Treating Gaza’s Collective Trauma
After three hundred days of war, the unrwa issued an analysis describing Gaza’s trauma as “chronic and unrelenting”—a collective embodiment of continuous traumatic stress disorder (C.T.S.D.), a condition that stems from living under relentless trauma. Unlike post-traumatic stress disorder, which sets in after a difficult experience, C.T.S.D. is what occurs when there is no end in sight. Gazans have adapted to chronic danger, living in a state of hypervigilance, emotional numbness, and dissociation amid the slow erasure of any imagined future.
The effect on children has been especially catastrophic. By 2024, unicefestimated that almost all of Gaza’s 1.2 million children require urgent mental-health and psychosocial support. Not a single child has been untouched by the war. Many aren’t sleeping, or they wake screaming throughout the night, clinging to their companions in terror. A number of children have developed speech problems. Some reënact bombings with stones, play a game called “air strike,” or act out death.
[...] Alone, displaced, and traumatized, the children who are still alive are extremely psychologically vulnerable. Even before this most recent war, Gaza’s children were already showing signs of strain: a 2022 Save the Children survey found that eighty-four per cent felt fear and seventy-eight per cent lived with grief. In November, 2024, a report by the Community Training Center for Crisis Management found that ninety-six per cent of children living through this war feel that their death is imminent, and nearly half said that they want to die.

Please don't skip 🙏
My children are in danger🚨🚨
You can help them, do not hesitate 🙏😢
I am abed from Gaza, a dad of four children. I am living a war of genocide. My children and I live in fear and destruction.💔🇵🇸
We are living the worst days of our lives....
We left our home and were displaced more than five times in search of safety, but we never found it and we will never find it...
We lost our home, our work, our family, our security and our stability. We live in tents on the sidewalks without the necessities of life....
Every day I walk long distances to connect to the internet and I send some messages to friends to help me donate and spread...🚶🥹
I ask everyone who reads my words to have mercy on my children and donate to them so that we can leave Gaza when the crossing reopens.. I want to escape with them to safety and live like the rest of the children of the world...💔🙏
If you see my post now, don't ignore it and donate and share so that my children's voice reaches the whole world... We as a family suffer from internet connection and the power to share...
My children deserve better days and lives. I hope you can help us and thank you for your generosity, kindness and standing by us in this difficult
time.🙏️

Daily Update (68)
My children are collapsing from severe hunger. Their frail bodies can’t endure anymore, and their eyes search in vain for food or nutritional supplements.
Hamoud, my youngest son, faints from malnutrition, and with every fainting spell, a piece of his childhood is stolen.
(In my previous post, I shared his photo, but Tumblr hid it due to the distressing nature of the image.)
No food. No medicine. No supplements, Only deadly hunger and a disturbing global silence.
I withdraw donations daily just to buy bread, and nothing remains. Prices are unimaginably high.
I urgently need 5 packs of children's nutritional supplements each costing €20.
Your donation today is their only lifeline.🙏

Please Help my family 🙏
✅️Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #672 )✅️
I am Shams from Gaza, 17 years old, a girl from a family of 7. I was in my first year of high school before the war. I loved my family, my school, my friends, and life itself. But the war came and took everything I loved away.
The days have passed filled with loss and hunger. We no longer go to school—education has stopped, my school and home were bombed, and now my sister, her four daughters, and I all live in a single room.
We are struggling just to find a bite to eat, to have a roof that protects us from rain, rocket shrapnel, and the smell of gunpowder. Time passed, and I was supposed to take my final exams this year, but the war took away our right to education in every way.
We are facing the worst living conditions—insanely high prices for food, cleaning supplies, and medicine. We are displaced after losing our home. My father was injured while trying to find food; he suffers from a herniated disc in his back.
We are truly in need of help. Life here is almost impossible, and the conditions are extremely harsh. Please help me secure shelter, food, medical care, and at least a livable situation. A little from you can make a big difference.

Here is Gaza... Let's be honest and realistic. There is less talk about Gaza, and the issues there are no longer given enough attention. There are many massacres taking place in Gaza, but they are no longer being paid attention to. Here, death takes all its forms: burning, bombing, and starvation.

