Surprisingly, it didn’t take much to convince Yuuri to come see Otabek play the first time. Maybe Yuuri wasn’t sure what it was that Otabek played, or maybe he simply trusted the Kazakh to keep him safe. Either way, it was nice not to have to take the train alone again. 

A slightly inebriated Yuuri walks up to the panel, and Beka keeps a mental note to replace his next drink with water. Otabek has only seen Yuuri truly gone with alcohol once, and as entertaining and a downright shocking transformation as it was, Otabek preferred not to have to carry Yuuri all the way home again. At his comment, Otabek crosses his arms with a smile. 

“Go ahead, experiment,” he says, nodding. “People are way too out right now to notice a something off. The main is on, just add something.” 

Of course, Otabek wasn’t going to risk his reputation with any of Yuuri’s blunders. He kinda had it set up for Yuuri, so anything he pressed would automatically play a beat Otabek had already recorded.

Otabek’s eyebrow delicately arches, but a small smile spreads across his lips. He barely heard the joke over the music and noise, so he made sure to speak loudly over the atmosphere. Removing his headphones and putting on a pre recorded mix to play, Otabek hands them over to Yuuri.

“Alright, then you can take over Mr. Altin?”  

Sometimes when they had Friday’s off, Yuuri and Otabek would take a train together up to Tokyo for the weekend- getting them out of the small town for a few days and giving Otabek the chance to DJ at a few clubs. He was really quite talented, and had taken to making sure to play a couple of Yuuri’s favorites once he had a few drinks in him and was inclined to dance.

Yuuri took the headphones before thinking about it- stepping forward. “There’s no way all of these buttons have a purpose… I might be in over my head.” Yuuri laughed, glancing back for help. It didn’t help that he was already pleasantly tipsy.

Otabek nods at the stranger, fighting back some initial embarrassment. He’s not used to asking for help in any way, shape, or form, but he’s been lost for half an hour now and he really needs to meet with this professor soon. 

“Ito Ishioka Lab,” he reads aloud from the note in his hand. “I have to meet with a professor there.” He pauses. “I think I’m already late.”
