something that kinda gets me is like. the idea that if gabriel somehow came to his senses and “moved on” with nathalie…. she ain’t moving on. to me, that’s some dark fic where she’s forced to try and be happy with this world without emilie. the best she can get is to stay here with gabriel and not let resentment and guilt eat her alive. she’d never stop thinking about plans. that’s waiting out the clock to me, for her. she would always be a surrogate mother, and that too would sicken her. if people put that label on her as a single woman adamantly rejecting the title, it would only get worse with a ring on her finger and being seen as family.
