I'm so glad I finally stopped by the new The Face Shop in town. I've always heard that Korean cosmetics / skin care products are great for your skin - after all, all of their actors and actresses have such flawless skin... actually, even normal non-celebrities have nice skin too.
I thought the store was even better because Kim Hyun Joong is literally the face of the shop - heaven forbid.
Anyways, I purchased the Velvet Skin Primer - apparently its really good for oily skin. You're supposed to apply it on after moisturizing and before face make up; the primer is supposed to create a very smooth velvet-like surface for your make up, making your skin look and feel extra smooth. I also picked up the Smart Capsule CC Cream. Ok, either I'm a total make up n00b or this thing is flipping awesome -- the cream pumps out white, but once you start smoothing it out on your skin, the color turns into your brightest tone. Basically, it adapts to your skin color (but the brightest one). How awesome is that?
Apart from the main purchases, the girl working there gave us a ton of samples to play with (which is like everything in the second picture up there). I'll be occupied with all of these samples for a while... Haha. Everyone should stop by, it's so cute and the people that work there are so nice. I would hate to see this place go out of business just because not enough people know about it.

Haul: Daiso & Target
School will be starting again in a matter of weeks, so I started to shop around for some supplies. Here are some of the things I've acquired over the past couple of days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been using this shampoo for a while now, and although it can be a bit pricey for the average shampoo - $6 - something about it draws me back to it every time. Perhaps it's the smell... but it also does a good job keeping my hair healthy.

This is going to be my first time using this Neutrogena face wash. I normally use http://www.neutrogena.com/product/oil-free+acne+stress+control-+power-cream+wash.do?sortby=ourPicks (which works quite well), but I just wanted to try out something a little different.

Since I am the goddess of oily skin (haha), I always always always carry oil blotting sheets around with me everywhere I go. I normally use either the brand they carry at Target or Clean & Clear, but I found some at Daiso, so I decided to give it a try. For those of you who don't know, Daiso basically sells everything for $1.50 ~ The blotting sheets are obviously cheaper than the ones I normally use - they're a lot thinner. I can use approximately 3 sheets each time, but hey... still works. I'd probably recommend these for those of you who kind of have oily skin and just need a light touch up during the day.

a monday afternoon
I fortunate to be able to spend the day with my dearest roommate Samantha. We decided to visit the Huntington Library (on this very hot and humid day) just for the scenery. The library never ceases to amaze me - there's always something I either haven't seen or have never even heard of. The funny thing was that we somehow got a free tour of the remainder of the place halfway through our experience from the security... lucky us! Although it was a semi-weird situation, the fact that we were able to skip out on walking was definitely a thumbs up.
Here are some of the pictures from today:

We got a bit hungry afterwards, so we stopped by Honey Badger Café.

I had the chicken pesto sandwich which was pretty delicious. Sam tried out the spinach salad (I forgot what it was called - sorry!). We shared some sweet potato fries - yummy! The place was a really nice and relaxed environment - perfect for studying or just hanging out.
We also drove home with her convertible top down while blasting Jay Park's "Joah" on her speakers and singing along. It was awesome.

Quality Time
Earlier this evening (or last night, whatever you'd like to call it), I was finally able to spend some time with my favorite people, ever! We all decided to enjoy dinner at Lucille's BBQ House - which was yummy delicious. Meat-eaters are highly welcomed here ~
It was really nice spending time with my favorite bundle of friends - and boyfriend! Here are some pictures to document the night:

cha cha chili
Asian fusion cuisine is usually really savory and so I had to try this new place out in town ~ Cha Cha Chili.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried out the Beef Bulgogi Burrito, the Short Rib Chimichanga, and some Short Rib Tacos. The Beef Bulgogi and Short Rib Chimichanga are definitely two of my faves from this place.
Many of you may have already heard of a food truck that serves something similar - Kogi, but I think this place wins in comparison. Try it out if you haven't already.

sunday~
My family is addicted to something called Pho - so you can find us eating at these restaurants pretty often. I also have a personal addiction for anything that can be eaten with some form of soup. Mmmmm!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got a haircut in LA ~ and somehow we wound up at this pretty cute coffee house in Downtown Los Angeles.
Tumblr media
I got a cool drink - Thai Tea Latte - but I honestly don't understand why they didn't just call it a "Thai Iced Tea." The flavor was pretty concentrated, so it was great for sipping casually over a conversation of some sort.

Quickly stopped by the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena today. I'm not a total art person, but I've slowly been learning how to appreciate an artist's work more and more. So much Degas!
