if any minors are following me
always make sure to start forging parents' signatures on the first day of class. that way, your teachers won't know that you've been forging signatures for the rest of the year

"What do you want from a remake" I DON'T WANT THEM. I DON'T WANT ANOTHER SOULLESS NOSTALGIA-FILLED CASH-GRAB. I DON'T WANT ANY OF THEM. I DON'T WANT ADAPTATIONS THAT KILL THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE OF THE THING THEY WERE BASED UPON NEITHER THE SHOT-BY-SHOT DESATURATED RECREATIONS. I WANT ORIGINAL STORIES!!! NOT REMAKES OF MOVIES THAT AIN'T EVEN 30 YEARS OLD!!!AAGGGGGHHH
#the original is RIGHT THERE#if you want to see more of it#you can watch it again!#ahhh!#the only goodish remake was Cinderella#because at least they did something DIFFERENT#They said “eh let’s do it again but like completely new.#I’d rather see that than Same but Worse

REMEMBER:
if you don't understand the post at a glance it's because op wrote it wrong and needs your help
if the post doesn't contain all the contextualising information you need to understand it, op is gaslighting you
if you haven't experienced the phenomenon the post describes, op is making it up for clout
if you haven't encountered the type of person the post describes, they're a strawman that doesn't exist
if the post doesn't address a topic you'd prefer to talk about, it's a distraction, missing the point, and talking over you
if the post makes a good point, it is your duty to contribute to human enlightenment by nitpicking it to be more correct
and most importantly:
every online conversation is a competition and you must win

Military service has been glorified since the conception of organized combat because it *has* to be in order to exist. If you want a bunch of dudes to fight for you, the easiest was to do it is to tell them it would make them legendary badasses because they’re “protecting their land” from the nebulous enemy.
Many young boys DID feel like they HAD to go, because they were told again and again that dying for their country was the only way to keep it safe, and everybody knew somebody who had already been “brave” enough to make that sacrifice so unless they wanna be weak little bitches they better strap up and answer the call too. And that still continues to this day. We romanticize the price of war so much that we start to feel like we’re dishonoring the people who already died if we don’t just keep killing.
In many (specifically marine) training camps, recruits are taught what’s known as “War Math”. Early on in classroom sessions, the instructor will say something along the lines of: “Say you have 4 enemy insurgents in a building, and you send a calculated missile strike that winds up killing 2 of them and wounding a few civilians. How many enemy insurgents do you have left?”
Obvious answer: 2. The real answer? Infinity.
By sending that missile and killing those men, you are turning their children against you. By wounding those civilians, you are turning them and their families against you. By destroying that building, you are turning everyone on that street against you.
Any marine will tell you that War Math is taught as a joke. Literally just meant to loosen up the new recruits and get them used to the idea that this nebulous war is never ending, followed by months of physical and mental torture and conditioning to get them used to the idea that it’s a good thing, and that any ideas they might have about the people they’re killing maybe being people is weakness that needs to be gotten rid of.
So no, they didn’t have to go, but they didn’t really know they had an option either. We can forgive them for that, we can thank them for trying their best to do what was right with the information they were given, and we can be better.
if i may be a little inflamatory. if you're still saying "my uncle/father/brother had to join the us military there was no other option" the most generous read on you is that you're a useful idiot unwittingly engaging in manufacturing consent for the next usamerican imperial blunder
