https://www.adweek.com/brand-marketing/etat-libre-dorange-is-making-a-luxury-perfume-out-of-trash-and-worms/ 🐛
A spot touting the perfume opens with an almost pornographically vivid shot of dead flowers and moldy fruit tumbling over fertile soil. Earthworms take residence, winding through fleshy waste. A voiceover recites, “Trash, but never waste. The most wanted scent, made from the unwanted: Etat Libre d’Orange.”

Burberry
For one, changing consumer mindsets have led to brands becoming more answerable. In July, British luxury label Burberry found itself in deep waters when news broke that the brand had destroyed £28.6 million (around ₹270 crore) worth of products that had been unsold in the fiscal year 2017. In response, the brand’s CEO Marco Gobbetti announced in an interview with digital publication Business Of Fashion that they would stop burning unsold goods. He also confirmed that the brand would stop using fur, joining other cruelty-conscious labels like Versace, Gucci and Tom Ford.
This is a typically 2018 response. As former UN deputy secretary-general Louise Fréchette wrote in a foreword to a report titled Environmental Sustainability And The Financial Crisis: Linkages And Policy Recommendations, “We see remarkable overlap and interconnectedness between the global financial crisis on one hand, and emerging and escalating environment and resource issues on the other.”

Case: Clark Fork River
Montana in the US holds the nations largest hazardous waste site: a 12o mile stretch of the Clark Fork River that passes over land contaminated with arsenic, lead, copper, mercury, cadmium and pentachlorophenol - a century’s worth of mining wastes. A humongous flood washed about 4.5 million cubic meters of mine tailings that spread a chock full of arsenic and toxic heavy metals into the Clark Fork River. A dam next to it saved the water from going into the Pacific Ocean which would of been a super toxic mess. 160 km of the river was all toxic now to this day, when it happened some of the toxic waste leached into the groundwater and that started polluting nearby residents wells. Now they are trying to restore it through conservation biologic methods and restoration ecology. Due to the waste, half of the fish population died.

Cellulose acetate
Cellulose acetate are made by extracting cellulose fibers from cotton and wood pulp to create a transparent paste. This paste can then be colored, processed, and molded for a variety of industrial applications. For this jewelry, it is cut from a large block into thin sheets, and then cut again into smaller rectangular blocks.

organic cotton
Added dyes can take the credibility away from your bright-pink organic cotton shirt. The safest bet is to buy organic cotton clothing in the shades the cotton is grown in. That is, cream, light brown and pale green.
