(Opolopo Kick Bass Rerub) Nothing new by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm including it here as I heard this at least 3 times during WMC from Marques Wyatt @ Afternoon Delight to Julius "The Mad" Thinker @ Funkbox NYC. Shows that 3 years after the rerub exploded at WMC 2013, it still holds on.

2. Artist: The Deep and Fredmelosax Title: Dom Dom Jump In 2005 DJ Deep rerubbed a Basenotic track adding some splendid sax improvisations. You may recognize the hook from Danny Tenaglia's GU Athens compilation, as Dom Dom Jump was featured. Marques Wyatt shared this version at Afternoon Delight.

3. Artist: Doc Link Title: CEO New release from Mr. Doc Link from the Business Never Personal EP. A jackin house nod to James Brown's "The Boss." Doc Link unloaded this on the Garage Residents "Immerse" party at the Chesterfield.

4. Artist: Random Soul featuring Kyla Sexton Title: Are We Sydney's Random Soul (Yogi & Husky) released their debut album "Live For The Moment" and the charts are on fire. Are We featuring Kyla Sexton made it to #1 download on Stompy soulful chart, and several of RS's recent releases are climbing from Traxxsource to Beatport. I'll always plug these guys not only for their great music, but because they are truly down to earth, love what they do, and do it for the right reasons.

5. Artist: Get Down Edits, Fingerman and Deadly Sins Title: Get Down Edits - Vol 4 Straight fun from the purveyors of party music Daz & Martin from Ireland. Available on vinyl (yes those ancient 12" round discs that you can't manipulate without a turntable).

6. Artist: The Groovers Title: Make Me Feel New groover (no pun intended) from Razor-n-Tape. I was super pissed that I missed RNT's Do Ya Wanna Boogie? party, but I was able to DL part of the set. Gotta love the interwebs.

7. Artist: DJ Mes & Sonny Fodera Title: No Jet Lag A simple and fun track from DJ Mes & Sonny Fodera. Miguel Migs dropped this at the Salted party and the crowd went a bit bananas.

8. Artist: Lisa Shaw Title: Always (Lovetronic Vocal) "Right here in my head, you float around and back again" My ears were introduced to the grace of Lisa Shaw back in 2002 through this song and I've been hooked on her ever since. Simply my favorite vocalist. Lisa Shaw @ the Salted party with Miguel Migs was simply amazing.

9. Artist: Black Coffee feat. Hugh Masakela Title: We are One Didn't get a chance to check out Black Coffee @ Vagabond and I'm disappointed at that. Just picked up this beautiful track with a great message from 2011.

10. Artist: Joeski Title: Hustle's Revenge (Mendo remix) Two of my favorite elements incorporated into a track: groovy percussion, complemented by a moving saxophone solo. I like the sneaky Paul Johnson-ish bassline.

California @djikon808 | Facebook @bassicksound | Facebook There's no other way to usher in my 1st Bassick Soundsystem DJ chart of 2013 than paying respects to a DJ/Producer/Artist/Remixer that has been a significant inspiration of mine over the last decade. DJ Fixx [Florida] has been on the forefront of America's breakbeat culture with releases on numerous respected USA & UK record labels, nominations @ Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards, and consistently charting on Beatport Breaks Top Chart [recently holding over 10 positions at once]. DJ Fixx is his name, Funky Jackin Booty Breaks is his game. No breaks DJ's collection should be Fixx-less. With Fixx having hundreds of releases on Beatport, my April 2013 chart showcases selections from the batch of tracks he's released since the beginning of the year. P-Funk Horns  Title: I Can't Seem Label: Basement Boys Genre: House/Funk Produced by the man himself, Teddy Douglas. He enlists some of his famous friends like Parliament Funkadelic P-funk horn section -Benny Cowan, Greg Thomas and Greg Boyer; Basement Boys band members Wayne Cooper, Neal Conway, Irvin Madden and Victor Williams for this gem.

2. Artist: Secret Stealth  Title: Stealth 3  Label: Bocajito Genre: Deep House/Funk Secret stealth are Jim Baron (Crazy Penis) and Bob Sadler (Fug), both well known for their work on Nuphonic, Paper Recordings, Tummy Touch, Session Recordings and Guidance amongst others. Stealth 3 was previously released on Bear Records.

