I remember my last apartment had a rusty, probably-not-up-to-code gas heater in it that I had to unscrew the front panel on to light the pilot manually, and every single rust-encrusted screw on the panel stripped to a perfect circle by the second or third time. So every time after, I'd have to sit there and try to get a grip on them with pliers while I was actively freezing my ass off, then screw them back in with my fingers.

Flatheads wouldn't have done me like that.

A rich twink who struggles with the idea of being gay for freaky chimera men so hard he's easily manipulated into siding with a god of death/change so he can make his favorite boytoy into a human

One of the main characters becoming a god to protect the planet he helped save only to realize being a god is a massive pain in the ass

And so many more questionable plot points that are interesting in a vacuum!

Looking back through a bunch of my old writing from when I was like 16 and I'm equal parts ashamed and proud to realize that the first story I ever actually cared about writing was basically monster girl toxic yuri couched in a political drama about how body horror furries and monsters made of ink deserve human rights

What's even crazier is that I went on to recycle that setting and those characters to write what was essentially the plot of an SMT game before I knew that series existed. The main characters are swayed by multiple different gods (all of which are basically just cosmic office workers so they're all bound by tons of red tape) to be the avatar which reshapes the world in their image, and it ends with the ones that are still alive deciding that sapient life is best governing itself and telling all the gods to piss off with the help of the gods' coworker who doesn't give a shit because he's about to be fired anyway
