let's hear it for the nonbinary folks who:
don't present androgynously
use "binary" pronouns in any capacity
identify partially with a binary gender
have a "gendered" name
don't experience body dysmorphia
don't experience gender dysphoria
DO experience gender dysphoria/body dysmorphia but aren't sure what gender or body would suit them
just experience body/gender apathy instead
can't be open about their gender identity yet
you're all absolutely valid.
don't ever feel like you're "not nonbinary enough" because you absolutely are! 💖

Rudolph should have known it was too good to be true. It’s Ion, of course, he would use his wife—one person Adeline cared more about than the Con Vesters—to get her to come. It was his perfect little plan. Kidnap Adeline to do whatever he wanted to do to her and kill Rudolph.
“Rudolph,” Adeline mutters.
“Yeah, clover?” he replies, his tone making him sound exhausted. He’s a tough boy, but he is not as built as his father, so getting punched, especially in the face, starts to hurt after a while.
“Can you make me a promise?”
“Anything.”
“Can you turn me into a vampire?”
Her request gets him to open his eyes, staring at her with tired red eyes. She looks so scared as she stares back at him with bloodshot eyes from crying while they lie on the dusty hardwood floor. He can hear the need in her voice, the pleading of her wish.
“Adeline, I love you, but I can’t do that.” He mutters.
“Rudolph, please,” she begs quietly, “I have been around so much death, my entire life, and as much as I would like to see my parents again, I don’t wanna die!”
“Adeline,” Rudolph sighs.
“Please, I just want to get out of here alive,” she pleads.
“I’m not doing it right now. If things get really bad, I’ll turn you,” he replies.
She nods, holding his hand as best she can with their wrist bond. “Whatever he did last time, it put a rash on your neck.”
“I think he figured out that I am allergic to bleach, “Rudolph mutters, squeezing her hand.
“I’m allergic to ants,” Adeline replies, “Dust mites and linalool too.”
“Linalool?”
“It's like two enantiomers of a naturally occurring terpene alcohol—”
“Huh?”
“It’s found in a lot of flowers and spice plants,” Adeline giggles softly, “I can’t eat anything with Basil in it, and lavender soap gives me hives. There are a lot of laundry detergents and lotions I can’t use because of it.”
He hums before the heavy footsteps can be heard stomping towards them. “Come on, pretty boy!” Ion huffs, grabbing Rudolph by the hair, yanking him off the floor, and dragging his body to the bathroom in his small cabin out in the middle of nowhere.
“STOP, PLEASE, ION STOP THIS!” Adeline screams, struggling against the rope around her wrists and ankles, “HE’S DONE NOTHING WRONG! YOU HAVE ME DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO ME!”
“I’ll be fine, clover!” Rudolph assures her before being slammed into the bathroom wall, as Ion slams the door.
“Stop calling her that!” Ion shouts before punching him in the face.
“What am I supposed to call her?” Rudolph chuckles, with a smirk as Ion held him by his shirt collar, “She looks like a four-leaf clover. My lucky little clover.”
His sly remarks earned him another punch, “I’ve said this multiple times, you’ll have to punch me harder than that,” Rudolph laughs, “Sad that I have a better chance at fucking your niece than you ever did, you freak.”
That one got him slammed into the tub as Ion approached him; the smell of garlic filled his nostrils. “Did you roast garlic?”
“Make you uncomfortable?” Ion scoffs.
“It smells really good, actually,” He remarks, before Ion grips the back of his hair and shoves his face above the tub.
Full of extremely hot water, the heat instantly hits Rudolph's face, “Ya gonna dunk me in? We are way past the season for bobbing for apples.”
“You wanted to get your hands on the first cute girl you saw, didn’t you?”
Rudolph let out a laugh, “Many such cases.”
Ion shoves Rudolph’s face closer to the water, “I obviously didn’t plan on liking her, I was just trying to be nice to her while she was having a bad time.”
“Oh, right,” Ion huffs, “A boy born of a man who kidnapped his wife—”
“Hey, he didn’t kidnap her!” Rudolph remarks furiously, “You don’t know what my mother went through before being with my father!”
“You come from a lot of people that really love foreigners!”
