I'm honestly really heartened that people are still finding this useful. While not as 'viral' as some of the posts on my other account, each person adding tags to say they really found this useful means a lot.

With the news that Meta pirated vast quantities of works for their 'AI', I feel like this is relevant again. If you don't think what Meta did is OK (it's not!), you should stand with cover artists and refuse to use 'AI' to generate your cover.

The best thing to do would be to hire a professional, but we can't all afford that - especially if the cover is for an ebook short story and not a novel. I hope that my little guide will help a few more people to make their own, rather than participating in theft.

Too many writers are using generative 'AI' to make their book covers, so I've written a guide on how to make your own cover for free or cheap without turning to a machine.

If you can't afford to pay an artist, you CAN make your own!
