There were occasions when Gar indeed get a little too excited. There were moments where a human body really just didn’t offer the enthusiasm he wanted to convey. And some moments, like the moment he opens his door and sees his best friend on the planet and off with pizza, make him lose all his cool. It was gone. Out the window, just like a garbled “HUH” of surprise slides out of his mouth. The next moment, a green squirrel monkey is launching itself at the guest while it shouts, “VIC HOLY CRAP DUDE!”
Though he’s of course mindful of the pizza (he’s not a monster) hugs are definitely in order. The monkey clings on a moment before, remembering himself, he jumps off and lands once again as his human self, walking back into his apartment and holding the door for the other, all the while questions pouring from his mouth, “You didn’t tell me you were showing up! Consider me surprised. You got me, totally. What kinda pizza? Anyone else know you’re here? And what’re you ready to be absolutely destroyed playing??” his grin is undeniable, and literally anything that Gar had been worried about seemed to, for now, disappear with the arrival of Vic.

One of the things Vic missed most about the Titans was the camaraderie. The team atmosphere was so…unique. And he wouldn’t have changed it for the world. When the team disbanded, they all went their separate ways. He tried to keep in touch with the others when he could, but they all had lives. And the team breaking up had been…hard.
It had been a while since he’d gotten to see Gar, way too long, and so when Vic moved to the city one of his first goals was to say hey to his old friend. That, and whoop his green butt at smash bros. They were important things.
It didn’t take Vic a lot of work to track down where Gar was staying, and he showed up one day with a few pizzas in one hand and his switch case in another, big grin on his face.
“Gar!” He said with a big smile. “It’s been way too long, man. Whadya say we bust open these pizzas and you show me if you’re still as bad at video games as you were all those years ago?”

Chou nodded slightly, “I have never been afraid of chaos though. In it come some of our greatest triumphs. It is not there to be feared, but embraced so that we might overcome it and be stronger for the challenge.” The earth around them had such tenacity, even if it was not beginning to loose after centuries of abject abuse. “I hope to serve that function, and perhaps make people think a little more than they did before.” An third aid quickly walked up, nodding softly before speaking to Chou in Japanese, asking about his speech next week. Chou politely answered and sent the now smiling man on his way, “My apologies, I know it is somewhat rude to speak a language around a person who may not understand, but Yiyang is still learning English and he was in a slight hurry.” Chou explained.
“My, you sound very well educated on the phenomena. I would like to know more if you would perhaps walk with me? I am quite parched after speaking for so long and would like to get a tea.” he said, voice still gentle as he took slow steps towards the door, seeing if Gar was able to follow. He chuckled lightly as Gar spread his arms, “All? That must take all of your time, but what a life to able to live.” He suspected it was quite the overstatement but if the man wanted to help animals he’d hardly quash the notion. They weren’t getting enough help as it was. “I cannot say I’ve spent much time more wild animals.” he lied, “It may seem somewhat boring to a man like you, but I’ve enamoured with butterflies myself.” he smiled gently. “They are beautiful, and mysterious.”
Gar blinked at the other’s comment about chaos, struck a moment. Surely he’d been raised in chaos, thrived in chaos as a Titan, and arguably some more in Hollywood, which was a different kind of chaotic. Still, he tilts his head with a truly intrigued smile. “I like that. I know a few people who would be real impressed with the off-the-cuff inspirational talk, you know.” He really doesn’t mind as the other speaks a different language, smiling as he looks around at the crowd once more. “Oh, that’s fine... I think you might be one of the most courteous people I ever met.”
His brows shot up and Gar can’t help but chuckle a bit. “Yeah! Tea sounds great. Uh... I’m a unique expert. I have a certain kind of... bond with animals,” he confirms, mischief in his eyes. Even if the moment of no recognition is nice, he’s sorta given himself away now. He may as well be honest, “I’m not sure if you’ve ever heard of Beast Boy, from the Teen Titans, but uh,” he shrugs, always kinda hating this part of things. He found it awkward when they’d gotten to talking without being recognized, but it certainly explained, “I have powers that allow me to turn into animals. Any animal, I just need a picture, even one in my mind, but those are a bit harder,” he glances as they walk together, aware that with certain people, that admission could end everything, “Gives me a real unique connection with them. But butterflies? They’re really cool, I’d say very underappreciated in general.”

