It’s mid-November, so it's time to start up the next Batjokes Secret Santa!
Here's how it works:
Sign up by filling out the Google form linked below, indicating what kind of batjokes fic or art you’re willing to create and what you’d like to receive.
Once sign-ups are closed, I’ll assign people to each other using their responses. About a week later, you’ll receive an email with information about your giftee. (Your giftee will NOT be the person creating a gift for you.)
Everyone works on their gifts in secret until December 24-26, when people post their gifts and reveal themselves.
I want to stress that you should only sign up if you’re sure you can create a gift in the time allotted. Guardrails to avoid last-minute dropouts, guidelines for the gifts, and other rules are noted in the Google form:
~ Batjokes Secret Santa Survey ~
Sign-ups close on November 19. Assignments will go out on November 25.
This is open to all batjokes fandom; feel free to not just reblog but share the link on your Twitter, IG, etc. (Tumblr is the only social media I have, so it would help spread the word.)
@spookycat83 Honestly, overanalyzing Joker's crazy stuff sounds like me XD I agree that this is something that Joker would do w/o giving it much thought. But I think it's not an impossible interpretation given that his dream speaks silently to himself (like Bruce Wayne dinner scene). I would like to point out that people's dream always contains metaphorical meanings behind what-seems-like-a-subtle details: for this instance, Batman in the closet (Joke started to acknowledge that Batman is alive after his corpse got "out".)
I can't get over the fact Rosenberg technically made Joker say: I need Batman. The way he dressed Bruce in KJ Joker's outfit and address Joker's dependency on Batman, the way Joker kept dead Batman in the closet in his home (metaphor for missing the Batman in his heart), and the fact that Joker roamed in Gotham delivering justice to fill the gap of Batman's role was?!?!? Besides all that, silly batjokes moments throughout the comics made the cherry on top.
Matthew Rosenberg's love for Joker was shown by his deep understanding of Joker's character and his primal needs, which is very rare from the comic writers today. I recommend reading his other works if you liked his Joker's interpretation! Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox is just him goofing around and the story is hilarious accompanied by a lot of cameos of under-appreciated villains. His other work called House of Gotham is told from the 3rd POV who believes is a victim of Joker/Batman's collaboration, and you can see Bruce's attempt to rationalize, uh saving the clown who is not planning on stop causing lots of agony and mayhem across Gotham. What I love about these both works is that they both hint that Joker and Batman are somewhat the same person! (you'll get it when you read it).
Anyway Knight Terrors: The Joker had a fantastic character study and I had to let that out somewhere (here).
@katekanemybeloved Gosh what a coincidence! You can say that you're meant to ship them : )
Just letting people know that batjokes day is on August 14th.
It's an unofficial day set by Japanese fans because batjokes looks similar to 8/14 in their language. I'm also planning to participate in the event so feel free do the same and tag #batjokesday or #バトジョの日 on August 14th. (pls 🥹)

edit: from seeing lots of fan edits with this as a template I am not sure anymore. I think Batman was marrying a blonde woman? XD Sorry for the confusion!
