I am very glad that you have gone into the matter of her religion so carefully, and that she has promised that the children shall be brought up as Protestants and that she herself may come over to the church later... I am sure the girl takes after her mother and not her father, as his behaviour here as ambassador in the early days of the war was anything but helpful.

THE LOVELIEST WEDDING OF THE YEAR
Their Majesties the King and Queen, with the two Princesses, as well as the Queen Mother, and the Princess Royal, were all present at the [March 30] wedding in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, of Miss Lavinia Lascelles to Major Edward Renton. There was a big crowd assembled outside the chapel to see the Royal Family and to wish luck to the exceptionally good-looking bride and groom as they drove away in an open landau, drawn by two Windsor Greys, to the reception in the State Rooms of Windsor Castle lent by His Majesty, who wished the young couple ‘Long life, every happiness and good fortune’ when he proposed their health.
THE TATLER AND BYSTANDER - April 10, 1946
