jaskier is still in love with geralt— and no, I don't think he will EVER fully get over it. he will accept things as they are, yes, but will he ever be over the fact that he and geralt spent over two decades living in each other's pockets and never talking about their feelings? no. jaskier will write thousands of songs and lie to people about how geralt is just his best friend, but he will never EVER get over the fact that out of every person in the entire world, geralt chose him. and he will always choose him, but now, he will not choose solely him anymore. geralt has two other people now (his daughter and his on-and-off-again "dear friend") and jaskier knows that he will always be under them when it comes down to it. he's fine with that. but he will always answer his call. he will drop everything. he can try and fuck someone else (even a prince) but the emotional connection will NEVER be even HALF as close as what he has towards geralt. he's not over it! if he was over it, he could be with someone else truly! he's not over it and he will never be over it! because he wrote songs about him for decades and he still sings them and everyone knows, yet no one actually knows the reality— just the random distracting details from the lyrics. it tricks the audience into thinking they know more, but they don't know everything between those lines.

and geralt? geralt exists between those lines because that's where jaskier keeps him to himself. geralt is well-aware that jaskier is in love with him. he actively takes advantage of it. he does it to get his help with protecting his other loved ones. it's fine to geralt because jaskier loves them too, so technically jaskier isn't ONLY doing it for him. at least not anymore. geralt knows that the songs are all about him. he's okay with being known by everyone through jaskier's point of view. he'd rather them attempt to see him the way jaskier does than them not taking the opportunity hear jaskier out at all. geralt knows that jaskier has accepted all of this. geralt is counting on that acceptance because without it, jaskier wouldn't always come back to him. he will not talk about it because that could make it worse and wreck their dynamic. geralt knows that jaskier will do anything for him, but does he know that jaskier will never get over it? maybe he does and that's why he knows he can count on him.
