anyway.
Your writing might not measure up to the fandom greats. Write it anyway. (I can guarantee they didn’t measure up at some point either)
Some people aren’t going to rec your work. Write it anyway. (And make your own recs)
Write it anyway.
Write it anyway.
Write it anyway.

Manipulation Tale Chpt. 0
The Core shook violently as parts of the ceiling collapsed. Monsters screamed as they ran towards the exits. Clouds of dust being kicked up as monsters ran over the remains of anyone unfortunate enough to get crushed by the raining debris.
“G-gaster, g-g-grab my hand!“ Alphys screamed as she reached out grab the Royal Scientists hand. While Sans was desperately trying to pull her back.
"Come on Alphys we gotta get out of here! There’s nothing we can do to help him!” Alphys fought harder almost knocking herself and Sans off the shaking walkway as the Core started shaking more violently. Gaster looked up at them nervously his skull cracked from the piece of rubble that knocked him off the walkway.
“H-h-how can you say that S-Sans? He’s your father!” Alphys screamed at the short skeleton hoping to convince him to help her save her mentor. She was crushed when he only shook his head no. His permasmile looking melancholic, Alphys was prepared to scream at him until a voice interrupted them.
“Forget about me save yourselves!” Alphys and Sans looked down in shock before looking at each other Alphys opened her mouth to protest only to shut it when she saw the look on Gaster’s face. “Go it’s too late to save me anyway.” Before either of the two scientists could reply they were suddenly lifted off the ground and tossed off the walkway by Gaster’s antigravity magic.
“Come on Alphys.” Sans grabbed the sleeve of her lab coat before teleporting them both outside of The Core with all the Monsters that made it out as they watched parts of the core collapse. Alphys looked down as tears flowed from her eyes, Sans just looked at The Core his pupils disappearing as he stared at the building where he left his father.
Gaster POV
I sighed in relief after seeing them teleport away. That brief feeling of relief quickly vanished as a piece of the ceiling fell and crashed into the walkway I was hanging from. I prayed that it would hold but the screeching of metal as the walkway was torn from the ledges they were connected to made me realize it was pointless.
With a sigh of acceptance I closed my eyes as I fell with the walkway into to endless darkness of the VOID. The endless falling was starting to drive me crazy before I felt something that forced me to opened my eyes. An unimaginable pain tore through my very being and let out a horrified scream as I saw parts of my body turn to dust. My arms and legs turned to dust as the VOID seemed to bleed into the sections of my body that were missing. I could only look on in horror as the VOID started to pierce my body and slither inside. I’d be fascinated if it wasn’t so painful and horrifying. As the VOID continued invade my body I felt something change inside me as I started to accept the what was happening.
As I feel I realized that I was no longer falling but that I floating no it more life drifting in the VOID. As I drifted I heard whispers that sounded like familiar almost as if I’ve heard them my entire life. I couldn’t stand it after a few moments the endless whispering grated on my nerves but one phrase kept echoing louder than the whispering. “Dark Darker yet Darker.” It seemed to hold some meaning that i couldn’t understand, my seemingly endless drifting was interrupted by a blindingly bright light that seemed to call out to me. I moved closer to it hoping to find someway out of the VOID. “Well, well, well. Looks like another Gaster drifted from their reality into mine again.” Gaster looked up and saw what looked like another version of himself that had a frown on their face and was looking over him critically. “You probably have a few question well ask away.”  I could only stare at him numbly, while my thoughts were a jumbled mess the only constant thought i could make out being.

Hey there, I heard you have an AU idea but cannot draw it? I have two suggestions. You may want to turn it into a written story, as I did with mine. Unfortunately, this doesn't usually get much attention. I can recommend to you some pure-written fanfic websites though. You could also try drawing anyways-- the only way to improve at drawing is practice, as I have heard often. Good luck with your AU!
Thank you for the advice I'm gonna try to draw out some of the characters but I think I'm still gonna publish my AU as a written story then turn it into a comic if I can either find someone to draw it for me or get good enough to draw it myself

Manipulation Tale basic info
In this AU When Gaster fell into the Core he ended up getting his soul corrupted and driven mad by the void and figured out how to control it turning the void into an extension of himself.
He travels to different AU’s in order to kill the Gaster of that reality and absorb him in order to allow him to Absorb that reality into the void. This usually leads to him coming into conflict with Flowey, Frisk and, Chara forcing to destroy their souls and absorb a small portion of their determination.
Flowey in this AU is a Venus Flytrap instead of a Golden Flower since his Dust didn’t fall on a Golden Flower
Chara’s soul is kept in a cage that Gaster keeps in the void guarded by creatures he makes from the Void since Chara’s soul was strong enough to fight off being absorbed by Gaster and to fight off being Destroyed
Gaster can manipulate timelines and change how events played out but can only do it after a lengthy preparation  Frisk brings Flowey with them after saving him from one of Gaster’s void monsters named Erebus. Erebus follows them throughout their adventure and convinces Boss and Sub-Boss monsters to fight Frisk
Gaster’s body has the heads of other Gasters making up patches of his body along swirling pockets of void energy. He has a Gaster Blaster on each of his shoulders that usually make facial expressions for him since he can’t make any. Half of his head is from another Gaster making his face look like half of a comedy mask and half of a tragedy mask were put together

I panted as I ran as fast as my legs would go. The rapid sound of crunching leaves behind me let me know that I was still being chased. I pushed myself to keep going ignoring the gash on my side hoping that i’d find somewhere to hide and catch my breathe while i planed my next move.
“Come out, come out wherever you are!” My blood ran cold as I heard the voice of my pursuer so close behind me. “You know you can’t get away!” I saw a clearing up ahead with a cave nestled in the farthest corner out of sight behind a couple trees. Despite the pain i was in and my legs feeling like they were on fire I pushed myself to just make it to the cave. Just to get some form of shelter to hide in.
