Adding to Wuwas Problems (part 2)

Part 1 - Wrong Audience

The fanbase is completely in denial of any problems this game has. If you dare even make the tiniest complaint, theyll call you a "biased genshin player" because they meat ride wuwa so much that they refuse to believe that anyone could have any valid complaints about this game.

In my last post, i talked about how a lot of hate for Wuwa comes from Kuro not targeting the right audience - and the fans contribute to this. The downplay/straight up denial of the fanservice also builds up false hope to people who are interested in playing. Saying that "its not that noticeable" or "its not even in the story" is completely false. This post would be way too big if i pointed out all the fanservice in the game but ill say its not a coincidence that Rover is just an empty shell of a self insert so that the average incel can ship himself with his favourite waifu who just so happens to immediately like Rover without even knowing them all that well. So now youve got new players unhappy with the fanservice because of the fans who told them it wasnt that bad.

Its true that at first, the majority of the hate came from Genshin/hoyo players, however this is not the case anymore. The game has been out for a whole YEAR so its safe to say that now the complaints come from wuwa players themselves who are frustrated with the game or with kuro constantly disappointing them with each update. - for example, me - I dont play any hoyo games, ive played wuwa since day 1 and i LOVED 1.0, so my views on this game have changed because of the bad decisions of the devs and not because i hate that genshin has competiton.

Wuwa is not perfect, it has flaws, and that's okay to admit. stop living in this bubble that no one can ever say anything bad about it "because genshin does this too!!!" because thats not an excuse for a game to do stupid things. Dont hype up the game to be better than it actually is because it just creates high expectations that the game cant reach.

Wuwas biggest problem

Kuro was not transparent enough in the marketing, announcement, and release of the game about the type of choices they wanted to make. Theres a lot of decisions they've made that are risky to do without building the proper audience beforehand, like the lack of male characters, only releasing 5 stars, and the harem/fanservice.

-A game is allowed to only release female characters (look at Honkai Impact for example) except those games get away with it because they've ALWAYS advertised themselves as a female-only characters game. Wuwa made it seem like there would be a fair ratio in the launch, which built up false hope for players. This is entirely their fault and they shouldnt have even added male characters to begin with if theyre only going to add 2 new males within a WHOLE YEAR.

-A game is allowed to have fanservice and a harem, but ONLY if its made 100% clear to the audience that this is the games intention. You cant just play around it - which is EXACTLY what wuwa did. The release made it seem like the fan service wasnt THAT bad, and I certainly wasnt playing through the story thinking this was going to be a harem. However, as game goes on, youll start to realise that the characters' whole purpose is just to be attracted to Rover or flirt with them until they move on to the next character.

-As for the 4 star problem, just because the launch characters are still useful it doesnt mean that wuwa should just never add 4 stars again. Its ridiculous and a horrible decision to ONLY add 5 stars (which some of them need another 5 star to be worth pulling for) because theres no point in a rarity system anymore. Dont start your game off with 4 stars and 5 stars if youre not going to add 4 stars anymore.

So there's a clear trend with wuwa: They advertised the game one way, but then completely change this notion as the game updates. This gathers hate as kuro is not building the intended audience that would appreciate these decisions. As i mentioned, there are games that have these features, but they were able to gather the audience they wanted (so those people obviously wouldnt complain about features they liked) without tricking the wrong people into playing. Imagine if Nikke advertised itself as a cozy RPG, or if Infinity Nikki suddenly added a bunch of over-exposed lingerie outfits - Players would obviously be mad because thats not who the game is for.

omg this is srsly how i feel!! i liked Carlottas story quest the most when we got to control her while rover was absent lol. i think its cos rover is such a boring character and i really cant connect with them in any way.

It’s kinda funny that moments in wuthering waves are soooo good when rover is the least relevant part of it

playing through wuthering waves attempt to add romantic fanservice in their story is like reading those badly written booktok romance books with no plot, where the main characters have no personality or life outside of being eachothers love interests.

the fact that they keep adding characters that have an instant attraction to rover, who has little personality and no clear goal that motivates players to continue the story, is just getting reptitive now. Like yes, rover is very helpful and powerful, and they have a mysterious background, but current rover is just... boring.

these characters are barely even introduced and its already clear that they like rover because "fate brought us together!" and suddenly everyone around them ships them and notices the "chemistry" they have (they just met.)

like at least give me a reason to care about these characters before adding romance to the game. If theres nothing driving me to enjoy these characters (like goals, backstory, and personality - not just their design) then why would i care about their love lives?

no, i dont hate wuthering waves, but the story aspect of the game is really lacking, and im allowed to criticise it and point out its flaws

like wdym the wuthering waves tag on tt only has about 300k uses?? i get that the release fever died down but i hope that the game will become more popular in the later updates.

the playerbase on social media is so much smaller than i thought it would be because the only creators i see are either leakers or honkai players who occasionally post wuwa

the game isnt even doing that bad in revenue so like where the hell are all the players??

even i got the game thinking id quit after a day but im still here 6 months later 💯💯

Its not crazy to say her character is fanservice!! why am i seeing so many delusional camellya stans calling everyone else a "Phub addict" for saying shes fanservice?? 😭😭 this is geniuely crazy.

all of her voice lines are so horny its crazy like its obviously meant to be interpreted in a flirty way when she says some stupid shit like "i want your seed" or "tease me harder" and her ult is just a boob closeup.. chat am i crazy for thinking that meant to appeal to some gooner audience??

if you think thats just "normal behavior" then that says more about you than about me 😭

Wuthering waves: male characters (boring!!!)

I never complained about lack of male characters in other gacha games, but the imbalance is wuthering waves is so obvious its getting ridiculous.

I think what irks me the most is how all the female characters have revealing designs while all the males are (almost fully) covered up. (at least make the males revealing too!!)

Its so annoying how theres already multiple characters who like rover or are very flirty with them. Like, yeah, shorekeeper knew them in their past life, but the way they showed it in the game was just..meh. Like i just met this character, why should i care that they loved rover? Why cant they just build their story and characters up BEFORE introducing any romance?? (and the extreme fanservice bait that camellya is just ruins her character for me tbh)

Its kinda sad knowing they had a whole different story written and scrapped the entire thing just because beta players said the characters were too "hostile" towards rover so now theyre over compensating by making them all interested in rover :'))

also kinda crazy how were in 1.4, 2.0 is coming soon and we still havent been introduced to calcharo???!!!

- i know a lot of other people have basically said the exact same thing but i think it just goes to show how a lot of us see the potential this game couldve had if they didnt go the fanservice self-insert harem way (theres still time for them to fix the game so i hope kuro will listen!!)
