I was walking through the toy aisle at Target when I found this thing and had a VIOLENT AND IMMEDIATE FLASHBACK to when JP first came out and they had a bunch of REALLY COOL T Rex toys that I would have sold one of my scrawny small-child limbs for but my mother wouldnāt get me one because they were ātoo violent and also ate peopleā :(

I'm Not Like Other Girls.
āIām not like other girls, you know?ā she tilts her head back and smiles strangely at me like sheās inviting me in on a little secret sheās been waiting to tell me āIām different.ā
When I ask her exactly what does she mean by that she shrugs rolling her shoulders up and down nonchalantly ājust that - Iām just not like the rest. Iām smart. I actually eat I donāt wear make up - Iām just not like them.ā
So youāre saying every other girl is stupid and every other girl never eats and every other girl wears make up every other girl is a mile high billboard six feet tall with photoshopped skin and a waist roughly the size of your ankle.
You see one of these girls in the mall and you turn your nose up at them sneering ā how silly they are how stereotypical they are Iām not like them Iām better than them.
But in reality other girls donāt actually exist other girls is something told to us from the day we first learned that pink was our color and make up was our thing and our boyfriends are supposed to hold our purses and wait for us outside.
āOther girlsā much like Snow White and much like Cinderella is a bed time story told to you every single second of every single day; you grew up learning to hate every other girl you grew up on the idea that what has been assigned to your gender - by a society and a media that wants to make money off of you - is something to be sneered at you grew up on the notion that pretty and thin are synonymous with stupid and vapid
But isnāt that they want us to be? Isnāt that what theyāve been telling us to be? Because if weāre not pretty and thin then weāre not worth anyoneās time but then if we are pretty and thin weāre turned into a joke.
A joke ā like a 23 year old woman whoās been producing and writing her own music since she was sixteen years old being reduced to nothing more than the sum of her boyfriends a joke ā like a 22 year old man whoās been producing and writing his own music since he was sixteen years old who is applauded and respected and even that boils down to other girls - other girls date your favorite boy band member other girls are pretty and thin other girls are āsluts.ā
Other girls are the enemy pretty girls are the enemy because weāve been taught that pretty girls get every thing so much easier but this is only true in the sense that they get the burdens that we all must face handed to them on a silver platter instead of on a wooden plank and is it so much better after all?
What is it that you hate so much about your own gender that compels you to separate yourself and claim yourself as above them? Donāt you see that when you divide us into ranks we create an enemy on the inside while the real enemy gets stronger?

The Infernal Devices ā¶ Will Herondale & Tessa Gray (for @puckconnollyā)
Of course you can have a true Shadowhunter name. You can have mine. Marry me. Marry me, Tess. Marry me and be Tessa Herondale. Or be Tessa Gray, or whatever you wish to call yourself. But marry me and stay with me and never leave me, for I cannot bear another day of my life to go by that does not have you in it.Ā

This flag is not racist.
This flag represents theĀ āThin Blue Lineā. Ā
The blue line represents law enforcement standing between the people and anarchy, criminals, and violence.
It does not stand for anything hateful, racist, discriminatory, homophobic, sexist, or anything other _ist, _ism, _phobia, or _ation you can think of.
Those who utilize this flag or symbol and derivatives of do so because they are expressing solidarity with law enforcement other first responders, respect, gratitude, and simply support to the men and women who come from all varieties of creeds, races, and beliefs. It is also not uncommon to use it to express mourning over the death or murder of someone in law enforcement.Ā
Before the flag, the symbol was simply this:
And it would later expand to include other aspects of law enforcement and first responders. Ā Red for Firefighters, Silver for Corrections Officers, Gold for Dispatchers/Communications Officers, White for EMS, and Orange for Search and Rescue.
There are versions which include manyĀ āThin Linesā to show respect for multiple agencies. Ā I for one have this one on the back of my car.
Before all this PC nonsense, people used these symbols as a means of support, respect, and encouragement. Ā āWe see you, we appreciate you, we are thankful to you.ā Ā It never had anything to do with race, hate, power, control, or anything negative.Ā
Ā These symbols have existed long before the mobs called them racist or symbols ofĀ āwhite powerā and no matter how you attempt to make them represent something evil, it will not work or change what it stands for:
Family. Brotherhood. Sisterhood. Family.
If you ever work as a first responder or in that community, be it law enforcement, EMS, firefighting, SAR, dispatch..you see hell, sometimes daily. You see your own hell, the hell of others. You see blood, death, torture, cruelty and evil. Lives are risked. Lives are lost - sometimes it could be your own, or someone you were tasked with protecting. Someone you worked side by side with. Itās a calling, and itās both heaven and hell for those involved. Ā All of us are a family, and this is how we reach out to each other to tell each other something simple:
āBrother or Sister, I have your back.ā
If you choose to see that as racist, demeaning, hateful, or anything else negative, especially after being explained otherwise, then there is no helping you - unless itās someone from our community.
Regardless of what you think of us, how you hate or love us, we will always come to help you even if it means getting hurt to do so, or even killed.
Thatās our family, and this is our symbol. It will never mean hatred.
For those who still think otherwise and believe yourself good and honest people, I have a challenge for you. Ā The next time you see someone, be they IRL or online and theyāre sporting the thin blue line, ask them calmly to tell you what it means to them. Ā Why itās important to them. What they think of it.
I think youāll live happier knowing that something you believed was hateful is actually out to do good.