3. Artist: Pablo Fierro  Title: Mother Earth (Original Mix)  Label: Centric Music Genre: Afrobeat Unreleased on Centric Music. DJ Fudge, Spellband and Dazzle Drums remixes are available March 13th. 4. Artist: Mustafa   Title: Vai Rolar o Som (Afro Remix Instrumental)   Label: Staff Productions Genre: Afrobeat Instrumental remix of Vai Rolar o Som, originally release on Mustafa's album "Ipanema Stories" Groovy, rhythmic vibe laced with soft horns and reverbed shakers, the instrumental version hits deep even without the vocals.

5. Artist: Gary's Gang  Title: Let's Lovedance Tonight (Danny Krivit Edit)  Label: Sam Records Genre: Disco Edit   Most house heads don't know that LONG before Soulsearcher, it was Gary's Gang who introduced the dance floor to this infectious melody. Danny Krivit jams it nicely with this clean edit and some added flava.

6. Artist: RK Edits   Title: Coming To You Live Label: Bulletproofsonics Genre: Disco Edit Proper edit of Charles Earland's 1980 cut "Coming To You Live" on Columbia Records. The original is a gem in itself, but the edit adds some width and percussion.

7. Artist: Eddy Grant Title: Timewarp (Louie Vega Remix) Label: Unknown Genre: Disco Edit Louie Vega's remix of this Paradise Garage classic absolutely KILLS!!! Nuff said.

8. Artist: Oliver $ Title: Doin' ya thang Label: Play It Down Genre: House A favorite of the Garage crew, this track doesn't get old to me. And neither does Moodyman's emcee skills.

9. Artist: MonkeyRobot Title: Northern Light Label: Bastard Jazz Genre: Funk This shit is so good, I spammed it on my Facebook twice in 3 days, and you are damn right I am gonna chart it.

Familiar hook and vocals, and an overall fun track. 2. Artist: Captain Planet   Title: Ningane (Whiskey Barons Remix Label: Bastard Jazz Genre: Afro Funk Great peak time track with afro rhythms and vocals. Whiskey Barons does it right on the remix. The chugging percussion with haunting vocals are a floor killer.

3. Artist: Glenn Underground Title: For the Love of Money Label: Strictly Jaz Unit Muzic  Genre: Deep House I love Glenn Underground. This track makes me feel like I'm drinking whiskey out of a bag in the freezing winter of west philly in 1972. 4. Artist: Stevie  Title: Super Stich On (Texas Toni Needle and Thread Instrumental Edit) Label: Killer Funk Genre: Disco Edit Nice instrumental edit of Stevie Wonder "Superstition" teases the vocals throughout but keeps the original groove of the track with some added beef. 5. Artist: Deep & Disco Title: Feel The Rhythm Label: Razor-n-Tape Genre: Disco Edit Brooklyn never disappoints. This edit of Chic's "Strike up the Band" is brilliantly reworked.

6. Artist: Dan Electro Title: Let Them Come (Greg Gauthier's Dance Culture Remix) Label: Soul Lab Genre: House A simple track that delivers a powerful message...AMEN!!!

7. Artist: Black Sabbath Title: Planet Caravan (DJ Steef Edit) Genre: Downtempo Absolutely brilliant downtempo edit of Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan". This was definitely one of my more pleasant finds in the last few months.

8. Artist: John Davis & The Monster Orchestra Title: Up Jumped The Devil (6th Borough Project Remix) Label: Nurvous Records Genre: Disco Edit 6th Borough delivers on this edit of a 1977 disco/funk classic.

9. Artist: The Gaff Title: Funny Saga Label: Katakana Edits Genre: Disco Edit I love this beefy rework of a rare track originally released on 7inch by French funk band The Monstars. 10. Artist: Eazy E Title: Eazy Duz It Label: Ruthless Records Genre: Ghetto Steez No party platter would be complete without an Eazy record stashed away for those super spontaneous moments.
