hey, so... it's 18 days before the anniversary of this blog, and I'd just like it to go out with a bang :D. That day is probably the day I'll not post on here anymore, and everything but the matt fic will be discontinued, but I'd like to thank you all for the wonderful almost-a-year you've given me. So in line with that, I will maybe be making fanart for all my mutuals (and maybe some followers)!! I know that I said I'll go away from HPHM, and I mean it; I just wanted to give a thank-you gift to you guys. After that, who knows? I'll be over here posting and reblogging on my new blog if you need me <33
Hey guys! Haven't been active in awhile, I know, but I've got an important and serious announcement, and I hope you understand. Don't worry, it's not anything drastic like deleting this account, I'd never do that, but I will be leaving the HPHM Fandom. Don't get me wrong, I love the story I've made, and most of all I love the amazing people and the welcoming community and the feeling of friendship, even if I don't talk to any of you guys XD. It's just, as long as the threat that J. K. Rowling poses proudly and publicly to trans people subsides and truly goes away, I can't in good conscience continue to make content about her fandom, even if it's about a spin-off game. So yeah. If you followed me for the HPHM content, I won't be posting any of that anymore, sorry. If you followed me for memes and reblogs, I've got a new blog, @aqua-beam ! If you followed me for the Maya and the Three fanfic, worry not! It's high time I continue it, and I've got some idea rolling around in this head of mine, and I'll be posting it either here or on the other blog. I think that's about it for my Farewell HPHM post, and please remember that I have nothing against the people of this fandom, just against the franchise's author and her bad ideals. That said, don't mourn Calliope, she's not dead, and she lives on in our hearts. That concludes my Farewell HPHM post, have a good day!
when people talk about writing ‘the next Lord of the Rings’ they think it’s all about the wars and the languages and the histories, and Aragorn brooding in the corner of an inn and the Balrog roaring in Moria and the ruins of Isengard, and that’s how we got Game of Thrones and several dozen cheap fantasy knock-offs every year, not to mention whatever nonsense the Amazon show is going to produce
but Tolkien’s wars and languages and histories stemmed from his love of creating - of words and history and mythos - and that love infuses into everything he writes, and if you miss that then there’s no way in hell you can replicate it
and the people who want to write the next Lord of the Rings because they want to write the next epic don’t get that the story is about the hobbits’ soft and simple lives and Bilbo’s poetry and Sam’s love language being food and Eowyn discovering hope after depression and Gandalf making fireworks for hobbits even if he is a literal angelic being, and Aragorn weeping over Boromir’s body and Theoden’s kindness to Merry, and Beregond betraying his most prized orders to save Faramir, and the unlikely friendship between Gandalf and Pippin, and the even unlikelier friendship between Legolas and Gimli, and Sam and Frodo singing to each other in Mordor, and Boromir sacrificing himself for the hobbits, and Sam’s simple love for Rosie, and the restoration of the Shire, and the friendship of the Fellowship surviving down through the ages, and peace after war and hope in darkness, and the love between a gardener and a gentleman pacifist being literally the only thing that saves Middle Earth
and that is why people who try to recreate Lord of the Rings by starting with war always get it wrong. you have to start with the love, or it’s nothing: just another empty history
fun fact about me is that when i was a kid id write capital E’s with as many of those little horizontal lines as possible and id call them ladder E’s and adults fucking hated them