“You know what, you’re right, I love the American girls! I wanna get my hands on every American girl I can find and make a little harem of a bunch of pretty girls that don’t know what I’m saying when I speak one of the three languages I know. You absolute piece of shit!”
Ion dunks Rudolph’s head into the water. It is as if his face is burning, not because of the temperature of the water but because of what could be in it. It burns how Wilhelm described the sensation of holy water and silver on the skin. It’s agonizing! The feeling of his skin burning so slowly, the feeling on his head being in that water for hours, even though it’s only been a few minutes.
“Have anything else to say for yourself?” Ion asks with Rudolph’s head out of the water.
“Suck my dick, you Catholic fuck!” Rudolph growls before his head is dunked back into the holy water.
They had been missing for a day and a half when they found their phones in Rudolph's car at Ion. They knew they had been taken, and besides, Capri basically confessed to it. So every single one of Con Vester and their allies in the country was out in full force trying to find both Rudolph and Adeline.
“Momma!”
His voice echoes through Belladonna’s brain, his power, “Rudolph? Duckie! Thank God you’re okay!” “Okay is a strong word,” he replies.
“Darling, tell me where you are! We’ve been searching for you and Adeline since yesterday!”
“Fuck, it’s almost been two days!”
“Darling, please!”
“I don’t know where we are,” he tells her, “All I remember is that we were away from the mountains, but I don’t know where.”
“Rudolph! Please—”
“Momma, I’m sorry.”
“You sound so tired,” Belladonna coos sadly.
“I am. Just find us, please.” His voice sounds as if it is getting farther away.
“Rudolph, darling, I need more. Is there anything—”
“I don’t know, Momma, I’m sorry,” He says with every word he says, making it seem like he is farther and farther away from.
“RUDOLPH!” She screams in the passenger seat of Wilhelm’s car, causing the old vampire to jerk the steering wheel.
“What happened?! Did you see him?!” Wilhelm asks, terror lacing his voice as he looks over at Belladonna, as she all but hyperventilates.
“Stop the car!”
“Bela, what is it—”
“Wilhelm, stop the car! We are looking in the wrong place!” She tells him frantically before searching for her phone to call Margo.
Rudolph had never thought of himself as a mama’s boy, but his mother had always been comforting; maybe that’s why he communicated with her first. He has to have his eyes closed to use his powers, which at this point might put him to sleep. Ion is doing his best to break him, and he’s getting close.
“—We haven’t even started yet, Rudolph. Come on, I’m not bringing you back from the dead so you can’t die on me!” he can hear Adeline’s voice calling him back to consciousness, “There is so much left for us to do! Stay with me!”
“I’m not going anywhere, Adeline, I promise,” Rudolph mutters.
“Thank fuck!” She sighs, resting her forehead against his, with her bound hands against his chest as he sat against the wall, “I’m your girlfriend, you can’t just leave me just because my uncle is beating the shit out of you!”
“You're my girlfriend now?”
“I would like to be, after all this… is that okay?” she mentions.
“It’s more than okay, clover,” he hums with a smile before touching her face with his bonded hands. “He hurt you,” he remarks, seeing one of her cheeks redder than the other.
“He tried to take you again, and you were sleeping,” Adeline tells him as his fingers brush her cheek, “he just slapped me around, I’m alright.”
Rudolph grimaces, “I was talking to my mom.”
“Talking to your mom?”
“Vampires all get a unique ability, turned or pure, I have mindshifting-telekinesis,” Rudolph explains, “I can speak and even project myself into people’s minds.”
“You’ve never done that to me.”
“You want my project himself in your mind, that would be a little weird,” he remarks, “Me being your boyfriend and all.”
She snickers before softly saying, “I was surprised you have a heartbeat.” Her hands resting right above her heart, “It beats faster when you look at me. Almost feels normal.”
“My mom said when she was still a human, she realized that my dad was in love with her when she felt his heartbeat. She said he had the heartbeat of a regular man.”
“Please tell me more about your parents,” she coos.
“You wanna know about them?” He asks.
“I don’t wanna think about being here,” she answers.
“Right, clover, I’ll tell you everything I know,” he replies.