A heartbreaking scene of displaced people being burned alive, most of them women and children, as a result of the barbaric and unprecedented Israeli bombing.
Also, for *80 days*, not a single piece of bread has entered Gaza—it's a *war of famine and extermination*.
Think with me carefully. Gaza is going through the most difficult circumstances these days. You can't just look at words—do something. Donate, participate, help us with anything. No more silence. My family and I depend on your donations here so we can live in peace. (And remember, *the best thing you can do is help the oppressed in Gaza.)
Donate to us, even if it's just a little.
This is not an order, it's a request for help to survive.

Gaza is dying of hunger, Gaza is in pain, children are crying from hunger, mothers are searching for food, no water, no medicine, no food, only siege, hunger, and pain. Don't forget them in your prayers and support. #Gaza_is_dying_of_hunger #Save_Gaza
The bodies of children in Gaza have turned into skeletons from the severity of hunger, their bones protruding from under their thin skin, until they have lost the ability to stand or move. Hunger has broken their small bodies and robbed them of even the breath of life.

The children of Gaza... half-souls dying slowly, infants writhing with hunger, their thin bodies screaming soundlessly, no milk, no food, no medicine, not even a glimmer of hope, their little hearts dying silently, they have known nothing of life but oppression, and their bodies have turned into skeletons, as if life abandoned them before it even began.

I’ve been angry, frustrated, sad over the past 2 years because of Gaza. But now my anger is reaching levels similar to post-October 7 when all I would do is go online and read dehumanising tweets about Palestinians and how Palestinians are the real aggressors next to headlines stating that hundreds of Palestinians were killed in a single day. It feels eerily similar now, I go online and read tweets denying starvation in Gaza, calling it a form of “Jew-hating Hamas propaganda,” right next to headlines of hundreds dying of starvation in a single day. Israel’s defenders will always be demonic ghouls and you can’t convince me otherwise.

My name is Moataz, a journalist from Gaza.
My story!
Imarried Huda on June 22nd. I was very happy with her. I photograph humanitarian issues for the world. The war started and we were exposed to a deadly attack that we miraculously survived.

We became homeless, without food or drink. My wife was crying. I set up my tent for the first time after displacement on November 1st. We sought refuge with all the relief organizations, but no one helped me. We are now awaiting the birth of our first child after a long wait. Huda is pregnant... I tried to search for safety by any means, for me, my wife Huda, and our eagerly awaiting son, Malek! 😭

We were surprised by the new displacement and the terrifying sight of the bombing. We lost everything we owned for the second time, we took refuge in Rafah, I tried in every way to provide healthy food for my wife and our expectant child, but we were surprised for the third time by a major attack that made us leave without any food or shelter, Huda is eight months pregnant and we were displaced for the fifth time, this time is the worst, Huda and I stayed for five days sleeping on the burning sand of the sea. We did not taste food for five days, 💔

...

we were forced to sell sweets to save and pay the price of the tent. The date of birth of our first child, Malek, came, while we were preparing our tent to receive him, the place next door was bombed. Huda saw the remains, she lost consciousness, Dr. Ghassan requested an emergency delivery, Malek, our first child, died, I cried bitterly, and she entered a state of blood poisoning. All I want from you is to help me to save my family and Huda and restore my hope in life, from now on you, my family, I want to reach my goal, any donation. Help me save my family, if you can't please I just want to cry💔🥹🙏

It’s crazy how the other day an article came out quoting USAID saying there’s no evidence Hamas stole aid, and now Israel is being pressured to let aid into Gaza again, all the hasbarats are repeating that brazen lie over and over, despite Palestinians saying otherwise. They don’t give a fuck if Gaza starves, it’s all PR to them.

From a comfortable and safe home to a small tent that is unable to withstand the extreme temperatures of summer or winter, you wake up to the sounds of explosions everywhere.💔😔 You try to resist the pain of hunger and cold, but it is beyond your strength. My dreams and hopes were unfortunately not realized. I studied law and had a big dream of becoming a lawyer💔, but the war unfortunately made it impossible for me to pursue that path. Now I have only one dream, which is to alleviate the pain of hunger and cold and provide a suitable shelter for my family.💔😔
I am grateful to everyone who donated to help me save my family from genocide
