With uni over, I now have time to do my own things. My mum is hoping to get me some space in the hospital to show some art, and I’m hoping to make it Shetland themed.

After working on my uni project for so long, I’ve gone mad about sunset colours and themes, so I have a feeling a lot of my pieces will be set at sunset. xD

The etching took a lot less time than I thought it would. It’s still rough and blotchy, but I don’t mind it being that way. So here is today’s work. Clean up, Colour, Shadows, Highlight and Etching. Was pretty fun, but also knackering :)

I never really have time to post on my personal blog. But summer is fast approaching, and my uni is so close to being over :D. 

It is finally here! 

For university, I had to create an Art Book (I could’ve used a showreel but I wanted the book) to show off my storyboards. I spent a lot of time making this, perhaps too much… but I do believe it was worth it! 

Several people have been asking if I’m going to sell these, but it’s not really viable. For a hard back it costs £30 odd just to print it, so I don’t think I’ll be doing that! 

This has been an expensive venture, but it’s what I wanted. Plus I printed a softback for the university to keep. When I was making this I could have really used an example of a previous one…but there were none. Which is why I printed extra. [Also, the Mother wants one lol]

More work from Animation Blog

This didn’t take as long as I’d thought to colour. But here is the mist shot coloured. We’ve put an off-white background on so far. That may change, but so far it’s look pretty good :)

Two more done today. Left took an hour, right took an hour and 30! Seem to be getting better though. :)

I’ve not done many drawings on the computer, sounds strange because I’m on it all day, every day, working in photoshop. But I haven’t. All I’ve really done is uni work, so today I decided to try my hand at some colour life drawings. I just went onto pinterest and looked up “Portraits” and these two stuck out to me. The one on the left was my first, and the right, my second. Really enjoyed these, I’ve never been one for using colour, but that may change… :D I’ve already looked out about 10 more than I want to do… but my hand does hurt now so I think it’s time for a break!

Backgrounds and keying for Selkie film. 

I’m not much of a background artist, but I think I’m slowly getting better. Here are some of the final backgrounds I’ve done. I’m trying to keep the colours bold but simple, I’ve been playing a bit much with many tones within a single object and it’s taking too long. So I’ve simplified it a bit. Well that’s 4 done… just 16 more to go hahaha! I’m not going to get these done by tomorrow :S. :D

I found a whole bunch of selkie sketches that I completely forgot about this morning. I should really take a few hours and go through all my folders and organise my stuff… but I can’t be bothered right now lol. I still am not set on a design for her, I love the hair of this one, so I might go with that. But every time I think I’ve come up with a design, I started to wish to change it…. meh. lol.

I was made quite late for life drawing this morning, so I decided to finish this scene for after lunch! Wish I’d managed to do it last night, but at least it’s done now. :) I just need to send it to the director for approval of Lars’s movements.

I haven't been doing much lately, but here is a gif from before xmas. 

My new attempt with a more detailed background. Not quite happy with the background yet, but I’m working on it. Reasonably happy with the selkie transformation here. I think I’ll rough out a few more scenes and then start working on inbetweening these.

Finally cleaned up the scene. I hate clean up…just…hate it. Anyhoo. Must be moving on!

I tried to upload a gif of this, just for ease, but it kept erroring… so it’s not videos. Luckily Tumblr seem to have sorted their videos :D. Anyway, here is a rough. I’m hoping to use this background though for the final. The music is the start of C’est la Mort by The Civil Wars. I will have my own music written for the whole thing (if I can animate it all). xD

Edited the timing quite a bit on here now, it is almost 23 seconds long…which is quite a lot actually…since I had it down as 15 in the animatic. But I think it flows better at this timing…YAY, more work! Once I get the horrid animation areas done (section two and three, with the ending of the first one) I’ll try and figure out how to face the sections out in order to make it look as though time has passed. Then it’s onto colouring the background. Hopefully I’ll get it done in time for the meeting… sooo much to do!
