For years, I’ve searched high and low for this coloring book that contains 120 pages of Bob McKimson artwork. Being that it’s 70+ years old, the paper’s very fragile. Scanning each page might be challenging, but I’ll figure something out.

I’m honored to have been involved in this film’s restoration, from its only surviving color element.

Brilliant.
Perhaps the most effort I’ve ever put into the stupidest punchline, but this drawing is so good that I had to do something with it. Go see The Day the Earth Blew Up!! If we’re lucky, this’ll be the next Snow White remake!

We’re kicking off 365 Days of Tunes with Frank Tashlin’s PORKY PIG’S FEAT (’43). Tashlin staged his Warners cartoons like live-action features, giving them a more “cinematic” quality, so take note of the layouts/camera angles. (1/365)

Hello folks! This month’s post is a bit different from usual, as today I’d like to announce "The Animation Smears Book: Uncovering Film's Most Elusive Technique" that I have been producing with Routledge for over a year. It is the first document of it's kind dedicated to preserving the art of abstract motion blur frames. It is essential for any artist and if you ever wanted to know more about animation smear history.
This book was the result of over twelve years of work with dozens of images to help illustrate the research, so I would like to thank everyone here for the continued support as this wouldn't be possible without your help!

So, I've seen trailers/teasers about:
- a live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon
- a live-action remake of Lilo and Stitch
- a live-action remake of Disney's Snow White
It reminds me of something a businessman in the film world once said on a train ride back home roughly ten years ago: "Hollywood doesn't play to win—they play not to lose." My answer now is: I better fetch me some Zantac because every trailer and breaking news I see of these "remakes" is fiery acid reflux incarnate.
