All Danceaone faculty probably have a non-compete clause in their contract for a year so they are getting out now so they can start with Gil next full season. This is only speculation but I get the feeling that most of the people that are leaving now will be headed to Gil’s convention next year. The timing just makes sense. Gil’s convention will probably be small this year without a nationals and then glow up next season and take over as the biggest, baddest, and most prestigious convention and nationals around. That’s my prediction.

what do you know about the Shanny, ML drama?

Literally nothing. I just see people post stuff on here.

Synergy is also a good studio in Utah. They do the Hollywood Vibe and Holly Dance Jams conventions. If you are a “turner” or want to be a turner. That’s the Utah studio for you. They can turn and leap better than any other studio in Utah. They kind of lack in technique though. Don’t just depends on what you’re looking for.

Any advice you have for a dancer going into the junior room for the first time next season?

Go into that room with confidence. You were literally dancing with all of these same girls a year ago as a second year mini. They have progressed but so have you. Don’t be timid. Don’t be shy. Go in that room and be fierce. Make them notice you. Let them know you’re there! But do it respectfully.

My family is moving from Colorado to Utah. We’ll be about 30 minutes north of salt lake. Are there any other good studios there besides Center Stage?

I think the head designer from Five owns a studio. Or maybe he is just faculty there. I couldn’t tell you if they are any good or not. But that’s about all I know of in Utah besides CSPAS.

Regan winning best dancer will have a bigger impact than many people know. We will start seeing a lot more junior jazz solos not just during the season but also competed for best dancer. When you have the ability to change the game, you truly are an icon

I mean, I don’t think they need to make a “comeback.” They are still relevant. Maybe not what they were in the World of Dance Days before P21 took all of their dancers, but they are still a great studio.

what’s the biggest difference between dancers now and when you danced?

It’s just how good these dancers are at such a young age now. There dancers are doing things at 5 that I wasn’t doing until I was 10. And I was a pretty good dancer.

Honestly, I think it’s less about the switch and more about the drama of trying to figure out why they left.