Something smelled wrong, that’s the best way he could put it. This much metal shouldn’t be on the air. He’d noticed it as a dog at first, but the hound nose simply wasn’t cutting it. So, once he was sure he wasn’t around people, he shifted into a small black bear (with the obvious green coloring) on the beach, knowing they had the best nose for any job, really. And he’s almost certain he knows there’s something cloaked nearby, having dealt with his own share of secret ships. When he sees a green figure descend from no where, as if walking on a firm surface, it was all but confirmed. This was an alien, and its ship was camouflaged somewhere in front of him. Still, she doesn’t seem to think she’s in danger, so he goes with it.
The bear lets out a curious squawk, tilting its head to the side with a few more sniffs. He wanders a bit closer, purposefully looking a bit wide-eyed and cautious, but he was in full Beast Boy mode now. First and foremost, he had to determine if she was a threat to Star City. He lets himself amble closer, but stops a few feet away. He’s careful to make himself look mystified, and lets out a small huff, but doesn’t growl. He wants her to come a little closer, get fully off her ship before he does anything.
@bcastbxy
By and large, the area of beach where she’d kept the Kitsune cloaked for the months she’d been in Star City had stayed mostly abandoned. Once in awhile some stray person hunting shells or lost in thought would wander her way, but they wandered the other direction just as easily. The ship detected approaching lifeforms and she typically just watched until they’d gone on their way.
Then again, they usually were not bears. Green bears, even. She’d traversed a good portion of Terra by then and seen a great many of the animals the planet had to offer, but she was reasonably certain that bears were not green. It was enough to have her slipping out of the Kitsune before the creature was close enough to see her. The ship stayed in its state of camouflage behind her as she stepped down onto the sand.
She didn’t go far, only a few paces from where the ramp would be, and watched the bear with her head tilted curiously to the side. For the time being, and was in her natural form. Her skin was a few shades darker green than the fur sprouting off the bear, her ears long and pointed, and the tell-tale markings on her chin than all Skrulls possessed completed the picture.
As the creature drew closer, she called out, “I saw a cartoon once with a sea bear. I don’t think that’s what you are.”

He’d been half asleep when he heard the knock on his door. It startled him out of his dozing state and he had to blink once to assure himself that yes, something had definitely knocked on his door. “Justa sec,” he calls before yawning and stretching. Of course, he doesn’t leave it took long, opening the door with a curious smile, though it’s instantly replaced by a mix of pure joy and utter shock.
“RAE?!” he shouts and he can’t even hesitate when he wraps his around around her middle and lifts her up in a rather tight hug. He knew she wasn’t the biggest fan, but the way he could feel his chest swell with seeing her again made him unable to resist “Is this real?! Man if this is a dream, it can stay,” he laughs as he hugs her, moving back into his apartment with her in tow, not breaking as he rambled, “I’ve been thinking of coming to find you and drag you here. Everyone else was showing up and it didn’t feel right. I missed you,” he gives her one last squeeze as he sets her down again, a radiant grin on his face. Even with the... well, to be blunt, absolutely messy way he left things, she was still one of the most important people in his life. In fact, that messiness was why he didn’t go find her at his first thought, but the fact that she showed up at his door meant she wasn’t mad, that they’d figure it all out... right? “I even got your book... you can whack me with it if you want. I know I deserve it. But it was real good,” he runs a hand over the back of his head, apology clear on his face, but the joy at having her close again is still there, too. That’s not going away anytime soon.
Green. Laughter. Chuckling. Annoyances. Pizza. Tofu. All things that Raven missed during her time in Washington. Garfield Logan. Beast Boy. Memories she pushed away when she went to Washington, the few dates that the two of them had. The smiles they shared. Him getting her out of her comfort zone. But that soon all ended when he went to Hollywood. She tried to stay after, but soon Kori went back to Tamaran and Dick was caught up in his own things, Roy was god knows where, and the titans sort of fell apart. But somehow she still found her way back to Star City. And she nearly longed to see the green fella again.
Which is how she ended up tracking him down and showing up at his address. She hoped that it wasn’t too weird, especially since she was someone who didn’t do the mushy feelings and the whole happy ho reunions. But regardless she knocked on his door and wondered how has Gar’s life changed. And if she even still had a place in it.

