In the words of the wonderful Julie Andrews, let’s start at the beginning, a very good place to start. This was how I first became aware of the game and it’s a perfect example of the charm and wit I mentioned in my intro post. Not only is the trailer funny, but there’s an easter egg hidden in each student ID. Do you see it?

Welcome to Avengers Academy Archive, an online home for all things related to our favourite superhero school.

Why start a tumblr after the game has been shut down, you may wonder.

Well, like many players, I was heartbroken about that. Before saying goodbye to it though, I decided to make the most of those last six weeks. For one, I started capturing various actions and animations that I loved. Another thing I did was start a new game fresh from the beginning so that I could play through the storyline again and by doing so, I realized something. Not only had I forgotten just how much story there was, but I forgot how much I enjoyed the story. (I also noticed a few minor differences between v1 story and v2 story, but that’s for another time.) I rediscovered some unique character animations I had forgotten, as well as discovering some that I had never before looked at. 

I also realized that I don’t want the game’s charm, creativity, and wit to be forgotten and I’m not sure that the fandom wiki, though comprehensive, quite captures it. Hence, the archive.

In the coming weeks and months, I’m going to start posting screencaps and gifs of the storyline, as well as various character actions and other entertaining random bits I captured over the years. So if like me you aren’t quite ready to leave the Academy behind, please follow along.

Just a quick disclaimer before we move on: It’s going to take some time to organize my many, many, many screenshots so please be patient.