“Never stop calling me that, please.”
“I don’t plan on it, clover.”
Even in the old dust cabin, he gets her to laugh. Their situation is horrible, but he got her to smile, and if he’s going to be murdered, Rudolph will happily die with the last thing seen being Adeline's smile. Every single story that he could think of, he tells her, within reason, the sad and horrific things that his parents experienced throughout their lives are off-limits for a time like this. However, all the domestic Con Vester stories in the world can’t make up for Ion coming in to beat on them more.
“Let’s go, Adeline!” Ion remarks forcefully, trying to grab a handful of her hair.
“I’ll fucking kill you!” Rudolph yells, putting himself between her and Ion.
“The boy full of holy water and silver is going to kill me,” Ion laughs, coming at him with a knife.
If he weren’t beaten, bruised, and tortured with holy water, he would have been fast and not left with a large cut on his upper lip as Ion drags Adeline away, and he is left lying against the hardwood floor, cursing.
He wishes that vampiric ability were genetic; the gods would have given him his father’s bloodily tendrils or his mother’s siren song, then maybe he could help her more, be the knight in shining armor that she deserves, instead of lying on the floor while Ion does God knows what to her. She comes back to him, beaten and bruised and cheeks stained with tears.
“Adeline,” Rudolph mutters, “My Clover—”
“Your clover… I really like that,” she mumbles tiredly.
“I’m going to turn you,” he informs her.
She nods before he sinks his teeth into her skin and begins to drink her blood. Her blood is sweet, like lead; it’s different, it’s good. A different kind of sweet than some of the blood that he has tasted before, a blood he could live off for eternity, and hopefully, he will. He could only think to bite the inside of his cheek, filling his mouth with blood before connecting their lips.
“Drink.” He instructs her, using his telekinesis, “I will kiss you properly later, I promise!”
She follows his directions, drinking his blood with a lifesaving fervor, before properly kissing him, “I didn’t wanna wait for later,” she comments after breaking their kiss.
“Your blood tastes so good,” Rudolph sighs into her shoulder.
“I hope it helps you,” she whispers.
“I don’t know, my body is full of a lot of silver and holy water,” he retorts, “But I really appreciate the thought.”
“It still stands after we get it out of all this,” she adds, “If my blood will still taste any good.”
“Oh, it will,” he tuts with a smile across his lips.
“YOU FUCKING MONSTER,” Ion screams, yanking Rudolph off of Adeline and shoving him into a decorative table, causing little dusty trinkets to fall on top of him.
“STOP!” Adeline cries, before Ion yet again grabs a fistful of her hair and begins to drag her back to the cabin’s bedroom.
“You just can’t seem to quiet, can you?” Ion huffs, “Consorting with the devil and demons all for a boy that doesn’t deserve the light of God!” He begins to remove his belt, “Now he has made one of those hellspawns! He does not love you! He will chew you up and spit you out and find another young girl to fuck and dump just like you! But you will have to watch it all now!”
Her screams are louder than before, which terrifies Rudolph to his core. He can’t move, and he can’t protect her. There has never been a moment in his whole life when he has felt so helpless. The bashing of wood makes his mind race with all the horrific things Ion could be doing to her.
“Oh my god! Rudolph!”
That’s his sister’s voice, that’s Odette’s voice, oh thank fuck! He can hear two sets of rapid footsteps, and then two sets of hands on him. “Rudolph, come on, mate, open those eyes.” She’s with Hendrick, thank god!
Rudolph groans, cracking open his eyes, “Adeline, save Adeline.”
Hendrick looks to Odette for some kind of guidance. She nods and runs off to the bedroom to save Adeline. “Hey, Hey, keep those eyes open!” Hendrick says, undoing the ropes around his wrist and ankles, “Your mum and dad will be here soon; they were basically right behind us.”
Rudolph nods while hearing Ion’s screams from the bedroom, “No, no, no!” Belladonna whimpered, seeing Rudolph on the floor, “My baby boy! My sweet baby boy!” she whines, holding him in her arms. He can’t help but enjoy her embrace, slipping into unconsciousness while hearing his father’s booming voice screaming and cursing from the other room.
