…I think I’m feeling well enough to try and make the trek up to visit Salma today. Might need to bring some more crows with me than usual to make sure nothing happens… should I make myself a shepherd’s crook for next time? Maybe it’ll make it easier to travel…

I've got a few!!

- Spade wears a bandana/mask over the lower part of his face because of an incident that ripped his jaw out of place! And despite being of the Stranger, he hasn't been able to reset it to "normal." [i have art of this but its of his old pallet and I need to recolour it]

- He actually got a full re-colour when I made him this account, mainly because I realized I didn't really like his old colour-pallet

- The spade on his mask is actually embroidered, and is on each of his masks, to mimic an actual marking on it's face!

✒️ - What inspired you to create your muse/What inspired you to make a blog for your muse?

Honestly I don't think there's a specific reason I made him past wanting to make a Stranger oc, and I have an affinity for card suits/card decks in general! Spade is the first of six [including him] stranger ocs!

As for making this blog, I actually wasn't planning to make him one. I was just a little silly when I made my tumblr and I didn't really know how it worked! This page was supposed to be for a different fandom and once I realized that it was technically my main I just decided to make it into a character blog pfhf

I don't gave a dedicated Robbie playlist, but I do have a couple songs that remind me of him :]

Once in a Lifetime by Talking Heads and Man of War by Radiohead come to mind, also Drinking by Bôa.

A lot of Hoziers discography too but primarily Self-Titled.

💬 - How many languages does your muse speak?

Like most irish people, Robbie only really speaks english but was taught gaeilge in school and remembers a sparse couple phrases (Dia duit, Slán, Conas atá tú, etc.)

He was fairly good at it in school but no one in his family spoke it and when he moved to London his grasp of it started to fade. He tried speaking in it to Melanie once, thinking she was also irish, but she just looked at him like he'd grown a second head.

🎉 - When is your muse's birthday/What's your headcanon date of muse's birthday?

Febuary 16th! He was born in 1990, making him 26 when he came to the institute.

I chose it on random, but it happens to be the day that season 2 culminates, with the NotThem being found out, Michael kidnapping Tim and Martin, Leitner meeting the pipe. In all the hubbub I thought it'd be rather fitting of a lonely-marked man to have his birthday forgotten and instead marked by tragedy.

✒️ - What inspired you to create your muse/What inspired you to make a blog for your muse?

Robbie started as a kind of self-insert (and still is in a way) and I mainly made him because I wanted an irish person in tma (outside of a SINGLE unnamed statement giver, really guys, we're like a ferry ride away give us a slaughter statement or something)

THEN I started the robbie-meets fic and I had a lot of fun writing him meeting all of these avatars and his complete ineptitude kind of helping him in a way. I wrote and talked and drew him so much my irl friends thought he was actually in the show (because none of them have listen to it (YET))

I started this blog in particular bc I felt bad for kinda abandoning my old tma rp blog (rping a mute character was kind of hard and Robbie is MUCH funnier + easier to write)

Lemme phrase it like this: each crow can pick up around 800g-2kg depending on their size. I could (theoretically) get them to pick you up and carry you out.

🧣- A fun fact about your muse's design:

I can give you a couple!

1) Basra’s (in dnd) design was originally based off of crows, with a cape of crow feathers, bladed (but silent) boots and a perpetually angry/upset look to them :) but when I was actually rendering the piece, I realized that their features seemed more like a magpie-

2) they way that Basra’s clothing is described in RP is based off the armor she wears in DnD, so the occasional full plate armor or cowboy hat is purely because I thought it’d be funny to have that reflected in how I RP

3) Basra has a lot of scars all over their body from crows being a lil too exited to say hi and accidentally cutting into their skin with their talons. These are generally centralized around their shoulders, arms and hands. The nerve damage in their hands impairs their ability to feel/makes their hands tingly, but they’re still able to have more or less full motor control; and is caused by a few too many botched landings

4) Basra’s cape of feathers is a very sentimental item for them. It was initially made with a feather or two from every crow in their flock woven together for Salma so that she would feel more comfortable without her sealskin. Once she got the sealskin back, the cape became a reminder to Basra that they’re not alone, both through their flock and through Salma :)

🏳️- What's their nationality?/Headcanon about their nationality

While I had to keep their nationality vague within the original universe, Basra was always meant to be of middle eastern (or equivalent) descent! While a large part of their identity (including their name) is fabricated, they did genuinely spend a long time in Turkey (as it was where the “church” was located), before in some way traveling to the UK.

As for their passports, they hold two passports (one of an EU country and one Turkish (due to them living there for a while))

🖋️- What inspired you to create your muse/What inspired you to make a blog for your muse?

Basra’s creation was almost purely accidental! I was told I had to make a character for the first session of my DnD campaign the day of, so I used some previous ideas of a rouge that… just grew up on a farm and had to get good at not alerting people when they came or went to get a better understanding of the world. And as I RP’d, I brainstormed with my DM, which slowly but surely resulted in the current characterization that Basra has :) ((fun fact: in the original version, they didn’t even have crows-))

As for the creation of the blog, it was actually a number of things! I’ve known for a while that RP is one of the aspects of DND that I find most interesting, and found myself thinking about other potential RP opportunities I could raise for myself. I then found @gerry-the-archivist’s blog, which inspired me to actually start a tma RP account because I realized that Basra as a character is really eye coded- also I was just bored and starved for interaction :)

Honestly the biggest inspiration for the crows was actually that one Reddit post where it was like “yeah so I taught the crows the value of money and now they pay me to get them Taco Bell” and the “everything is going to shit in finals week but the local crow murder has accepted me as its own so at least I have that going for me”, as well as the frankly insane amount of crow studies that are made and the general concept of crow divination (yes it’s a thing and it’s fucking insane /pos)

Also! I managed to bully my DM into adding Selkies into our post-apocalyptic campaign by making it backstory relevant to Basra (their name is Salma and they have a complicated QPR-type relationship, although it’s not cemented which is why I’m technically open to Romantic RP)

🎧- Tell us a song that reminds you of your muse

I have multiple (see: entirely too many)- but some of the more notable ones include:

Basra, by most definitions if the term, can be considered to be Brown- I was struggling to come up with their name so I went with what sounded best initially due to the time constraints I had, because I’d assumed that I’d be able to change it later in the RP. Their name roughly translates to “the overwatch” in Arabic, as well as meaning “to come together” and “dry land” depending on the language you speak. Which is one hell of a coincidence seeing as I wasn’t aware of the name meaning until very recently-

“…love you just shared some of the juiciest gossip I’ve gotten in the past month- friend group disputes suck absolute bollocks tho, I can see why they separated but… blinking out of existence is interesting… if not a terrifying notion… I get the painful creativity but you do need to be aware of the point where it goes from curiosity to active danger… I’ve crossed that line a few too many times. 3/10 would not recommend.