One might say that Gar enjoyed attention. Sure, he could quite easily hole himself up and be left with just his thoughts. In fact he was quite good at that. So good, in fact, that he’d earned a whole Depression diagnosis! At least, that’s a fun way he’d tell it. But, at the end of the day, he was an actor, and bright green, so being subtle usually didn’t work. Gar also tended to insert joy into things wherever he could. It just so happened that this usually included being loud and pleasantly obnoxious and most definitely goofy. Garfield Logan was all of the above quite happily.
So, when he figured out that people, namely kids getting out of a boring day at school or camp or even home with nothing to do, enjoyed his shenanigans around District X, who was he to deny them? Who was he to deny the kid that begged him to turn into raptor ‘just for a second, mister!’ How could he say no when kids cheered at a monkey swinging around the trees in the park?
So, he didn’t say no.
He swings happily between the trees as a bright green gibbon monkey, laughing as he adds in a flip and a flare here and there. And, he has to say, the kids love the finger guns from a monkey. When he hears the loud call from below, he pauses, hangs from a branch, and tilts his head for a moment before his whole face lights up.
“DUDE!” the monkey shouts, and a couple younger kids laugh, but Gar is more than done as he swings down and wraps long furry monkey arms around his friend, “never stopped. I always got time. It’s awesome to see you!”
Star City was an expansive place and tracking down one person without knowing much about where they might be or what they might be doing was nearly impossible. Thankfully, when you’re searching for someone with a very specific set of skills - and social media stories about green animals start trending - it gives you a pretty good idea of where to start looking. It had been years since Garth had seen Garfield and he was more than ready to reunite. Out of all of the Titans, the shapeshifter had been one of his all-time favorites to be around. The kid had practically just radiated good energy all the time.
Garth hurried to the location tag mentioned in the social media blurbs, not worrying about the fact he hadn’t replenished himself recently. He was going to meet a friend - not stop an armed robbery. Powers or no powers, he wasn’t concerned. What mattered to him was getting there before Garfield decided to grow bored and move somewhere else. Thankfully, Garth hadn’t been too terribly far away when the trends starting blowing up.
Arriving just in time to see a fuzzy green monkey flipping through a couple of trees while children, teens, and adults alike looked on in amusement; Garth took a moment to greet a couple of bystanders that actually recognized him. Giving in to a request for a selfie, he waved off their thanks and moved towards the trees.
“Still out ‘monkeying’ around these days? I hope you have time for an old friend.” He called out with a grin plastered on his face.

The claws are gone from her hands, skin healing over which doesn’t leave a mark except for the drop of blood on her shirt. Her eyebrows knit together as this mysterious other wolverine is transforming into something else’s … which appears to be a man. Something about this seems to make more sense, but clicks her tongue because there was no way anyone would be taking Jonathan away from her. Perhaps this was all a misunderstanding, but the wolverine is rather spoiled by everyone that meets him.
It seems that whoever this man is was clearly worried about the animal. Gabby takes him on walks every day so someone is bound to talk, especially if she took him outside of District X. Which she does when Daken has to watch him for a night or two. “I would never hurt him. We’re extremely protective over each other. Jonathan was rescued from a lab where they were doing experiments on him and his family.” They couldn’t save the rest of them, which always breaks her heart, but Gabby made sure that the organization paid for what they had done. Jonathan deserves justice for what happened to his family. “Gave me family again. Would die for her.” The wolverine chimes in with as he looks between the two of them.
The teenager relaxes her shoulders and realizes that the stranger isn’t a threat so a smile appears on her face finally, and gestures to the couch if he wants to sit down. She does though and Jonathan jumps up into her lap. “It’s nice to meet you, Gar. I’m Gabrielle, but please call me Gabby.” She offers a hand to shake while the other one is scratching behind the animal’s ears. “I know it’s a strange situation to everyone else, but we instantly liked each other from the first moment we met. I really do love him. Is this something you do often?”
"Well, I'm really glad that you're not going to hurt him," he can't lie about that certainly. He relaxes just a little when the girl doesn't seem like she's going to attack or anything. Even if this had gone terribly, he was glad he wasn't about to have to fight his way out. His face falls a little as he thinks about the horrors of being tested on. "....I hate those kinds of people," he sighs heavily, but smiles at the wolverine as he gets his head scratched. "Glad you're out of there, little buddy."
He sits down in the couch next to her, shaking her hand as his smile breaks into a grin. He can't help it, how often did someone get to see a wolverine like this? "Nice to meet you Gabby. I'm not one to judge weird, as long as it's a good weird. I mean...." he gestures to himself there, "this has turned into a good weird, I'd say. But no, I don't normally do this. I mean, I took on a really annoying circus once, but it's not a regular thing. Only when I see something that looks bad or weird. To be fair, you were more in the weird category since he was so calm... you two are really cool, for the record," he chuckles, "Now that I know he's happy. Definitely super cool."

Three in the morning while Gabby is asleep sprawled out in her bed. Her legs spread out over the blankets and her phone held in one of her hands. She usually slept positioned to take up the whole mattress. Her wolverine even has his own bed next to hers so they would be close even while asleep. Sometimes Gabby is asleep while Jonathan is sitting there guarding her for some of the night. However, her eyes slowly open when an unknown scent is filling the apartment. Who is in the apartment? She leaves her phone on the bed while sitting up. There’s a hand rubbing at tired eyes while sitting up.
Gabby notices that her pet wolverine isn’t anywhere to be found, but assumes that maybe he went to get a sip of water. She slips her bunny slippers on and steps out of her bedroom. One of her claws slipping out between the knuckles of her left hand — a drop of blood falling onto her shirt from where her skin was torn. The teenager slowly moves through the apartment following the scent and moving as silently as possible.
She pokes her head around the corner and doesn’t see anyone, but there’s a crate and a green wolverine talking to Jonathan. Her eyebrows knit together in confusion while observing for a moment.
Jonathan looks at the other wolverine, tilting his head at the question. “Want to stay. Family here. Saved me from a lab.”
The girl makes herself known now, stepping into the living room and approaching the two wolverines. “What’s going on? How did you get in our apartment?” She asks while looking at the unknown animal, but the claw is moving back into her hand.
Some things, Gar knew by instinct. That’s what happened with his powers. He knew where birds flew to migrate off the top of his head, knew which berries bears enjoyed the most, silly things like that. Some of it was useful, some of it was just...instinct. And it’s knowing a wolverine’s instinct that has him so baffled here. These are creatures that would tear off an arm if they wanted, with growls that could send chills down a spine... but here was this wolverine saying he wants to stay. and the weirdest part is that Gar can’t see an ounce of the animal that even contemplated freedom. That was significant. In fact, he’s so enthralled that he straight up missed the girl he knew owned the wolverine waking up.
He’s careful to keep his shape at first, looking at her nervously but keeping any human words silent. Of course, the giant cage looked suspicious. And the fact that he got through a window. Wolverines were cool, but not that talented. He chatters to the wolverine before he moves, “okay... I think I missed something here. I’m going to turn back into me. I’m not going to hurt anyone, okay?” because, even with the glint of the knife in the girl’s fists (where did he know that from??) he’s still more nervous about the actual literal wolverine.
As Gar shifts back into his human form, his hands are up in surrender, and he’s sitting to show he’s not about to jump up. He speaks as he goes, “You saved him from a lab? What’d they want?” his curiosity is quite clear, but he hurries to clarify, “I know this is weird, but I thought you were hurting him to get him to listen. I thought....” he looks back and forth between the two, “....Okay, hi, I’m Beast Boy, you can call me Gar. I think I got the situation here all wrong. I don’t want to hurt anyone, just... wanted to make sure the animal was okay.”

Seeing Kori was back on Earth was quite possibly some of the best news Gar could receive. It had been far too long since he’d seen her, and he wasn’t afraid to say with his whole chest: man did he miss his friend. He was unashamed in the way he was staring above peoples’ heads as he walked, looking for her where he could despite his own height. The moment he heard his name, he turned and he absolutely beamed.
“Kori!” Gar shouts and laughs as he’s picked up, completely unperturbed and honestly enjoying every moment, even if it did mean he was.... squished for a solid moment. It was totally worth it. Remembering they were in District X, he decides to say screw it and shift into a rather cuddly green chimp, which very easily latches itself around the other in a tight hug. “I missed you so much! How was space? I want to hear about everything. Is everything okay? Are you on Earth for long? Do you need somewhere to stay?” the questions pour out of the excited chimp and he’s hard-pressed to loosen his grip. It was definitely a more urgent hello to your friends when they’ve been on a whole other planet for years. With all of the downright wild things that had been happening since he arrived, he’s more than relieved to see her... not to mention, he’s just happy to see another face from the Titans. It may be his nostalgia, but nothing would make Gar happier than to have everyone in one place again.
Aliens and Beasts || Koriand’r and Gar
@bcastbxy
Gar had been one of the first people to see her Facebook Live video. She was still eternally grateful for her friend Drew Harrison, a wonderful human who had been willing to loan her his phone. She was simply glad that someone had been watching their page closely enough to see her. If they hadn’t, she wasn’t entire sure how she would have found any of them. Star City was so large and she had never been very good with Earth customs for finding people. If she still had her phone and it still worked, then perhaps that would have made things easier, but she had been on Tamaran for five whole Earth years. It made sense that the Outlaws had not kept her number turned on. She might not have ever returned.
The first thing Kori wanted to do was get some clothes. How had the clothing changed in the last five years? The thought made her giddy even as she made her way to meet Gar where he had indicated. She always earned stares as she walked down the street on Earth, and she always returned them with a bright smile of her own.
That smile grew, however, when she caught sight of a familiar shock of green hair. “Gar!” she cried, closing the gap between them. It had been so long since she had seen him. The Titans had disbanded almost… was it truly eight years ago? Nine, perhaps? She couldn’t remember. But she didn’t care. Her love for each one of them had lived in her heart, undimmable. “I have missed you!” she exclaimed as she wrapped strong arms around the small human and lifted him. Her heart swelled as she did so, remembering even his scent as she rested her forehead on his.

Chou smiled softly, playing into his more public persona with ease, “You are too kind, I do find myself able to ‘rivet’ people very often. But I am pleased you enjoyed my talk.” he nodded slightly, It is difficult to make the time to care for the world between the busyness of urban life. And I believe this city in particular is something of a chaotic place, though that was part of my reasoning for coming here.” Chou explained gently, nodding to a few of his aids as they passed with the equipment he’d used to give his presentation. He’d kept it simple, a stand with a card poster on it showing a picture of his forest home and a few others with statistics written on them. It would be counter productive using up resources for a flashy speech when he could do just as well alone.
“Garfield, a pleasure.” he bowed his head slightly and rose up to extend a hand to the other, “If we are to be informal, then please call me Chou.” When the other mentioned working with animals he smiled, tilting his head slightly, “That is very interesting. My charity’s efforts focus primarily on natural spaces, but often we have to try and restore animal habitats.” he chuckled softly, “I suppose that could be one of the similarities you speak of. Animals are so resilient but even they require some help to make their homes after all the work we’ve done uprooting them.” he sighed gently, “Do you work with a specific breed of animals at all, Gar?” Chou spoke the other’s name lightly, still smiling with his hands clasped loosely in front of him.
Gar tries his bets to remain charming as he lets out a wry chuckle, “Oh, you’ve got the chaotic part right,” he felt like he was only seeing the tip of things since he was still so new to arrive, “I’m glad you did come here, people need the reminder.” gar couldn’t help but notice the gentle way he interacted with the staff. In his time in Hollywood, he’d come across plenty of egos, he came to expect it with a certain kind of people in truth. He’s surprised that Chou doesn’t seem like that type, and truly, he’s glad. He’s more than happy to not deal with that type again.
Gar nods as he listens, smiling wider as the subject veers towards animals. He begins nodding with enthusiasm. “Every aspect of animals are deeply affected by their environments. There are some incredible variations that make some species unique to specific-- Alaska, for example, has some wild ones.” He can even be seen relaxing a little more as the subject veers into his territory, and the other seems to be enjoying the conversation. After all, he knew how to fake it, and usually could tell when others were faking it to fans, too. He was either real good, or genuine. “Oh, I work with them all,” he spreads his arms a moment, and he’s pleasantly surprised how he isn’t recognized. It surely didn’t happen all the time, but now was more satisfying that others by far, “No animal is too wild for me.”
